I once followed a tripple bottom truck down that road you are traveling with a very high wind from the north. The tractor was on the right shoulder, the third trailer was in the left lane. He had to maintain about 70 mph to keep from tipping over. He pulled off the highway when he found a wind break at a rest area west of Bismark. I have driven highway 52 a number of times.
The last run I made was on that stretch of highway. I was pulling an empty dry van. The wind was so strong that it was blowing me off the road a 25 mph. Luckily I found a rest area where I was able to stop until the wind dropped. I had been running cross country for a little over 13 years, and had never seen it quite that bad. Your video sure brought bunch of memories. Be safe my friend.
Yeapers spent several years up there and that wind can get down to -70 F with winds at 50+ mph!! Static Temps will dip down to -40 F in January and February
I had to stop there for an hour because the fuel restriction started showing 15 on the gauge (max is 20!), and my primary fuel filter/water separator was clogged because of strong cross wind...
US 52 truck route in North Dakota heading to Minot is a 2 lane highway and is quite dangerous in winter conditions....trucks pass you all the time on this highway and puts other drivers in a very stressful situation....i travel this route all the time....be careful my friend.....Your neighbor from Brantford Ontario
I'm like 20min from Tower City, the truck stop there is really nice since they redid it. Much nicer than Casselton. Didn't know you were passing through or I would've met you!
I used to drive a great deal for my job. So many times I had to get home or be somewhere and there was no alternative but to drive. A few times I was caught on the road when snow , ice and wind closed the roads. What can you do. but continue on until you fine a safe place to stop. Spent a few cold cold hungry nights in my car. No hotels, rest areas etc You are a safe intelligent driver. Stay safe.
Great video Serguei. We have a cold snap here in Ireland too, black ice, slippery roads and some snow, it's like the middle of February 😂. That other genius that came beside you probably just wants to be in your video, stay safe Serguei📽
I had this same problem in my truck with charging off the USB you wanna use your cigaret lighter ConnectionI think it has to do with a trickle charge not good for GPS or tablet
The roadway for the most part is clear on the drive part of the roadway. Fifty mph is a good speed for the condition as it currently is. The wind always blows when I have drove thru North Dakota. Safety first.
I understand how you feel about the other drivers . there is no need to drive the way they do .. I cant count the times the drivers that pasted me and 25 miles down the road they are upside down .. Just drive at a speed you feel safe at and the hell with them .. I wish you a safe ride .. Thanks for the update ..
The xpo, fed x small short trailers the drivers in my opinion ( some drivers) often don't use good judgement. The dry van that passed just before the end of the video another driver that wasn't using good driving skills. Definitely too fast for conditions and tailgating. Not good!!
Why don't you run up to bismarck and go down 83 to minot it's a four lane highway i used to go that way all the time it's faster than running down to carrington because it's a straight shot i run that road for 20 years
Let me guess -- you were a company driver and paid by the hour? Fargo, ND to Minot, ND via I-94 and US-52: 268 miles. Fargo, ND to Minot, ND via I-94 and US-83: 302 miles. Difference: 34 miles.
@@HHTV60 Nope my friend that was not a company driver my first trip to the us questa saint louis i was 18 and my own truck I was a lease operator an arnold brothers transport out of winnipeg they didn't treat me like a family I was supposed to take the load to winnipeg and drop it but it paid good so i permanent my way all the way to saint louis unloaded phone this batch and they were so mad at me bir taking that load Then on my way back at the port of entry of south dakota i got stopped at scale they told me i wasn't old enough to drive in the us explain to them i own the track they let me go i got to winnipeg and that time i was only played it for three prairie provinces alberta Saskatchewan & manitoba I told me if i stayed in canada i could get the rest of my plates for canada But another good load came up and i did it again I showed up in dundas dispatch was wild My god another load . Hey Serguei you know its Illegal to pay Drivers in Europe by the Mile. Its either an hourly rate or some companies pay a salary. They made this law to prevent drives having to chase the miles to make a Buck.
A woman called me over a year ago and wanted me to drive for Swift. I told her I wouldn't drive an underpowered speed limited 60 mph piece of danger. 62, she corrected me. I told her those things caused traffic jams for mainly trucks, were dangerous because of it. She said it was because of insurance and I said too bad but you want to save too much fuel plus it would cost me $80 a day since they pay by the mile. A few months later I came up on one doing 70. Guess they got desperate enough to turn them up. I wouldn't be caught dead driving one. They're for truck driving school graduates who don't know any better. I was making more heavy hauling daytime only sleeping every night at the house.
These OTR companies claim to have a culture of so-called safe operations. Then they pay the drivers in a manner that is counter productive to safety. My company pays by the hour, so I am never penalized for driving safe for the conditions or following the speed limit.
My friend just be thankfull your not hauling 1 of those boxes, your fuel then would be even worse , and you getting blown all over..tiz a scarey thing , Ive been there, done that, it put the fear of god in to me every time i felt to blow side on..Take care...
As a professional, when you let that three trailer truck pass you and then you put your foot down and came back up on his inside and said about his driving, yours was not much better sorry. Drive safe.
I think Sergei said it was a small grade and the passing truck couldnt maintain its speed to pass, Sergei maintained his speed and displayed proper lane management. Hammerdown trucking gets you nowhere fast.
Thanks Col. for the ride. Glad that you are a safe driver and set a good example. Take care.
I'm glad to see Serguei has COMMON SENSE!! Great video. I live and drive all my life in ND. Take Care.

Good thing you are not pulling an empty dry van...nothing in the flat lands to break the wind! Be safe Captain Serguei!!!
Having a cabover was never great but in the extreme cold you didnt mind the heat off the dog house lol
Burr makes me cold just watching that wind and snow blowing lol!! Love your vids from one trucker to another!! Drive safe my friend!!
My wife works for fedex freight. They load their doubles to about 22000 lbs each as often as they can, but the average is closer to 17500 each.
Yeapers spent several years up there and that wind can get down to -70 F with winds at 50+ mph!! Static Temps will dip down to -40 F in January and February
I got out of Fargo Wednesday morning just before that weather hit. Stopped in Rochester for my reset and a backhaul.
Always enjoy your videos
I saw you this morning when I woke up in Harvey, North Dakota. You were parked in the same lot as me, the wind was shaking my truck all night
I had to stop there for an hour because the fuel restriction started showing 15 on the gauge (max is 20!), and my primary fuel filter/water separator was clogged because of strong cross wind...
Loved the video and your commentary. Be safe
Have you ever checked your digital dash readout options? You should be able to switch to Fahrenheit & gallons.
I seen you in Minot today! Just missed ya pulling away from the Fuel Island at Schatz Crossroads.
SW Minnesota had -45 wind chill last night (2/13/2020). This morning when I got up at 7:30 AM it was -18.8 on our temp guage !
Good driving Serguei !
It’s nice and clear west of Bismarck

Serguei, there's a great weather app you should install so you'll alway's know what's coming. Check it out. NOAA Hi-Def Radar Pro. It's the best.
Job well-done Colonel.
I’ve come across 94 and 52 in blowing snow many times Slow and easy is the best
Those type conditions are when you really appreciate lift axles.
Bobcats are made in Fargo qinner
Your working for your money in that type of weather , everything is cold , freezing fuel , cold floors been there done that . Thanks for the memory
I can tell the engine is pulling hard.
Wyoming has snow fences

👍
Early in the video you passed 2 trucks pulled over by the side of the road with triple trailers.
A woman called me over a year ago and wanted me to drive for Swift. I told her I wouldn't drive an underpowered speed limited 60 mph piece of danger.
62, she corrected me. I told her those things caused traffic jams for mainly trucks, were dangerous because of it.

Fargo, ND is the windest place around !!!!!!!!
There is an app called NDRoads on apple. It’s free. It’s great. It shows clear roads from Jamestown to almost Portal.
They are probably empty
They are trying to get them to a location for reload
Going in to the wind like Tatanka face the wind head on live longer ! Be brave
i'd be taking the far southern route. LOL
Sad but very true they feel they dont get paid to be safety driver. They want to do 600 miles a day . I see it myself .
How dare you leave us on a cliff hanger at the end there comrade commisar

The guys with 3 trailers drive hella fast in Oregon
As a professional, when you let that three trailer truck pass you and then you put your foot down and came back up on his inside
and said about his driving, yours was not much better sorry. Drive safe.
I was on cruise control, set to 50 mph. I mentioned this in the video. I didn't touch the throttle. You missed the point.
I think Sergei said it was a small grade and the passing truck couldnt maintain its speed to pass, Sergei maintained his speed and displayed proper lane management. Hammerdown trucking gets you nowhere fast.
This is why I don't live there
