Great bag. Easy duffle construction - no end-cap. Yay! This is so timely, my DGD will need a case for her hospital stay when she delivers our great-grandson! I’ll redraft to larger size, add exterior/interior pockets, and a smaller matching “ditty” bag for toiletries. Thank you for the inspiration. I just love your Channel, Christine! Please don’t ever stop!
1. I love how happy you are! 2. "I'm just too lazy" hahahaha I do the same thing 3. I have NEVER seen any other videos where they sew the boxed corners "together". I had no idea that you could do that. Now I know. Thank you
These look a little easier than some of the other boxed toiletry bags where the pieces are closer together when you sew. Definitely another one for the catch up list for my wife to want to make. Thank you.
❤❤❤ honestly, you’re simply amazing my hubby was just asking me if I could make him a bag to take to the gym. I’m gonna put a couple zippers in this thing and pockets And Make it a little bigger. You are ❤amazing. Thank you so much..
Super appreciate the all-purpose thread approach and mention, I got a good deal on two boxes of polyester threads in two dozen colours and am happy to work within their very basic thread functioning. :). This is in stark contrast my previous hobby of cardmaking, I got every kind of glue and tape imaginable and needed to be certain I was using the best adhesive for the situation. That got exhausting, so I'm happy to be learning a whole new creative skill with what I hope are better consumer attidused and choices. :) PS your tote is SO CUTE, omg!
Thanks Konjiki. I used to think I had to have the perfect product for anything I made as well. Mostly as I was told I "had to have it". I've since learned that there isn't one way to do things, and that we should make more use of what we have available to us.... I do still like the odd useless gadget or two😁
I love the video, only issue I had was that there were no details that the top of the bag was the 16" side so my first one was messed up. For beginners we forget sometimes and need very specific details. Thank you for time in making the video. :)
Thanks for this great tutorial. I have been through it once, now making my list of materials to do the bag. I need a small gym bag to carry tennies and a change of socks etc to go to the gym with. If it turns out as well as I expect, I will make some for my Etsy/Facebook page. Very excited. Also, thanks for suggesting what you will sell them for, although it sounds high to me, I always underestimate the value of my work.
Thanks Nickie. I still think my prices are high too sometimes, but am usually pleasantly surprised that people don't think twice about paying for my time😁
Christine, absolutely fabulous pattern. I just made it with Spider-Man fabric and it looks super!! You have such great patterns and your teaching is so easy to understand and a real pleasure to listen to!
You teach a lot better than any other videos I have looked at on this design box bag so I think I’m going to give it a go .. I get a lot of heavy curtains from a shop I go to all ex display ones .. so I’ll try some out on this type of bag . Thank you 🦋🦋🦋

How did I miss this?! Great tutorial Christine, thank you. I’ve learnt so much from you. I will definitely be making this one! Just wish I had a machine like yours, but sadly they’re not sold here in the U.K..😤
Gerry, look for the model number instead of the ProSew name. That is just a badge put on the machine for the store that sells them. You should find another company that will sell it with a different badge😁
@@ChristinesHomeAffairsthanks Christine, I’ll do that. We can get Juki, and a couple of other Japanese makes here in the U.K. perhaps Prosew sell under a different name..
I recently discovered your RUclips channel. I love your positive enthusiasm and how you relate so well to your viewers. I have made several of your projects already. Regarding this project, I was wondering if you sew all 4 of the boxed corners together, would you still be able to sew up the turning hole?
Thank you Mike. With this bag, the opening is on the side, so when you join the corners, it will be hidden, and you'll think it's disappeared. Just find your way between the layers, and you'll be able to pull it all through. I did another video recently (giant utility bag) that shows how to join corners, and I think that video has the opening at the bottom😀
Carol, I did a video a while back that doesn't have a zip. Here's the link. It does have a magnetic snap, but you can leave that out 😄 ruclips.net/video/iTYFvWMHUbA/видео.html
Hi Christine, I'm asking you to explain why the different methods of sewing the zipper section is used. in this pouch we can sew straight across, but others have outer and lining sewn up to the zipper separately then stitch across the zipper area. Thanks Christine. Perhaps the fabrics designate the methods?
Good question Carylanne. In this bag, I didn't feel the need to put tabs on the end, as the zipper ends on a flat section of the bag. This means that it will sit nicely without the added tabs. There's really no right or wrong way to do the zips. It's mostly personal choice, and whether or not it will affect how the bag will operate. Adding tabs, particularly when you have zips on corners, will help the corners sit better😀
Just watching this for the second time, to get measurement in my head (and writing it down)! I’ve just noticed your lovely shears, they look like tailoring shears. Where did you get those from? Will start this project tomorrow, 16/2/24.
Hi Christine! Love your videos❤ I'd like to make this as a regular size handbag. What size fabric main & lining would you suggest to begin with. The carry-on you made is a little bit too big and the smaller one too smaller, so something between those two sizes would be perfect. Thanks in advance!

A good alternative to fusible products, is to use a spray adhesive, or even double sided tape to keep things in place. I do this when I create patches. Glue sticks are great too..... Back to substitutes. You could use towlling or blanketing for soft waddings, denim for something a bit firmer, and then even a combination of products. Old coats or quilted gowns would be great too😀
