Oh man, I loved this! It's so great that you take the time to just stop and think through these things. It's something I really appreciate, and it goes a long way towards answering questions I've had. (I also happen to really like your playing.) This is so much more helpful than the usual sales videos pedal manufacturers post and are intended simply to hit the bullet points. Anyway, based in this video, the G2 is definitely for me, cheers!
So classic...I couldn’t help myself from singing “It's not in the way that you hold me It's not in the way you say you care” I’m loving your videos. Impeccable tones!!! Great playing! I discovered this channel through the amp giveaway with Robert Baker so shout out to him too.
Thanks for this demo along with the others on this pedal. My Revv G2 gold is on the way! You are the Inspiration. For that 15+ years I have only been using my Hermida Zendrive Alfonso made for me and since recently retiring I have been searching for a new pedal. Thanks again!!!
Love this!! That pedal sounds so good, and somehow the gold casing seems to make it sound even better! Steve Lukather's playing on the outro jam of Rosanna was one of the first solos that caught my ear with that "outside" sound (maybe after the Larry Carlton solo on Kid Charlemagne).
The Zen drive into the G2 is wonderful! Funny thing is, I have searched and tried out a few very nice pedals in the past month after hearing them demoed and hoped I could get their tones/sounds but was disappointed when they did not meet this expectation. I loved your demos and once again, hoped I could get tones/sounds like you with the pedal. I guess it's no surprise that I don't sound like you, I sound like me only better! I AM THRILLED with the Revv G2 Gold. I use a SF Princeton Reverb or a Hot Rod deluxe with great, albeit somewhat different results. Thanks again.
Love Lukather. Check out the concert he did with Carlton. I also love to see all the tones you can get out of the D20 using pedals. I'm having a blast with mine.
I run a G2 into a old 800 , just on the edge of break up. Hit it with any decent overdrive and it becomes a monster, the G2 worked great for this, (for me anyway ) in off, with the gain set at 1 , the rest set to taste., worked best with humbuckers.
Hi Shawn cool vidéo! But really don't have gain with G2 Like all your démos? Spécial bought After watching you for a Lukather style sound with the the Gold démo here. Sound incrediible for me has boost on crunch but really not special with that pedal spund on all my Amps sets really clean! i think that my mistake right? Maybe your little break'up clean made the real diffence ? thanks you great job.
I think the blue mode might be closer to the early Toto sound as well. It seems like SL is using a lot more gain than back in the day but he's still killing it!
@@ShawnTubbs And absolutely still killing it, I pretty much scoop up anything with him in the credits. Master class on how to lay low, then let it rip, then get right back in your spot.
That LP sounds killer. As does your playing. I'm not sure, but I think Steve Lukather also used Schecters with MonsterTone pickups (but that must have been during the Bradshaw era), Valley Arts Strats and then MusicMan of course.
Blue sounds a bit more like Luke overall. Great ear. Luke gets a bit fuzzy but sometimes he's real sharp and bright. Love his fuzz dirt tone. His use of effects especially more recently with his Bogner/pedalboard rig is stellar. Just killer.
it's very polite that you use Mr, everytime you call Lukather and Bradshaw. A sign of respect. Kudos

I so look forward to these. Sounds great!
Thannk you Chris!

The Zendrive is a great pedal! I think you'll dig the G2 and it would be interesting to hear how it pairs with Zen!
I kinda grew up on the first Toto albums. I think you’re nailing the differences of the tones 👍🏻
Thank you so much Shawn for making this awesome video. It's highly appreciated!
Thanks for the great question!
@@ShawnTubbs if that results in you making great videos like this one, I'll be sure to ask more questions haha!
Great Job Shawn !!!
Thanks very much, Eddie! I hope you're doing well.
Steve is probably one of the most underrated guitar players of all time.
That's an understatement!
Not really 😀
Underrated????? Are you shure what you're saying?? I don't think he is underrated at all.
Underrated?
Hahaaaaaaaaaa
Great playing and demo, Shawn. Luke would be proud!
He did have the Rivera modded blackface Deluxe. I believe Hold the Line was done with that and a ‘58 Goldtop Les Paul. You nailed the tone.
Thanks, Chris! Yeah wasn't sure if it was a '58 or 9 LP.
@@ShawnTubbs He has the ‘59 burst too. I keep coming back to this video. You are fantastic.
Sounds great Shawn!
Thanks!
You fuckin love TOTO! "NOT AN OFFICIONADO eh??" YOU KILLED IT DUDE. Great chops my man.
Luke is a guitar magician!!!

jakollee Yeah that outro solo is one of my favorites!! Thanks for watching!!
Your demos are great!! Really helpful! Thank you
yeh man that tone definitely does not suck ! Just awesome and timeless....
Someone once asked Steve Lukather to play some " Shawn Tubbs"
Chinchilla Farmer Haha, Shawn who?
Great job Shawn!

Mac Intune That’s awesome! Tone is a very personal thing and I’m happy to hear that you’re finding yours!
Steve his in my top 3 Best guitar players of all time Steve Lukather , Michael Landau and Andy Timmons... Just 🙌🙌🙌
Steve Lukather is just crazy good as a guitar player but he's also an amazing songwriter/arranger!
@@ShawnTubbs Not to mention his amazing singing voice. He's the whole package. Monster improviser.
Love Lukather. Check out the concert he did with Carlton. I also love to see all the tones you can get out of the D20 using pedals. I'm having a blast with mine.
Glad you're digging your D20!
“He is a rascal of a guitar player”. I’m going to use that from here on. That is all. 😂😂😂
LOVE LUKE ❤️🎸

At the beginning, a 59 Sunburst LP into Marshalls, then Rivera modded Deluxe Reverbs and Concerts, then Boogie, then Bradshaw.
Anybody else?
that's the most awsome distortion I've heard. What pickups are you using in your Gibson?
Hi Shawn cool vidéo!

I would love to hear your blue note and majestic in front of the G2...or other stacks on the g2
BILL JOHANNESEN I think I’ll do a video on this subject. Thanks Bill!!
Hydra is a killer track...
The Blue feels more early Toto to me, through maybe IV. After that, he started getting more gainy (arguably too gainy?)
I think the blue mode might be closer to the early Toto sound as well. It seems like SL is using a lot more gain than back in the day but he's still killing it!
@@ShawnTubbs I recall an interview with him where he said that first record was a fully gunned Deluxe Reverb with his Les Paul.
@@ShawnTubbs And absolutely still killing it, I pretty much scoop up anything with him in the credits. Master class on how to lay low, then let it rip, then get right back in your spot.
According to Luke, he recorded Hold The Line with his modded Deluxe Reverb. He didn't buy his '59 until '79 or '80, after Hold... was recorded.
Patrick Casey Cool! That would explain the Rivera modified Deluxe. Thanks for the comment.
Shauwn you said you used your own ir s for the the video or you use number 1 default cab of the d20? great job
Thanks!! I actually designed all of the cabs that are in the stock presets on the D20.
Shawn! Which Les Paul is that? R9? Beautiful guitar and awesome playing as usual.
It is an R9 with some extra work including a neck reshape, new finish work, stinger... very special!
@@RevvAmps What did you do to the neck?
For not being Toto nerd, you break out White Sister and a shot at the I Won't Hold You Back solo stone cold. Not bad, man, not bad.
That LP sounds killer. As does your playing. I'm not sure, but I think Steve Lukather also used Schecters with MonsterTone pickups (but that must have been during the Bradshaw era), Valley Arts Strats and then MusicMan of course.
Thanks so much! Yeah, I used to have a Lukather model VA back in the day. Great guitar!
I think he used hi LP 59 burst on the record.
Blue sounds a bit more like Luke overall. Great ear. Luke gets a bit fuzzy but sometimes he's real sharp and bright. Love his fuzz dirt tone. His use of effects especially more recently with his Bogner/pedalboard rig is stellar. Just killer.
Who doesn’t like Steve Lukather ?🤔
20% too much distortion 😉
Yeah, I think I agree with you. Gain is an addicting thing!
@@ShawnTubbs Ain't it the truth 🤣
