Just a heads up. With these videos, I would greatly appreciate some graphics/pictures of the games. It makes it more engaging and helps me get a better feel for the game if I've never played it.
So much love and appreciation that you guys keep giving great content even if the idea was kinda absurd. Keep up the great work, you are practically family- From near the Adirondacks Upstate NY.
Hahahaaha Zee's facial expression were priceless. It never seemed like Zee liked the game that much in the live plays, but he does come up with fun stories for the shows.
This was a great year! I've been a gamer for less than two years but three of my favorites came out in 2007: Race for the Galaxy, Agricola and Galaxy Trucker!
Zee, you are correct: Thebes (more specifically, its progenitor Jenseits von Theben) was the first major publication to introduce the "time track" as a game mechanism.
I only have 7, there are several games form 2007 I have not played yet and are on my "to play" list. 1. Talisman 4th edition Revised: I had been a fan of 2nd edition since 1986. A year or so earlier (2006?) Black Industries made 4th edition but dropped it and Fantasy Flight picked it up. 4th edition was closer to 2nd edition than 3rd edition was. And FFG changed 4th edition a bit more than Black Industries did, adding the fate mechanism allowing rerolling of dice (1 way of mitigating roll & move and other rolls) as well as other changes. My friends found this when one of them had been looking for Talisman on Ebay, as we had been playing 2nd edition for years. This was before I became a board game enthusiast and was ontop of such news. My 8th favorite game. 2. Colosseum: This was on my "to play" list based on Dice Tower videos, and played it at a convention a year ago and loved it. My 17th favorite game. 3. Cutthroat Caverns: I love dungeon crawls, and this is a great one. My 32nd favorite game. 4. Jamaica: Another find because of the Dice Tower. Great success with my family. And my copy has bling. Looking forward to the upcoming expansion. My 69th favorite game. 5. Age of Empires III: The Age of Discovery: Played it once and thought it pretty good. Not on my top 100. 6. Kingsburg: an okay to almost good game, was dissapointed thought I would like it more. I liked Alien Frontiers much more. Not on my top 100. 7. Patrician: a simply okay game. Not on my top 100.
Good lists, my favorites that aren't mentioned are Oregon, Parade, Conquest of Paradise from GMT, and Red Dragon Inn. Also, this video was made before the reprint and Birmingham made Brass really hot but it's worth mentioning that the original Brass came out in 07, talk about a sleeper hit right?
from the 344 full games i own only 6 are from 2007. kingsburg, galaxy trucker, jamaica, notre dame, utopia and catan the dice game (hehe) i have owned in the year of the dragon but have sold it.
I laughed when Tom joked about being shown a 10 year old game like it's to old. Meanwhile I'm here not having gotten to play Carcassonne or Jamaica yet.
"In The Year of the Dragon" isn't very heavy at all. Super simple and straight forward. There is some heaviness in planning ahead and going for highest VP, but just surviving is pretty easy if you don't push your luck too much.
Everyday I pray for reprint of expansion, since it is very hard to get in reasonable price and It is one of my all time favourites. Sadly chances are very little. It's very well balanced game in weight - not too heavy, not to light - just perfect :)
I'm with ya Zee! Felix: The Cat in the Sack is a stand-out filler game. One of my favorite games with bidding. :-) Oh... and I also am not a giant fan of Colosseum. Not a bad game, just nothing I am ever itching to play... or own.
I still have that RFTG program (made by Keldon Jones). Never win against it :D I'm not sure how we (me and a few coworkers) made through the rules the first time. We were still new to board/card games at that point. One of us never understood or grasped the game, but the other 3 loved it (myself included) :)
So wait, guys. Do you actually remember rules to all of these games? I've got about 10 semi-heavy games, but I always check the rulebook before\while playing :
The Family Showdown I agree strongly! Funny, I was just wondering today, after seeing on your channel that you got Caylus, if you had and liked Empires III.
Agricola was my Dice Tower gateway game. After dumping that much money into a game with high production value that I was severely disappointed with. I asked the internets if there was anyone out there doing reviews of games to save me money in the future. Down with Agricola....Up with Dice Tower.
top 10 of games where/who you win the most of(and games you lose the most of and you still like!) a few of mine are I win the most of are coloretto card game, the game where you make the paintings, terra nova, power grid, machi koro and top 10 games where new people(that play it for the first time) also win the game my top 1 should be ticket to ride I explain this game I lot and played it more then 500 times and still see people win the game when they play it for the first time(are is it only by people I explain it to !)
My List: 10. The Darkness 9. Portal 8. Super Mario Galaxy 7. Metroid 3: Corruption 6. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune 5. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 4. BioShock 3. Mass Effect 2. Team Fortress 2 1. Halo 3
Just a heads up. With these videos, I would greatly appreciate some graphics/pictures of the games. It makes it more engaging and helps me get a better feel for the game if I've never played it.
"It would have been my number 12....thousand."
So much love and appreciation that you guys keep giving great content even if the idea was kinda absurd. Keep up the great work, you are practically family- From near the Adirondacks Upstate NY.
ahhhhhhhhh I love these top 10's so much! always excited to see another enter my sub box

I got your back Zee! corridor shooter is a thing
I'm excited for your "Top 10 games from 2007" in a few months! :)
Zee making fun of Collesseum while Sam explained it was one of the funniest things ever
We enjoy Thebes. My kids love the feeling of reaching in bag and pulling out the items. They love it when mom or dad pull out a bunch of dirt.
Okay, Zee. Now you have to release your top 2007 games of all time!
He said Galaxy Trucker was his 12000th, so he has a lot to share :D
29:43 Around the World in 80 Days was 2004 so a few years before. Sadly the recent Iello release was not a reprint but a re-themed Hare and Tortoise.
Nice work on the intro! Very cool...

I love Jamaica.....and it always go down well with people that i teach the game (which takes about 5 mins)
Kingsburg is by far my number one game from 2007, but I also enjoy Zooloretto and Archeology.
Horus Heresy has that flowy timeish turn thing.
Oh man, there are so many Games i love to Play and at the Same Moment i hate to explain. And yes. Race For the Galaxy is one of them.
Awesome, as ever. Thanks.
Someone get Sam a tissue! heh ;-) I'm definitely with you about Duel in the Dark, Sam. That's a neat game that nobody seems to have heard of.
This is even more true today. I should try to find this game.
Keldon Race For the Galaxy AI isn't biased on the card draws btw. It has a learning AI if I recall?
We have the release problem the other way around now. Some games (Specter Ops, Codex, etc.) come out in USA and never go to Germany. :(
from the 344 full games i own only 6 are from 2007. kingsburg, galaxy trucker, jamaica, notre dame, utopia and catan the dice game (hehe) i have owned in the year of the dragon but have sold it.
Toys R Us seems AWESOME in Korea!!
I just enjoyed listening to sam snort mucus up his nasal passage the whole video
I laughed when Tom joked about being shown a 10 year old game like it's to old.
Meanwhile I'm here not having gotten to play Carcassonne or Jamaica yet.
1) Galaxy Trucker, 2) Colosseum, 3) Tannhäuser
"In The Year of the Dragon" isn't very heavy at all. Super simple and straight forward. There is some heaviness in planning ahead and going for highest VP, but just surviving is pretty easy if you don't push your luck too much.
please tell me you've played Tribune with the expansion. it fixes some of the scoring problems. tribune is underrated.
Everyday I pray for reprint of expansion, since it is very hard to get in reasonable price and It is one of my all time favourites. Sadly chances are very little. It's very well balanced game in weight - not too heavy, not to light - just perfect :)
You never know, they just reprinted Kingsburg with the expansion. I'd buy a reprint I just ask that they make the cards standard size.
Watch Zee during Sam's No 2. Hilarious.
Traded Dead of Winter for the original Age of Empires III, I was not disappointed 😄
25:38 Sam, I think the word you're searching for is 'transgressions'.
This would have been great in 2006!
Time flies... kind of a sleep year, wasn't it
I'm with ya Zee! Felix: The Cat in the Sack is a stand-out filler game. One of my favorite games with bidding. :-) Oh... and I also am not a giant fan of Colosseum. Not a bad game, just nothing I am ever itching to play... or own.
So, when is Zee doing a stand-up one-man show?
I still have that RFTG program (made by Keldon Jones). Never win against it :D I'm not sure how we (me and a few coworkers) made through the rules the first time. We were still new to board/card games at that point. One of us never understood or grasped the game, but the other 3 loved it (myself included) :)
This list is very similar to "Top 10 games that these 2 jokers should appreciate more" or something along those lines...
So wait, guys. Do you actually remember rules to all of these games?
I've got about 10 semi-heavy games, but I always check the rulebook before\while playing :
Konata-chan plays board games?
+James Cruz She's waiting for Cornetto card game..
+James Cruz, Yu-Gi-Oh, for example :3
Tom was just asked on his most recent Q&A how many games does he remember rules for. Check out that video for the answer.
I like to encourage people to watch the videos.
The only thing i can think about is "what did Zee do, shave? polish his head? not shave his head?"
randomfatguy666 probably a new razor, lol.
It must've been a good year, as I have 8 of the 23 games mentioned. (That said, I HAAATE my Galaxy Trucker game!)
You know, Sam always says he hates programming games but it feels like he just hates Roborally.
Is this Tom predicting Notre Dame burning down? 40:47
"You hosier!" lol
Age of Empires III...nothing else is close.
Good, but not that good. Sorry.
Oh yeah, AoEIII is the best.
The Family Showdown I agree strongly! Funny, I was just wondering today, after seeing on your channel that you got Caylus, if you had and liked Empires III.
Questionable graphic design is understating how I feel about the new look of Kingsburg.
Agricola was my Dice Tower gateway game. After dumping that much money into a game with high production value that I was severely disappointed with. I asked the internets if there was anyone out there doing reviews of games to save me money in the future. Down with Agricola....Up with Dice Tower.
