In the vid Bas talks about New York being both a city and state, it's even more complicated then that.... New York is the five borough and each borough is a county. BUT only two counties have the same name as the borough. Brooklyn is a borough in new York, a city in new York state but is also kings county!!! I used Bas's instructions but made an additional column for borough and defined it as a "place". Combing the columns as "address", "county", "borough", "city", "state" got the job done
Nice video! My doubt is: in my Power BI desktop the locations are right but when i share it online this problem happens.... how can i fix this if my document in desktop visualization is perfect but online goes bad?
That's great. Is there a way to use different shapes instead of bubbles over maps. Please suggest if you have any workaround to show like balloon shape instead of a bubble for each country
thanks.. for this video.. i solved one my problem for my first Fiverr Client.. and i thank you too, i have successfully done that clients requirements.
Note: Lat and long data need to be in World Geodetic System (WGS) coordinate system. If the data is in a projected coordinate system, it will show up in the wrong place. There are many free tools and software to convert between coordinate systems (e.g. QGIS).
Any examples? I have only coordinates from Google Maps, and it is very off in ArcGIS map visual, and does not work at all for me in the others. Need to convert it somehow I guess..
Hmm for me it still shows e.g. Manchester somewhere in Jamaika instead of England. I used first continent then country then state for the graphic and made it a drill down like you explained. Any idea what the reason might be?
Thanks!! I realized running dashboard in a Windows machine city name is enough for the visuals. However in IOS you have to append Country too otherwise dashboard will be with no locations.
Thanks, your video helped me out! Turned out I had given the country column accidently the category "county" instead of " countRy"... And suddenly the maps were completely messed up.
The issue is that when we add the coordination to enhance the data when the latitude and longitude are blank there will not be any bubble in the map and it Will not try to resolve it using only the address ( knowing that the address itself is enough in this case)
Hi, Is there any solution to define the MENA region which combines of Qatar,UAE,SAudi Arabia,Israel etc and when i select Region as MENA the corresponding map is filled with color defined for MENA.? I have 7 regions which includes africa, south america,,north america ,mena etc. Only MENA region isnt recongnised in the map whereas all others are higlighted .Could you help on this? I am defined data based on regions which has multiple territories.
Nice video. Have you figured out a way to not display latitude and longitude numbers in the pop up box when the cursor hovers over a location bubble? Even if you remove from tool tips, it is still there. Thanks.
Hey Bas, thank you for your awesome tutorial. It helped me a lot. I need some help for a particular task. Can you please make a tutorial on how to show dot density in bing/google map? For example if New York has 50 shops, I want to show 50 points/dots in New York in map. Can you help me do this? Looking forward to your reply.
Steve, you've clearly got too much time on your hands if you are wasting time on insulting others and their background music. He is simply trying to help people so if this isn't useful to you, then move on and keep your negativity to yourself. Appreciated!

@HowtoPowerBI: Hi. Thanks for the video. You're pbi file is not available anymore. Could you publish it again?

This was a great video! I was stuck and could not figure out how to show that sales in the state of Arkansas (AR) were not actually in Argentina!

Hi Ayman, thx for pointing that out! Do you maybe know some common example cases where projected coordinate system is used?
Any examples? I have only coordinates from Google Maps, and it is very off in ArcGIS map visual, and does not work at all for me in the others. Need to convert it somehow I guess..

Thank you! adding country above city resolved the issue

Great tips, thanks Bas. Nowadays we can create a hierarchy for the location and plot that 🙂

no 🙁, you would need to use the custom tooltip if you don't wanna show the lat and lon
Great. Thank you for your clear explanations.

Did you find the answer?
Would be useful to create a hierarchy for country - state - city data ?
Hello sir in my desktop I can't see map visual it's blank ... what to do please answer
Hi. Is there any option to disable relative sizing of bubbles while using slicers?
That's why I ended up in Salvador in my last trip to Germany! rs
You are brilliant! thanks
haha Augusto, that's a different level, man... hope it doesn't happen too often ;)
Thank you, really helpful😁
😊 glad to hear that it helped a bit!
If you were mapping assets rather then sales, how could you map multiple assets at a single address without the bubbles overlapping?
How use other marks instead of circles, like pin points on Google map?
You solved my problem! Thank you!
Just saved me :) - awesome and helpful video
Great to hear!
