I'm aware that the comment section drama is about wether people should or should not be recommending songs (for some reason?) but if you're after pure 80s then my picks would be: New Order - Blue Monday, Self Control - Laura Branigan, Don't go - Yazoo, Cruel Summer - Bananarama, Into the Groove - Madonna, The Reflex - Duran Duran, Kids in America - Kim Wilde, Space-Age Love Song - A Flock Of Seagulls and Don't You Want Me Baby - The Human League. Hopefully you enjoy my starter pack (presuming you haven't heard all these already). The great thing about 80s music is there's always another bop you haven't discovered yet. =D
It can be argued that the 80's was probably the very best in pop music and that This Song is one of the very best of that decade. Rockwell's delivery is top notch! M.J.'s (hook line) performance is ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!. The beat never lets you go. And the two synthesizer counter-melodies are so damn catchy as to be illegal. The rhythm is way too catchy, eccentric and well made. You’ll find it unbelievable that it was produced in 1984.

There's nothing to beat the sounds of the 80s
Yes it does stuff
1000% correct. I was born in 1977, for whatever reason I love music from 70/80s even some from 50s & 60s. I guess I'm an old soul.

So Michael actually wrote it all too?
Yeah, it was a big theory at the time that the chorus was actually Michael singing, and it wasn’t until many years later, Rockwell confirmed it is indeed Michael. He didn’t want to be credited because he didn’t want to take the attention away from Rockwell who he was childhood friends with
