  • This video describes the installation procedure of Insulation Piercing Connectors (IPC) for AB Cables.
Axis manufactured ABC accessories are designed to provide higher safety, reliability, and flexibility with reduced installations, maintenance costs, lower power losses, and stability in the system. The insulation on cables is manufactured and designed as per NFC, IEC, BS EN, and IS standards to withstand extreme temperatures and intense exposure to sunlight and various weather conditions.
Aerial Bundled Cables are highly cost-effective as damages are easily detected and can be rectified quickly. Our Aerial Bundled Cables are also designed to prevent power losses and theft with a secure line and system.
Insulation Piercing Connectors are electrical components that are used to connect overhead low voltage mains to services or other mains. Insulation Piercing Connectors are use don all AB cables systems, messenger as well as self-supporting systems to take a tap connection.
Axis Insulation Piercing Connectors allows the connections to be completely sealed and prevent any elements like water from entering in and disturbing the entire connection and hence acting as a waterproof barrier.
Tools you require to install Insulation Piercing Connector to your Cables.
    1. Spanner
    2. Phase Separator
    Procedure -
    1. Identify the right cable from the bundle on which Insulation Piercing Connector has to be installed.
    2. Use the phase separator tool on that cable to make it distinct and visible from the other cables in the bundle.
    3. Insert the cable on the Main-Side of the Insulation Piercing Connector and screw down the cable with the help of a sheer nut in between the cavity of the main side.
    4. In a 3-phase cable connection 3 cable and 1 neutral is required to be tapped. In a single-phase setting 1 phase cable and 1 neutral are required to be tapped.
    5. Take one cable and insert it in the Tap-Side of the Insulation Piercing Connector and close the end cap to hold the cable.
    6. Use the spanner to tighten the sheer nut. Use the right spanner size for it to fit on the top small hex of the sheer nut.
    7. Keep tightening the sheer nut till it breaks and then remove the phase separator. Your Insulation Piercing Connector is now successfully connected
