Being a Californian, I find the comments here more entertaining than the video! [:-)] I've always been a fanatic about British culture. Great TV shows, great movies & the best music. I mean it.

"How dare you accuse the BBC of being Ratings Conscious!" "Ratings Conscious?" "Transmitting bland garbage, M'Lud".

The great irony is that the very end of the broadcast, which was interesting, but as usual, the BBC being pompously self-referential - was that the announcer said 'we are back on track now', as she announced the latest piece of biased wallpaper from the Blair Broadcasting Corporation. There was great television in the 1960's, far more than there is now, and even with only three channels.

Strangely cropped pictures. Probably originally widescreen.
Generally a fair look back at the 60s, but needed some fact checking. "Armchair Theatre" was not produced by ATV (it came from ABC). And strange to see 1930s cameras in what are supposed to be 1960s TV studios. Sloppiness undercuts the otherwise interesting analysis..

"while some see the '60s as the time when the good programmes stopped..." 1:10:28 lol, who? TV sucked until at least the '80s

Rubbish. TV was great until the likes of 'Little Britain', 'Mighty Boosh' and 'League Of Gentlemen' came along and brought racism into millions of homes.
