I think Emily had the most emotional reaction I've seen yet. So sweet. I think it looks great, trying to retain the charm of the older film. It'll be hard to compare, so it'll just be better to view this as its own entity.
I honestly think this is one of my favorite reactions to this trailer. I was so emotional watching it. It truly represented Disney magic. Very nostalgic.
Oh lord, I'm not even a fan of Poppins but Emily is almost getting me in tears with her with that excitement! God I love it when we get to see these trailers with people who care so much about these things!
Julie Andrews, in all her ever abounding grace and class has announced she will not be making a cameo in this film, as she does not want to take away from Emily Blunt's outing as Mary Poppins. She fears it'll be too distracting
Angela Lansbury will be the Balloon Lady, Meryl Streep is Mary's cousin Topsy. And Julie Andrews stated in interviews when the movie was first discussed that she would NOT make an appearance in it because she thinks it should be Emily Blunt's movie, and said she does a wonderful job.
I was just so excited and just grinning from ear to ear when I saw this trailer but watching it now with emily I am actually crying 😭 What are you doing to me Emily?! As always, great reaction you guys 😍
i have not. stopped. crying. ... okay i have stopped, that's kinda hyberbole, but oh lord, when I saw it Monday, all my tears and all my feelings pushed out of my eyes.
Have you guys not heard the popular news story that Julie Andrews refused to do a cameo in this film because she didn't want to steal attention away from Emily Blunt?
As to the part that felt Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Beatiful Briny Sea from that movie was actually written for Mary Poppins, it just got shelved because the scene was cut and never filmed. The Sherman Brothers actually wrote a lot of songs for Poppins that never got used because the scenes they intended never made it past story board. So it looks like they may be using ideas that never got used for the original film, which I am totally cool with.
The fact that it isn't going to be a *remake* like Jungle Book or Beauty and the Beast, but an actual *sequel* gives me hope for this movie. Also Emily crying nearly had me going too, damn it.
Heads up, Disney has been workshopping a BEDKNOBS AND BROOMSTICKS stage musical for the past few years. It’s first interaction will be taking place this coming spring/summer (2019) in Chicago at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.
Julie Andrews has already said that she will not be making a cameo in this movie; because she does not want to overshadow Emily Blunt's performance. She believes if she were to cameo everyone would be focused on when she will appear and not on the movie. Disappointing but very classy move.
You guys may have missed the robin's egg in Mary Poppins hat (in the trailer) as the callback to the bird Mary originally sang to. I'm hoping for a Julie Andrews cameo since that Angela Lansbury cameo was a total surprise in this trailer

Sorry but this gave me more chills than Captain Marvel trailer :D And the thing is I didn't fckin expect that :D
I had no intentions on seeing this film, but damn if this trailer didn't hook me! Black Panther and Poppins are going to duke it out for Best Costume Design this awards season....
I'm excited to see this film not because it's Mary Poppins, but because it's the first time since "Princess & The Frog" they're using 2D hand drawn animation in a film.
The main story is going to be Michael and his kids getting over his wife's death so maybe a little Nanny McFee meets Christopher Robin but I feel like Jane might also have problems or hangups that she needs to overcome. Maybe she had commitment issues or is focused on antiwar protest and hasn't grown up yet. I'm really eager for this film
This is a brilliant and fantastic new trailer for Mary Poppins Returns and I like it and love it and I am really looking forward to seeing it at the Cinema in December for Christmas
I'm Mary Poppins Y'all. Nice to see it as a continuation from the first film this time with Michael Banks being the center of the story. I wonder if Richard Van Dyke's character will play Lin Manuel Miranda's dad in this film? The photo realistic effects look really great in this trailer. They still need to release a trailer for the live Action The Lion King film.
The suggestion of a Julie Andrews cameo as the bird lady is brilliant. But she is writing successful children's books, and said she chose not to participate in this film. Still, oh my. . .your idea is perfect!
Unless they are purposefully trying to mislead us, I really doubt that Julie Andrews will have a cameo in this film. Rob Marshall has said that they reached out to Julie and she respectfully declined as she didn't want to take the spotlight away from Emily Blunt ... and you know that's exactly what would happen if she did have a cameo in the film ... as soon as she appeared on screen people would be "Ohhhing" and "Ahhhing" and saying "there's the REAL Mary Poppins. I know everybody is hoping she will appear in the film but I totally respect her decision to not, if that is the case.
I... I admit, I was entirely ambivalent towards the movie. Like Adam said, I think they're trying to catch lightning in a bottle twice. That said, I saw a few things that made me smile, and Dick Van Dyke? At his age? Interesting and I hope he can keep up.

Julie Andrews refused a cameo. She said "It's Blunt's time now".

I think that's so commendable of Julie , such a class act! I'm so selfish tho, I wanted to see her in it somehow lol.
Anyone watching this after the movie?
Me

MargeM304 Julie Andrews is so incredibly gracious and it’s so cool that she lets Emily have her time to shine!!
Hand drawn animation? I am beyond sold.
I can't wait to see it. Emily Blunt is worth the price of admission, she is a fabulous actress!!!
I was just so excited and just grinning from ear to ear when I saw this trailer but watching it now with emily I am actually crying 😭 What are you doing to me Emily?! As always, great reaction you guys 😍

Such a Class Lady......
We don't have artists like her anymore.......a true Lady......a true Queen!
More Emily in the future! Her reaction and review is so adorably insightful.

Emily is just too precious... :D
The 2D animated bits are the best part of the trailer, especially having seen it at D23 in Anaheim last July.
Such delight from the two of you!!! I appreciate this visual.

Karen Dotrice the original Jane also makes a cameo appearance.

Julie Andrews said she will NOT be doing a cameo. Sorry to say.
oh and the accent isn't a stretch for her, Emily is British after all, hope you realised that

Love the new person Emily. Love Hyper RPG

You mentioned, "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" and yet, I was surprised that you didn't mention the appearance of the great, Angela Lansbury in this film.
Their eyes said everything when the the great Angela Landsbury appeared. I had the same reaction of oh wow!!
I haven't watched a MPR reaction vid where someone hasn't cried.

Nice work you two...
Van Dyke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Classic movie techniques = total nostalgia rush
Those were not chimney sweeps. Jack and his mates in this film are lamplighters.
I need Disney to 🛑 stop😭😭😭😭😭 the feels are killing me
I was more excited that Ben Wishaw and Emily Mortimer is in this. Meryl Streep plays Topsy who was in the books.
I appreciate the Johnny Tsunami name drop.
Don’t forget The Greatest Showman as far as more recent movie musicals go!
AH yes
Love Hyper Heroes

This movie's success or otherwise may well depend on how good the songs are. It will be almost impossible to match the original!!
Isn’t Emily blunt doing Jungle Cruise as well
Exactly. But it wont premiere until 2020
*Im mary poppins yall!*
No shoutout to Dame Angela Lansbury in the trailer as well? She's such a legend.
The suggestion of a Julie Andrews cameo as the bird lady is brilliant. But she is writing successful children's books, and said she chose not to participate in this film. Still, oh my. . .your idea is perfect!
Nice pink rinse lol🤣🤣

She might do a voice. Julie Andrews did do the voice of the umbrella as well in the original.
da96103 no she didn’t that was David Tomlinson who voiced the talking umberella , she provided the whistle for the bird during a spoon full of sugar
It would have been more epic to see her reaction the first time she seen it
I... I admit, I was entirely ambivalent towards the movie. Like Adam said, I think they're trying to catch lightning in a bottle twice. That said, I saw a few things that made me smile, and Dick Van Dyke? At his age? Interesting and I hope he can keep up.
NO bird and no Julie caméo... that's what I say!! No bird woman...I'm already crying for the score and the sets...
Member Mary Poppins?
Am I too early to demand for a Captain Marvel reaction?
I thought the grumpy old banker died in the first movie?...
He did but this is his son Mr dawes Jr
Wait, what were you doing in the beginning? You’re giggly and I see a scented candle on the top right... are you toking up?
haha xD
...hyper did a marry poppins trailer reaction before captain marvel???
They filmed this while waiting for Hector and Agustin to finish work for the day
Soooo... Captain Marvel reaction soon?
Drop the Captain Marvel reaction !!!!
First one here !!
They are working on it. Geez.
There’s a trailer for Captain Marvel Mary Poppins returns Far more important
re: Julie Andrews cameo - timelords. it's possible
I love Emily blunt, but her role in sicario sucked. Not her acting, but her role.
Have you seen 'A Quiet Place'? She's superb in that!
Pass on it. No matter how they try its not the same.. So not for me
doesnt look interesting
