I genuinely believe the Tony B situation was the beginning of the end for Tony’s reign. While Tony had always dealt with rivals and upstarts, this was the incident where the respect of his men plummeted.
During Jackie’s day, Tony’s cavalier attitude was seen as an asset to the family since most of their issues were internal. But seeing how he’s handling this external threat has enlightened everyone to Tony’s insecurities and weaknesses.

I agree, he did ruin everything for NJ, leading to practically everybody getting killed, but if he did suceed in killing Phil and getting away w/out being seen or suspected, he would have done the gang a favor in the long run, even if it would still mean he had to get whacked.
Tony's other mistake was agreeing to Uncle Philly's suggestion to cut Johnny out of the vitamin load. It gave Phil outside validation as the new official boss, a guy a season ago Tony had chased down on a road rage impulse for owed money as opposed to Johnny with whom he had a personal connection & touch with.

He was a really underrated character and it would have been really interesting to see Tony Darrow be utilized more. I got the impression Silvio felt a bit disgusted that Chrissy couldn't handle his own Aidriana problem and not only put them all at risk, but also needed Tony to send Silvio to clean up the mess.
He literally killed her on the plot of land where Carm's spec house was built although we never get confirmation it's heavily implied.
No. Point was that they didn't want to take any risk of Chwistofer losing his nerve and going with her into witsec. They also needed him away with an airtight alibi. Silvio knew it was a very delicate matter that had to be taken care of carefully. He was pretty much the only one who could do it.

Hats off to Steve Van Zandt for acting his butt off in this scene. In the first seasons he was comical but not necessarily winning awards for his acting skills. But you can tell how far he came when he had a whole conversation with Ben and Chris through eyebrows and head tilts. Top notch.

That's close to $2500 in today's money (this season happened almost twenty years ago). Also, when you lam it you stay low to the ground.
