I was about 7 years old when this film came out in '73. My mum took me to see it, and after that I was so smitten with the film that I went back to my local cinema to watch it over and over, using the small amount of pocket money I could scrape together. I was a bit of a loner back then, and this film resonated deeply with my juvenile self. The cinema was within walking distance, I was quite tall for my age and back in the early 70's at such an early age, I had no concept then of the dangers that we recognise today. Never realized after all these years that this movie was released the same year I was born: 1973. And just 4 days before my birthday. This song always touched me. I used to play this song on my Disney albums back in the late 70s and early 80s. Now that I lost my mom, this song has taken on a whole new emotional meaning. Its so difficult to endure not having that ray of sunshine brighten your world anymore. I didn't just lose my mom, but my bestest friend in the whole world, since birth. The person who was the center of my world. I remember watching this movie with her....I miss you mom more than words will ever explain, but the love you gave and showed me goes on and on. The Chewy commercial and I knew it was a Disney song but could not remember which movie. So glad I found it, it was a favorite movie of my daughter and mine.
This song blasted into my brain this morning out of nowhere, so had to come listen to it. One of my favorite Disney movies, as well as being my dad's favorite. My kids have grown up loving it, too.
I was 10 years old and this is the first song which has made me feeling really love... I hadnt got my own mobile device to watch this video and I stole my mom`s laptop only to watch this scene and crying. I didnt understand why am I cry and these were beauty moments of my life. Today I`m 19 and this song is still sending shivers down my spine. Very beautiful and powerful.
This song is so true about life being brief No matter how old we are whenever that is 50 or 100 years old life is short. We should make the most of our life while we have it as people die every day. We simply don't know when our last day on earth is.
But I sometimes have thought that people were forcing me to die too old because I only did so many deeds to please other people for many years! Because of my autism, I wanted an alternative for whatever I doubted I’d like whether it was important or not, but there almost never was at least one, so I always had to do as I was told instead!
Spanish version translated (more or less) * “My love, it looks like yesterday When we being children, we played, promising eternal love to each other Now I love you as before Without thinking, we grow up already Time passed quickly And our love didn’t get erased It will forever live Time never passed this quick before Now life is going away It pass in a wink, but love Will forever live”
