"If you don't like my singing then just don't watch me." THANK YOU! This is YOUR channel. Do as YOU please. Do not let peer pressure, analytics, whatever stop you from doing YOU! I'm so glad that you're back.
Me too. I remember my parents working hard but were still poor...with one kid. Everybody we knew was working hard in the eighties but being taxed to death and barely able to make it.
Same! I graduated in 85. I was a teen. I knew rich ppl (or ppl who thought they'd become rich per his admin) LOVED him. And poor ppl LOATHED him. That's it! Probably same as you. // I hope it's safe to say this to you- but is your ghast as flabbered as mine at the GLARING similarities between Reagan & Trump? 🤯. I feel like DT took the most evil pages out of the playbooks of Regan, Hitler, Jung un, Putin, etc., & said "Welp! I have no idea what I'm doing, but I love this power & praise, so I'll just cherry pick from all these guys I slobber over so much, mash it all together, throw it out there & see how many ppl bite. I know I've got the Regan ppl already!" . 🤯OH! That explains why so many ppl 70+ love Trump. (I just now had that epiphany!).
@@Nina-fh1bg It does line up with how, in the 50's, 60's, & ( for the most part) the 70's, the vast majority of families did "relatively okay" to "quite comfy", but after that, it became difficult and then IMPOSSIBLE for mom to stay home & dad's income was sufficient. 🤷
Any one notice how Ronald R.'s slogan was "Let's Make America Great Again." And Donald T.' Slogan was "Make America Great Again." Dang. The 2 worst Presidents we had were Donald and Ronald.😏😏😏😯😯😁😁😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👀👀👀
@@mslidiaalvarez idk what other people be saying but the education system needs to funded, but first just got to destroy it and rebuild it from the ground up the RIGHT way. The only classes that should stay the same is science. That class has taught me so much and it actually being a little useful to this day. All the other classes need some changing, history needs to be more blunt and tell us all of the story. Language arts needs to actually use modern techniques. Math needs to be okay if some kids do it a little different and if kids need help it shouldn’t be as embarrassing like making sure the teachers work with all students with not so good grades privately. Writing just needs to be more flexible and give the kids choices on what they are writing on because with one choice you aren’t attached to in any way can make writing a burden and well writing isn’t. I ain’t saying school should be fun but school should not be something you hate since it is so strict. It is needs to be a little less strict in needed areas. The extra classes like art,P.E.,technology, etc. are for another day.
The government is literally hemorrhaging money at the moment. This is OUR money. I'm not quite sure how anyone could expect a entity that is so fiscally irresponsible to teach children how to be fiscally responsible
Don't ask me why but my mind is literally blown by the fact that he was born in 1911! He's such a talked about historical figure and like I couldn't tell you what years he was president but it doesn't seem like that long ago? the way people talk about it you know, so knowing that he was born over a hundred years ago just blows my mind 🤯
It’s not that long ago. I grew up in the 80s when he was President. I am in my 40s. A hundred years is about how long someone lives. Although he died in like 2004.
I was definitely impacted by Reaganomics. My Mom passed in 1993 and I just finished my first year of college. When attempting to get her Social Security benefits to help pay tuition I was told I would only receive a one time payment of $255 because of the changes implemented by Reagan to Social Security during his time in office. My Mom contributed to SS for YEARS and I could get NOTHING! I never knew it was because RR STOLE IT ALL 😤Thankfully I was able to graduate but it was the HARDEST time in my life financially (and emotionally to say the least).
You and I are around the same age. I graduated from high school in 1993. Sadly, the same thing happened to my parents. My daddy passed away on August 31, 2021, and his SSI was direct deposited into his account as usual on September 3, 2021. On September 6th, the US Treasury yanked that money out of his account. I needed that money to pay his bills for September. I called the US Treasury to find out why they took the money back, and they said, “Your father didn’t live the whole month.” I said, he died on 08.31.2021. That’s the whole month! They said, “No ma’am. Your father died at 6:30 pm. If he had lived until midnight, you would’ve been able to keep the money.” So according to the US Government, my father, a US Army Veteran, needed to struggle to live until midnight to receive his last SSI check. 😡 R.I.P. Daddy 💔 He found my mama’s lifeless body in bed on the morning of November 4, 2020. All he got was that sorry $255 check. R.I.P. Mommy 💔 #TogetherAgain ❤️🕊
@@ChavonJWright I mean from the theme song to me it sounds like she not a singer singer. Lol Of course anyone can sing but she doesn’t seem like she would sound good if she got on stage and sang a song. Lol And that’s no shade that’s coming from an actual vocalist. I know she’s gorgeous but there are gorgeous girls out there that can’t sing a lick lol Anyway the point is I love the theme song anyway regardless of her voice. Lol
As a first generation Salvadoran American, who’s mom who suffered first hand of the Salvadoran civil war and Reagan’s death squads at just merely 6 years old - I appreciate this!
Reagan didn't approve 'death squads', in fact he sent Vice President Bush to El Salvador personally to tell the government to reign in the right as well as the left wing terrorists.
God loves you and will never stop loving you. He loves us so much that he sent his only son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. Jesus died and rose again 3 days later. If you believe that Jesus died and rose again 3 days later you shall not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16❤️❤️❤️
Reagan never defunded mental hospitals. Funding went up. They just stopped involuntarily committing people to mental hospitals for life. He closed down the houses of horror in California. And that was 55 years ago, so obviously the issue has its reasons quite separate from what occurred half a century ago.
I was a waitress in the seventies and could pay bills etc. he became Governor here in SoCal and after he was done, work wasn’t worth the time invested. He put tax on our tips with an ‘assumption’ clause like, presuming we got 10-15% per hour(?) been awhile but, he also let restaurants charge us 20% food charge each 6 hrs shift if we ate or not! We servers started loosing income fast! And then he became President and screwed it all up even more. Not a fan!
This is why I love history and this series. History is the blueprint to patterns that can be devastating. Did anyone else pickup that Trump replicated Reagan's exact campaign!?!?! Down to running under the republican party after being known as a Democrat.
The welfare queen part reminded me of when the Trump administration accused that widowed lady of voting as her dead husband when all she did was use her husbands name as a prefix? Ie: Mrs. John Smith. They tried to use her as the poster child for voter fraud.
@@brandydrogo4289 Yes! This tells me this Lady was quite elderly. That's just how married ladies referred to themselves in formal & legal sitches. This whole story is made me think I could Interchange the names Trump & Regan & have the same story, except the re-election, RR wasn't a cheating womanizer, & instead of astrology, Trump has "Q", yet both pretended to be Christian.
That’s all I could think of and think of the old saying nothing is new under the sun! This is why we need to learn history ALL of it. The good, bad and the ugly.
Omg yes!!!! I didn't even know all of this about Reagan, but Trump followed everything he did to the letter....probably intentional if I had to guess from the campaign management because they knew people liked Reagan....mind blown!! 🤯
If it were up to me, I'd rename everything named after Reagan to something else. He was the WORST president of the 20th century. And Donald Trump is the worst of the 21st (so far).
Nancy was very reliant on psychics, numerology and other readings in living her life and making decisions. After her husband left office her White House staff openly admitted Nancy heavily used the feedback in her psychic readings to influence her husbands timing for event planning and making decisions regarding political and governance type events (aka running the nation). My sister went to the same very, very small boarding school in Arizona as their daughter, Patti Davis.....oh the stories! 🙄
Wow. I feel like that's an interesting combination of conservative values yet leaning on astrology. But I guess not too much if she also religious. It takes the same easy/small faith to believe in Christianity as it does to believe in astrology/psychics.
Katelyn Brown but at least you can actually see the stars, and you can see the demonstrated effect of physics on the world around us. I’ve never seen god or Jesus. Historians aren’t even convinced that he ever existed. 🤷🏽♀️
This was so good! Please make part two about Reagan imperialism, like funding both sides of the Iran Iraq war, and being caught illegally funding terrorists in Afghanistan and Nicaragua, as well as his involvement in the Guatemalan Genocide.
It’s funny to see how much Trump tried to parallel RR. Makes sense why so many people liked him, since it’s prob the same people they still ride for RR
It’s the craziest thing to me, because pretty much all of the job loss problems in the Midwest and rural towns that Trump exploited for populist support literally trace back directly to Reagan’s policies
I was in high school in the 80s when Reagan was in office. I always knew about this lying, cruel, hateful man. I remember when mental hospitals were no longer funded, you started seeing mental hospitals close and mentally ill people just walking the streets in droves and it continues today. And people loosing social security income. What you see today was never seen prior to Reagan.
I love how balanced you are! You manage to be your opinionated self, without pushing an agenda. As much as you clearly dislike the guy, you still report the good things he did. I think even a Regan fan would find your reporting accurate. Also, your snow leopard eye makeup was cute with the shirt. It made your eyes remind me of a frozen lake in the snow.
I wouldn’t give the education system credit for that. I think it’s really just increasing access to information, and increasing interest in seeking that information. A lot of what young people know today isn’t even taught in school. Self education is so valuable.
@@dewilew2137 you should remember that the attack on public education did not stop with RR so the quality of what kids get in schools today, particularly in urban neighborhood, isn't what it could have been. Also, seeking to deny citizens quality education has often been a way to control the masses. It's a way to keep them ignorant and poor. After all, if you poorly educated them your rich business owning friends can justify paying them poorly.
I like the signing-you enjoy it and that’s what matters. Great video on Ronald Reagan. I was born in the late 80’s and my family kept saying how great he was. I did some research and I was not too impressed about many of his policies-particularly how he handled the AIDS epidemic or lowering corporate tax rates. Thank you for doing this video.
It's so true that if we don't learn History it will continue to repeat itself. There are people still doing similar things today but people say it's going to work. Eventhough the history has shown us it does not!
True. I'm not American but I hear people today saying the government needs to let businesses operate unimpeded and that will solve a lot of issues - saying this as if it hasn't been tried and failed/had negative consequences before. Yet these same people can look back and say communism always fails and has negative consequences.
“I wasn’t even born yet and I got played… I fell right into it” That was hilarious 😂😂😂 Was hoping you’d mention his role in gun control laws after Black Panthers marched on the capital in 1967. Maybe in part two???
*sees pictures of younger Reagan* Me: Okay, I guess I can see why she said he was one of the best looking presidents. This video was fascinating. I was born *just* after Reagan's presidency, but I can remember watching coverage of his funeral in the mid 2000's. It definitely played up the whole "ending the Cold War" thing. Then later as an adult I would hear people criticize Reaganomics but didn't know details. Will be interested to see part two!
Shitttttttttt i never realized all of this. After hearing all my life about how great Reagan was, i guess i never questioned it, never even thought about it. *screams into the void***
I’ve actually used your videos on some history for my students. You have no idea how helpful you are and keep going! You’ll bet I’ll be using more of your videos down the future!
Yes queen! We all should read the book The Decay of american people and the United States, by Norberto Keppe. This book talks a lot of the historical social background on the 1980's and about Reagan misdeeds
For reals, we are basically back to the 30s and a lot of us aren't seeing the parallels because we are supposedly "modern", but these companies are creating monopolies and are super greedy. They don't even pay their workers a fare wage but relish off the workers back for them to reach their millions and billions lol. Paying their workers right and getting them taxed is chump change to them but they don't want to. Not to mention that they will still have enough money to be richer than everyone, if they paid everyone right and they themselves got taxed right. The common peeps are taxed and penalized for so many things but the rich can get away with so much. And we get so much smoke from the rich when they start pitting the common peeps against each other. It is really sad to see and acknowledge. It can feel hopeless at times haha. And this is just the tip of the ice berg because this unequal level of power runs incredibly deep. Like we still need to give reparations to communities of color that were stripped of their liberty and freedom, or just how the states destabilized so many countries and so forth.
@@biancapascarella7454 wholeheartedly agree. But we got to start that movement and really educate ourselves and everyone else who is struggling what solutions we can do so not everyone is suffering and working 3 jobs to have money to save, pay bills, or pay off crazy amounts of debt and have money to spend. But also highlight what the Nation itself has done the last couple hundred years that still affects all of us today and not gaslight other issues at hand because everything is connected at the end of the day. It is a lot because so many peoples lives were basically not theirs and owned by corporations. Last time I checked my mom gave birth to me and she doesn't slave drive me lol not like some corporations that piggy back off our backs. It is so weird to me how some people do not understand that we should all not be struggling this bad just to live ya know? Sometimes I like to imagine the people in power wearing a sports jersey and seeing who is sponsoring them. Like who is paying for their decisions because, let us be real.. We really don't have a lot of people in power at the moment who clearly have us in their mind. Or we haven't in such a long time. We just get breadcrumbs. They cater to us during campaign runs but turn the cheek once they are in power. It is really sad lol sorry for ranting. Just observations I have noticed and wonder if anyone else sees the same thing as I do.
Thank you for this video! You give such great perspective on the timeline & I think make it obvious why the older generation liked the cheeto so much - he gave them Raegan nostalgia in so many ways.
It’s incredible to me that there was so much of this I never learned about. I don’t know how anyone could look into his policies and the ways he conducted himself and think he was a good president. Our current systems are in shambles because of his tax breaks and we continue to fall down a seemingly never ending hole of underfunding or not funding programs to help people. It just makes no sense to me. I also think he gave rich people too much credit with the tax breaks and trickle down economics. If we as a society have learned anything over the course of our time as a country, it’s that we’re greedy. We don’t share when we aren’t forced to and we’re culturally conditioned to be individualist and have an “us versus them” mentality. People cling onto their money no matter what. I’m really curious as to how he thought those policies would eventually reach poor people.
It’s “Reagan”-the only reason why I’m pointing that out is that RR’s Secretary of the Treasury was, believe it or not, Donald Regan, a former CEO of Merrill Lynch who basically put supply-side economics into practice. Regan later moved over to the White House and became Chief of Staff and played a major role in the Iran-Contra scandal.
When he said trees causes more pollution didnt someone tell him trees send out oxygen for us to breathe in? Trees hold the land together and many other good things for humans.
This is so interesting and I can't wait to see part 2. It's so great seeing you again. I love your videos.💙 I agree with you about needing more parties and needing to revamp our political system.
I hope she talks about him and Nancy's endorsement of programs like Straight Inc in part 2 (maybe as a side note to the woefully ineffective "just say no" campaign). This particular program was shut down because of numerous ab*se allegations and took the ab*se to a whole new scale. Straight Inc. is considered a part of the TTI or troubled teen industry of which notable figures such as Paris Hilton and Kat Von D are survivors of. These programs took "unruly," mentally ill or just plain ol' foster kids that had no where else to go, often kidnapped them in the middle of the night and inflicted psychological, physical and occasionally s*xual ab*se on them for anywhere to 6 weeks to 2-3 years. There are many living survivors of the straight Inc. program in particular and many of them are in their 30s and 40s now. A lot of the atrocities and big mistakes Reagan and his administration made still have profound affects on generations of people who lived during the time and generations of Americans after the fact. The TTI is alive (Gen Z person who went through it myself here) and well and the 80s and 90s were actually a great time for facilities financially. In addition to straight up mentioning and endorsing a facet of this industry by name (especially with the weight of his title at the time), his laissez faire attitude allowed healthcare and by default "therapeutic boarding schools" to do as they please with virtually no government oversight. There is still no single federal program responsible for recording and investigating deaths that occur in psychiatric facilities and residential treatment centers. The last major regulation regarding programs at the federal level was in 2007 after the GAO investigated dozens of deaths in these programs ranging from causes such as s*icide, improper restraint, dehydration and heat stroke. Thankfully states likes Utah and recently Oregon are passing laws to protect kids from this with the push of activists and endorsement from celebrities. Paris Hilton has been very vocal about what happened to her at Provo Canyon School and she testified in front of Utah's congress to get the protection bill passed.
Hey Cyndee, love your videos! Joe Biden is indeed the oldest president to date, currently 78 years old. Trump was second-oldest, 70 years when inaugurated.
So the issue with how we do social security is this (I'm no expert but this is from what I remember with undergrad) : it's not like a savings pot. Current payouts go to current retirees. That's why we hear alot about social security being in jeopardy, we don't have enough younger/healthy taxpayers to pay for the current boomer generation. Mainstream economists may dance around (E.g. Like totally ignore potential) solutions like more immigration or family friendly policies to encourage higher population (and other less mainstream theories would say just print the money) but in sum, yeah that's the issue. Our government and political system frustrates me to no end too.
Hi. You sound very callous. You are right to, in my opinion. The bottom line is, however, that SSI doesn't work if the baby boomers refuse to yeild to natural old age and death. I've spoken to my family. My mother and her siblings feel entitled to seek obscure, expensive treatments to prolong their comfort and quality of life. The treatments they are procuring are not equitable to the value of the money and work hours they have put into the system. They seem to view the labor of their children as less intense or valuable than their own. What I have observed, consistently in the past 20 years, is that parents, including celabrities, politicians, and welfare parents, use their children as crutches. Every parent who has inspired and diligently supported their children will know love and support when they are in need. Children will beg them to "Come here. Live Here. Be with us. We want you." Parents who have used their children to fulfill their own needs, will not receive the same support.
It's *kind of* a shared fund. How much you get out when you retire is based on how much you earned in your last five years in the workforce (and you have to have contributed for 40 quarters (ie, 10 years) to qualify). One reason economists like immigrants is that many of them work here in the US and pay into Social Security, but then move back home for their retirement years without becoming citizens. So all that time they're paying into Soc Sec, making it more solvent, but never drawing out from it when they leave.
Exactly. I watched a documentary called the silver tsunami, and it was about this massive generation of boomers who were ready to start collecting retirement, which was going to cause economic problems because the money isn’t there. It isn’t just social security either. Many pensions are under funded, as well as many retirement funds. This was supposed to become issue right as covid started. And we all know the economic issues that are going to hit us from that for the next ten years. That in combination with the silver tsunami, and extremely high national debt, could be very problematic
I was like an addict looking everyday waiting for a makeup and history video 😭 Im so happy you brought back the theme song too I sing it all the time now my boyfriend sings it with me 😂
A lot of people love him and it's interesting wondering why those people do, considering the lives they are living. I unfortunately live somewhere where everyone loves him, and yet can't figure out how that man helped those people in any kind of way.
It's the old "get a group of people to believe they are better than other groups in their society and make that group an enemy to blame all their current woes and societal status on" ploy that seems to work every time. It like destroys people's working braincells and makes them pliable zombies. -_-

I remember reading that Regan started to listen the astrologer Joan Ceciel, because she "warned" him that March 30, 1981 was a very dangerous day for him. So after being shot, she was hired to check all dates for him, and if something was scheduled on a disadvantageous day they would reschedule it. I adore your Makeup & History episodes and always look forward to the next one!

I was just watching a Hitler documentary and I heard him say "let's make this country GREAT AGAIN"... Let me find out Reagan got that phrase from a Nazi🥴
Really, which one? I used to watch a lot of WWII and Holocaust docs. in hs and I understood that was his whole goal but I never heard his say that exact line😳 That wouldn’t surprise me though. Am. has a history of “sleeping w/ the enemy” if it means maintaining their position of power so using the words of an enemy isn’t too far fetched🤷♀️😬
I grew up during Reagan’s presidency. It’s the poorest my family ever was. It’s the worst struggles we ever had. It’s why I have never been able to get on board with all the love people have for him.
I grew up in the 80s Cydney in the straight up hood. And yes there were a lot of welfare queens in my neighborhood. My mother grew up on a plantation as a share cropper and worked her way up from down south to Michigan and owning her own house. Our state was one of the highest paying welfare states in the U.S. at the time. People from everywhere were moving to our state to get on welfare. As the welfare recipients increased the crime went up. This bothered my mother to no end. She worked hard Everyday and whenever these people wanted a raise they had another baby. It was not good for the kids or the neighborhood. I could go on and on about my first hand information, because I WAS THERE and I DID SEE. You have to understand Cydney in most places rent ranged from less than $200 a month to $300. If you paid more than that for rent you lived on the good side Of town in my city. So welfare benefits started out at around $385 per month plus food stamps and Medicaid. Every child a woman had without a father in the home netted her about an extra 100 - 150 dollars. So if that woman in Chicago was bringing in 8gs Um yeah, she was using a whole lot of social security numbers & not just two. It was harder for them to catch that stuff back then. I remember when my republican Governor finally brought in rules that made people have to either - work, volunteer or go to school to continue getting welfare benefits and they were up in arms about that. Because by then 2 generations of folks had made this the norm. You really had to be there. Speaking as a person who veered away from my mother’s values and received ADC myself at a time. That’s why I know!
It’s beautiful, crazy, a little scary, and so interesting how history just keeps repeating itself. It’s almost like we’re kind of stuck in this never ending cycle until we learn our lesson as humanity. This fact is actually making me fall in love with history as an adult
Absolutely love your story telling Cydnee. It is a talent that seems to be fading more and more in today's world. So happy to have another Makeup and History.
Good to see you again. You did a great job with this video. I grew up as a child in the 80s in Detroit. The effects of his presidency could be seen in the city. Many people lost jobs and crack cocaine was rampant. Just terrible. I have the same sentiments as you do about RR. Thank you for making this video to shed light on RR that many didn't know about. I can't wait to see part 2.
Funny that Nancy Reagan was all superstitious, considering when she went to christen the USS Ronald Reagan, the bottle didn’t break. Having served on that ship, I can tell you that ship is cursed. We blame her.
@@nunyabusinessbih It's such a long story. I grew up very poor. Dad in prison, mom a junkie, and me in foster care for my teen years. I also was a teen mom with a massive amount of medical issues. I ended up getting a colostomy bag at 16 and those problems didn't ease up until my mid 20s. But I decided I was going to do better. I never got welfare. Instead I worked 2 jobs. I slowly worked my way up and I am now a teacher. I had so many obstacles and I made it to the other side. When my mom did get better she put herself through college and became a nurse. We were worse off. She originally received housing (section 8), food stamps, childcare, medical insurance, plus more. We were poorer with her working than we were on welfare. She made pretty good money but welfare was easier and she had less responsibility. What would you choose? Often as a society we pick the easier road even when it's not what is best for us in the end. I am by no means saying it should be removed but I definitely think it should have more stringent regulations. It should be a hand up and not a hand out. I could get into the Man-in-the-house rule of 1968 and the stats that show it was pivotal in the breakdown of the nuclear family but also that it was even more devastating to African American families. How welfare is a major component in draining government coffers, and that socially it often does more damage than good. But I am sure I have bored you to tears by now. I think Cyndee is sweet and her video was her opinion. I did not dislike it, I simply disagreed with her. And the original comment to this thread was silly to me. How many people with billions or even millions of dollars watch this channel? I am guessing not many. To say that the only reason someone might disagree is because they're privileged is ridiculous. It might be because we may just be a little more informed about this topic, whether it's that we were personally affected or we actually are educated about it. I am sure there are a few people who just don't like her for whatever reason, although I can't imagine that's possible. 😊
Cydnee, I just wanna give you a hug. Here I am 45 years old and watching your videos because it feels like I'm hanging out with my younger self doing facials or something! xD That quirky little inbetween stuff you do is ME, so thank you for taking me down memory lane (I know, sounds kinda weird). I'd like add: please ignore rude people, they're jealous of your joy and success. Let then and their discontent roll right off your back!
There were also moved toward a capitalist mindset occurring within the elites of the USSR. Because greed. So they were pushing Gorbachev to make reforms, which he did. That also helped end Soviet style state socialism* (I refuse to call or communism, because it wasn’t. And they would have told you that. They said they were communists because that was the ultimate goal, not that they ever actually achieved it. No one has. Communism (the official definition) is a stateless, classless, moneyless society organised according to the adage “from each according to ability, to each according to need”. Does that sound like any country in the world in any time in recent history or now? No, it doesn’t. The USSR wasn’t Communist, it was run by people who claimed to be ideologically communist. Same with China, which isn’t even socialist anymore (socialism being the worker/community control or ownership of the means of production, as opposed to capitalism which is the private ownership of the means of production) Yes, I do get a bit anal about this stuff. I studied it for 6 years, and studying something for that long will do that to you.
Love to see you boo! CANT WAIT FOR PRT 2! Love your and KEEP EM COMING !🤎🤎🤎 learning so much from these videos! It’s basically like school again BUT FUN !!!
Thank you for being so informative! I was alive during the but was only 8 when the 80's started, so I didn't know much back then. The only thing I was that parents are very conservative, voted for Reagan and loved him. I had no idea how evil he was at the time. Evil, evil man. And a huge reason why, in the 90's my generation, Gen X got the "slacker" label. Minimum wage did not keep up with inflation and we couldn't afford a place to live, car and food and bills with just one job. To make it worse, Boomers and Silent Gen parents were unaware of just how much things had changed since they were young and starting out on their own. I really hope Gen X parents are more understanding of what millennials and Gen Z are going through now.
My husband and I were born in '76 and '72 and we're just explaining this to our 14yo son. Things changed and made it harder for his three adult brothers. Things will be even tougher for him, as well as his two younger brothers. My husband was a gaming slacker for years before getting his act together and going to college. He was lucky to walk into a good job. It's not as easy now. I was a homeschooling mom in both of my marriages (with occasional PT jobs) but SAHM are disappearing. There's a rough road ahead for most future adults.
Saying that being an actor helps you in the presidency isn't saying that it helps you lie as so much that it helps you with being in the public's eye, helps you handle public scrutiny, and yes it may help you be able to perform under pressure, and not over expose yourself publicly. All things that every political person has had to either come into the game knowing, or learn on the job. He had a leg up being in the entertainment industry.
Thank you for bringing up this period in the US history! RR really has had a hand in destroying the USSR and interfering with many other socialist governments, which threw the humanity back from the social equality standpoint. Love your delicate but still bold criticism of the system that to this day is the source of inequality issues of all kinds
@@kaavi1391 what made you think it was a "totalitarian hell"? Sorry, but they lied to you. Please try to study this state's whole history, it absolutely had it's flaws but the picture western propaganda paints is SO far from reality you'd be shaken. Don't only look into the 80-s period when USSR was deteriorating. But even in that period people had more freedom than in a capitalist society.
Regan was the first President I remember as a child. I remember my grandma n her friends working at the polls. At the time I couldn’t relate to how they felt when Regan got elected the 2nd time all I know they was devastated. Hindsight me feeling the same way when Trump got elected.
From what I understand, social security isn't just set aside for you whenever you retire it's l spent as soon as it's taken out to pay for other people's social security that they are using currently? I could be wrong.
I hope you get to talk about what he did to a bunch of Latin countries. I'm salvadorian and I hate his guts. A lot of people don't know about his real intentions of "stopping the spread of communism"
I grew up in the 80's, was impacted by his administration (dad was a ATC during the strike for safe conditions), & then in welfare with all the stigmatized attached to it. It was a time of great excess for some & great poverty for everyone else. The lies were blatant, yet those who wanted to believe them & leaned into bigotry were also harmed if they fell below the upperclass line. Things we aren’t taught in American schools - budgeting, investment strategy, how to efficiently plan for retirement...
Yup, and we sure cant be taught that when we defund the education system
Most economics curriculum includes budgeting. And the idea if "planning efficiently" is subjective.🤷🏽♀️
SAME!!! I was like.. she sure??? Lol
He was an old president.

You ever wonder why there is such a huge homeless issue lately? Thank Ronald Reagan and him defunding mental hospitals.
Exactly
Reagan never defunded mental hospitals. Funding went up. They just stopped involuntarily committing people to mental hospitals for life. He closed down the houses of horror in California.

Of course he wants to get rid of the education system. The kids are learning and fighting him and learning to think for themselves. Lol.
We really need to do something about the tax situation. How in the world do we have someone like Elon Musk paying no taxes? It's insane
"Think for yourself...while you still can." 😬 Spoooooky
Terrifying given the current climate

Thank you for doing all the research and putting it all in one place. Plus I get to see great makeup ideas!
Hey Cyndee, love your videos!
Joe Biden is indeed the oldest president to date, currently 78 years old. Trump was second-oldest, 70 years when inaugurated.
“Thanks a lot Nancy” LMAO
@@misterrea861 thanks for that further explanation!

Me too...hope things calm down for the both of us!
Praying for u
If only our teachers taught us like this, I would have loved history!
🎉🎉 yes the theme song is back 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
I remember reading that Regan started to listen the astrologer Joan Ceciel, because she "warned" him that March 30, 1981 was a very dangerous day for him. So after being shot, she was hired to check all dates for him, and if something was scheduled on a disadvantageous day they would reschedule it. I adore your Makeup & History episodes and always look forward to the next one!
Her name is Joan Quigley. Where did you get Ceciel? lol
There is a short podcast about the "Welfare Queen" and her true life, called "The Queen". You should check it out!
Where can I find it?
@@luciadreaming9 I just checked and apparently it's changed its name to One Year 1977. It's a Slate podcast and you can still find the 4 episodes on The Queen on their feed on Spotify.
I was just watching a Hitler documentary and I heard him say "let's make this country GREAT AGAIN"... Let me find out Reagan got that phrase from a Nazi🥴
Really, which one? I used to watch a lot of WWII and Holocaust docs. in hs and I understood that was his whole goal but I never heard his say that exact line😳
That wouldn’t surprise me though. Am. has a history of “sleeping w/ the enemy” if it means maintaining their position of power so using the words of an enemy isn’t too far fetched🤷♀️😬
I grew up during Reagan’s presidency. It’s the poorest my family ever was. It’s the worst struggles we ever had. It’s why I have never been able to get on board with all the love people have for him.
Weird. Poorest my family has ever been was during Obama’s presidency. It’s almost as if different people have different experiences 😂
@@glassshrimp5150 Obama isn’t that different from Reagan.
THANK YOU
Yay! She's back with another great historical story
It’s beautiful, crazy, a little scary, and so interesting how history just keeps repeating itself. It’s almost like we’re kind of stuck in this never ending cycle until we learn our lesson as humanity. This fact is actually making me fall in love with history as an adult
I missed these videos so much Cydnee!! I hope you like making them as much as your audience loves watching them :) Love you and stay safe!!
I feel so dumb that I didn’t know Reagan created the orange cheeto’s slogan. He didn’t even come up with his own slogan 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Im a California native. I am not surprised CA used to be a red state.
I love when you sing "Make up and his-torrrr-reeeee!"
Funny that Nancy Reagan was all superstitious, considering when she went to christen the USS Ronald Reagan, the bottle didn’t break.
Having served on that ship, I can tell you that ship is cursed. We blame her.
@beth T ‘ur’ ability to spell is atrocious. Do you forget proper spelling and syntax when your patron saint is attacked?
I love your channel, Cydnee! So interesting, and you're adorable too! 💚
The 35 dislikes are the silver spoon babies who wouldn't have their billions if it wasn't for Regan.
Or us poor folks who know that welfare is rarely the answer. I didn't dislike although I think she should stick to makeup. 😊
@@nunyabusinessbih lol. Some do. You cared enough to comment.
@@nunyabusinessbih 😊 It's an opinion. Nothing more. But if you feel you need to be her defender, do you...
@@briggyb you know what, I take back some of what I said because now I’m curious to know why you believe welfare is rarely the answer 🤔
Your Makeup & History are THE best!!! I always learn something!
" I personally hate his guts 😃"
Heh the smile was great lol
Reagan didn't end communism in the USSR. The expense of the Afghan war did. Reagan just took credit.
Gorbachev said it was the Chernobyl nuclear disaster that brought down the USSR. The expense of the Afghan war probably contributed too.
There were also moved toward a capitalist mindset occurring within the elites of the USSR. Because greed. So they were pushing Gorbachev to make reforms, which he did. That also helped end Soviet style state socialism*
(I refuse to call or communism, because it wasn’t. Same with China, which isn’t even socialist anymore (socialism being the worker/community control or ownership of the means of production, as opposed to capitalism which is the private ownership of the means of production)
Yes, I do get a bit anal about this stuff. I studied it for 6 years, and studying something for that long will do that to you.
@@katherinemorelle7115 That wasn't anal. I dug your reply.
@@katherinemorelle7115 I agree with uh dude why.
It was a very well informed reply.
Yep and we're going to be next, if we don't pull back our empire.

Trump was older than Reagan when he was elected so he beat Joe to it.
Eh, they can be just as Boomer-y if they got lucky like their parents
My first house, in 1980, cost 100$ a month split three ways. I was a student, worked part time and had a second-hand car. Life was good.
How is destroying a totalitarian hell hole like the USSR a bad thing ?
@@kaavi1391 what made you think it was a "totalitarian hell"? Sorry, but they lied to you. Please try to study this state's whole history, it absolutely had it's flaws but the picture western propaganda paints is SO far from reality you'd be shaken. Don't only look into the 80-s period when USSR was deteriorating. But even in that period people had more freedom than in a capitalist society.

From what I understand, social security isn't just set aside for you whenever you retire it's l spent as soon as it's taken out to pay for other people's social security that they are using currently? I could be wrong.
That's the way it is now thanks to Reagan stealing from it :-/

I grew up in the 80's, was impacted by his administration (dad was a ATC during the strike for safe conditions), & then in welfare with all the stigmatized attached to it. It was a time of great excess for some & great poverty for everyone else.
The lies were blatant, yet those who wanted to believe them & leaned into bigotry were also harmed if they fell below the upperclass line.
Not that different from what someone else has done more recently... no accountability will allow others to repeat the behavior.
