Hi Matt, checking in from Murphy, NC, all is good here my friend. So sorry you and your neighbors in Fairview didn't fair so well. Our entire county, (Cherokee) has been doing countless food, water and pet food drives all over town to bring to you guys who were hit so badly. Candler here. Our farm was destroyed, but Franklin was our savior. We frantic drove West looking for gas and food, and found it in Franklin. So grateful. It seems much less damage that way, and I am thankful you all missed the worst of it.

I've experienced my house being hit with trees before, one where it hit had it been 5 minutes earlier would have killed me as I was in that room. We've experienced having no power or running water for 2-3 weeks at a time. We have had roads around us completely washed away. Asheville and the surrounding areas getting damaged this badly is something I would have never expected. Usually around us sadly but I don't think the death toll has ever exceeded 20. This has been truly unbelievable. I have a friend here that is from Asheville and his family has still had no contact from his dad. My family has been donating as much as we can we understand the devastation of hurricanes. I could never in a million years imagine our community being turned into this from 1 storm. We already had very saturated soil from a previous system the same week. The hurricane, along with another system came through and rained us out all night. Most weren’t prepared for the flood. It’s possible when water is released from the dams and open the flood gates during the storm creating a wall of water destroying everything down stream in its path !!! This wasn’t just rain !!! People !!!
Drill small holes at the bottom of each stud and drywall section to let water out of the wall. Get mechanical advice, even from RUclips, for waterlogged cars.
With a large sized city that Ashville is , they should have had plenty of money in the budget for an emergency evacuation plan , proper areas marked as flood zones . Thier FY25 budjet says exactly where thier cares are , City Councils 6 Strategic Priorities for FY25: Neighborhood and Climate Resilience Equitable, Affordable Housing and Stability Improve and Maintain Infrastructure and Core Services Reparations Reimagining Public Safety Homelessness Strategies Ashville took in 250 billion in tourist dollars , looks like they don't care to spend that on the most important things and now they are in the pistion they are in with the mayor and her can't do attitude . The city goverment should be ashamed and the mayor should be ashamed, all that thinking with feelings instead of facts lead your whole city into the dark . As large as Ashville is there isn't a care or concern for that city , when plenty of little towns got wiped out completely and the citizen there already picking up the prices not waiting for a bail out !!! God bless American and God bless those who truly steped up in this event and are making a diffenrce with actions not just words !!
The numbers may be incorrect but the general message is right on the money. Liberal policies and really bad leadership exists in Asheville. A common sense approach is needed. Asheville is the only place I have been where a homeless man has a thousand dollar computer and a thousand dollar cell phone. What's up with that?
@@Matt-fl8uyWhat about the locals who have no financial gain from anything in Asheville, they can’t move back to Colorado or Portland. They’ve been here 150 years with no money to rebuild. The river arts district and biltmore will be fine. Those people bailed and left the rest of us to help ourselves.
FEMA has been on site since last Saturday and Biden has sent a billion dollars in emergency aid as well as contacted leaders down to the mayor of Asheville to ask them what they need.
I don't understand why people stayed in their homes when it's a known flood area. I know the hurricane predictive area was wide but the warnings were there and history of what a big hurricane can do to inland communities is also well documented. People don't want to leave their homes but I don't understand this because you can just treat it like going on holiday and just come back to your home in a week or so depending on the type of damage that happened in your area. It would be enormously hard to predict which places could be devastated given that so much construction happens everywhere which also alters the landscape so somewhere that hasn't flooded for lifespans may flood due to construction that happened towns away. I travelled into the city to my work for 18 years and always knew the areas that would flood so was vary but the last year I worked there was a huge amount of construction underground down in a low lying area, well that year when the cyclone season was on us, the area where all the highrise buildings had been constructed flooded so severely that businesses where wiped out which had never had problems since colonial times. If in doubt, piss off to a safe area and just rough it for a while till the hurricane/cyclone is finished. I've never seen one of your storms do this much widespread damage but they did predict the path the strength and the unpredictable quick action of this particular hurricane. I found it so weird that the outer eye of this storm was not damaging compared to everywhere else it touched.
It was the 14" of rain we got before the tropical storm hit that did this. I have a farm with horses and alpacas and 5 dogs forgive me for riding this out with my animals. Sometimes in the mountains the water has no where to go. But this is our home. That doesn't mean that we are stupid.
Here we go. I knew somebody in the comments was going to swear they had all the answers and provide absolutely ZERO value to the situation at hand. None of what you said contributes to society in any way. Congratulations. We’re all better now having heard your opinion. (Nobody cares)
ّ[5:109] In the day when Allah gathereth together the messengers, and saith: What was your response (from mankind) ? they say: We have no knowledge. Lo! Remember My favour unto thee and unto thy mother; how I strengthened thee with the holy Spirit, so that thou spakest unto mankind in the cradle as in maturity; and how I taught thee the Scripture and Wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel; and how thou didst shape of clay as it were the likeness of a bird by My permission, and didst blow upon it and it was a bird by My permission, and thou didst heal him who was born blind and the leper by My permission; and how thou didst raise the dead by My permission; and how I restrained the Children of Israel from (harming) thee when thou camest unto them with clear proofs, and those of them who disbelieved exclaimed: This is naught else than mere magic; [5:111] And when I inspired the disciples, (saying): Believe in Me and in My messenger, they said: We believe. Bear witness that we have surrendered (unto Thee) "we are muslims". [5:112] When the disciples said: O Jesus, son of Mary! Is thy Lord able to send down for us a table spread with food from heaven ? He said: Observe your duty to Allah, if ye are true believers. [5:113] (They said:) We wish to eat thereof, that we may satisfy our hearts and know that thou hast spoken truth to us, and that thereof we may be witnesses. [5:114] Jesus, son of Mary, said: O Allah, Lord of us! Send down for us a table spread with food from heaven, that it may be a feast for us, for the first of us and for the last of us, and a sign from Thee. Give us sustenance, for Thou art the Best of Sustainers. [5:115] Allah said: Lo! I send it down for you. And whoso disbelieveth of you afterward, him surely will I punish with a punishment wherewith I have not punished any of (My) creatures. [5:116] And when Allah saith: O Jesus, son of Mary! Didst thou say unto mankind: Take me and my mother for two gods beside Allah ? he saith: Be glorified! It was not mine to utter that to which I had no right. If I used to say it, then Thou knewest it. Thou knowest what is in my mind, and I know not what is in Thy Mind. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Knower of Things Hidden ? [5:117] I spake unto them only that which Thou commandedst me, (saying): Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. I was a witness of them while I dwelt among them, and when Thou tookest me Thou wast the Watcher over them. Thou art Witness over all things. [5:118] If Thou punish them, lo! they are Thy slaves, and if Thou forgive them (lo! they are Thy slaves). Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Mighty, the Wise. [5:119] Allah saith: This is a day in which their truthfulness profiteth the truthful, for theirs are Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they are secure for ever, Allah taking pleasure in them and they in Him. That is the great triumph. [5:120] Unto Allah belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is therein, and He is Able to do all things.

There are volunteers, national guard and government people (local, state, and Fed) all over the ground. Organization is the hardest obstacle. But Everyone is working together, including the government, to help. Except for the GD internet trolls, which are actively out to harm ALL of our efforts.
Kudos on the night pics. That gas station!

Why is there no cell service anyone
Are there any animations to how that happened? The hurricane reached all the way over there or was it that it rained a lot?
This needs to be looked into
We already had very saturated soil from a previous system the same week. The hurricane, along with another system came through and rained us out all night. Most weren’t prepared for the flood. Our river rose to record breaking heights and washed out entire towns and cities around us. The entire region completely lost phone service. No one could call each other and it was a recipe for disaster. I’m in Asheville NC. Been living her all my life and never seen anything like this before.
@Borgodz
It's a shame our Government couldn't stop everything and fly in thousands of soldiers/rescuers/emt's to help you folks.
It's sad Biden/Harris will help illegal immigrants but not their fellow Americans
I'm in western NC just waiting for the government to treat us as if we were Americans.... think about that

Yay, Roy Cooper! Help is already there!
I live in Candler in Western North Carolina I have seen some pretty disturbing things the last week I really feel bad for the elderly that are on oxygen I was lucky enough to help get oxygen to some and was able to help with food and fuel with others but the whole neighborhood came together and thankfully things are starting to smooth out a little but the amount of damage is kind of biblical
Where's the Help
Horrific. Lets see how quickly our towns get money to recover. Foreign goverments like Israel, get billion$ of tax dollars each year.
Well it helps if you are jewish in NC

id rather face a hurricane here on the beaches in sw florida then up in the mountains… this is a horrible catastrophe

"Make mud, not war" vibes all over this
Why does this video have so many ignorant people commenting??
Unbelievable! I want to help!
And I I’ve at the foothills of Asheville in Morganton
i’m in the foothills too. are y’all doing okay in Morganton?
I just saw pictures of Morganton on Facebook. You got hit pretty bad.
OMG
With a large sized city that Ashville is , they should have had plenty of money in the budget for an emergency evacuation plan , proper areas marked as flood zones . Thier FY25 budjet says exactly where thier cares are ,
City Councils 6 Strategic Priorities for FY25:
Neighborhood and Climate Resilience
Equitable, Affordable Housing and Stability
Improve and Maintain Infrastructure and Core Services
Reparations
Reimagining Public Safety
Homelessness Strategies
Ashville took in 250 billion in tourist dollars , looks like they don't care to spend that on the most important things and now they are in the pistion they are in with the mayor and her can't do attitude .
Surreal. I hope People on billionaires row are watching in New York and pouring help because this is horrendous.

Oh no....not the river arts district.
Which is a major driver of tourism to this area, which is the leading industry.
@@Matt-fl8uyWhat about the locals who have no financial gain from anything in Asheville, they can’t move back to Colorado or Portland. They’ve been here 150 years with no money to rebuild.

Lo! Thou, only Thou art the Knower of Things Hidden,
[5:110]
When Allah saith: O Jesus, son of Mary! Remember My favour unto thee and unto thy mother; how I strengthened thee with the holy Spirit, so that thou spakest unto mankind in the cradle as in maturity; and how I taught thee the Scripture and Wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel; and how thou didst shape of clay as it were the likeness of a bird by My permission, and didst blow upon it and it was a bird by My permission, and thou didst heal him who was born blind and the leper by My permission; and how thou didst raise the dead by My permission; and how I restrained the Children of Israel from (harming) thee when thou camest unto them with clear proofs, and those of them who disbelieved exclaimed: This is naught else than mere magic;
[5:111]
And when I inspired the disciples, (saying): Believe in Me and in My messenger, they said: We believe. Bear witness that we have surrendered (unto Thee) "we are muslims".
[5:112]
When the disciples said: O Jesus, son of Mary! Is thy Lord able to send down for us a table spread with food from heaven ? He said: Observe your duty to Allah, if ye are true believers.
[5:113]
(They said:) We wish to eat thereof, that we may satisfy our hearts and know that thou hast spoken truth to us, and that thereof we may be witnesses.
[5:114]
Jesus, son of Mary, said: O Allah, Lord of us! Send down for us a table spread with food from heaven, that it may be a feast for us, for the first of us and for the last of us, and a sign from Thee. Give us sustenance, for Thou art the Best of Sustainers.
[5:115]
Allah said: Lo! I send it down for you. And whoso disbelieveth of you afterward, him surely will I punish with a punishment wherewith I have not punished any of (My) creatures.
[5:116]
And when Allah saith: O Jesus, son of Mary!
[5:117]
I spake unto them only that which Thou commandedst me, (saying): Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. I was a witness of them while I dwelt among them, and when Thou tookest me Thou wast the Watcher over them. Thou art Witness over all things.
[5:118]
If Thou punish them, lo! they are Thy slaves, and if Thou forgive them (lo! they are Thy slaves). Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Mighty, the Wise.
[5:119]
Allah saith: This is a day in which their truthfulness profiteth the truthful, for theirs are Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they are secure for ever, Allah taking pleasure in them and they in Him. That is the great triumph.
[5:120]
Unto Allah belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is therein, and He is Able to do all things.
