- I'm about 7 months late, but here's my detailed review of the Hot Wheels Space Ranger Buggy Remote Controlled vehicle as part of Mattel's 5" scale action figure collection! This is the last Lightyear 5" toy review I needed to complete before the next waves hit. Now I can move onto other caetgories like the Hyperspeed Series and Large Scale vehicles! I finally got one for myself, and the decals are backwards on the one side too lol.
I was watching a video where they mention the original Star Trek series Enterprise film model (model ship they used to film with) had reverse decals because they could only film from one side, and they'd mirror the image later if they needed to show the Enterprise flying in the other direction. The backwards decals in the mirrored film would make it look correct... maybe this is a homage to that? Lol. Probably not, but fun fact anyway.

Glad it has an actual remote. Too many RC toys now don't have one and I don't want to have to own a smartphone just to make my toys work. For the buggy I fit 3 figures in just fine.... as long as one of them is not Space Ranger Buzz. I have Fremont and either an XL or Base Uniform Buzz in the buggy's front seats and then whomever I want on the gun.
Good insights! Thanks for the comment. And agreed. Yah I totally get you can fit smaller figures, I guess my point was that they don’t fit as well with the figures they show on the actual box. Regardless, I still think it’s too tight of a squeeze and that it should have been just a bit wider, but just my opinion! 😊

Probably not because he’s the tallest of the bunch and has pretty big legs/feet 😕 but probably an XL suit Buzz would fit better!
Looks great. I saw a video awhile back where someone was planning to put the Star Command utility truck body on the buggy's "frame" to make an RC utility truck. I hope we see more 5" scale vehicles, like the big truck the Jr. Zap Patrol has... or the Semi sized trucks seen in the Art of Lightyear book.
