- Macquarie Pass is a 8 kilometre long section of the Illawarra Highway passing through Macquarie Pass National Park. It links the Southern Highland town of Robertson to the coastal town of Albion Park, descending the Illawarra Escarpment via a very narrow bitumen roadway, which has several single lane sections, and for the most part is two lanes with double "no overtaking" lines.This section of roadway is very steep, and contains a large number of hairpin bends.
Unfortunately this video contains only about half the length of the pass as I ran into a whole heap of traffic. But the sections where I get some clear air were well worth it - awesome collection of twisties and I haven't seen a smoother road surface outside of a racetrack :)
Every car I have take here has cooked the brakes coming down :D
awesome road. i'm suprised it so smooth.
I see a few exotic car clubs take their rides down this road. Every time I'm in the area I take a detour through it, such an awesome drive :)
my mate took me here on a bike ride.. 1st big ride on my l's.. going down, it was interesting to say the least
used to love standing on the side of the right just out of the exit from Albion park, where talumbah is, and watching all types of cars go up there, just gotta pray you dont get unconfident drivers, because it turns a half hour of glorious sex driving, into one long miserable fuck over.
Ditto
I did the pass daily going to work 89-92
But on 2 wheels
@hopdashrun
Absolutely, especially considering how many semis and trucks come through here.
Sad to say how many lives this mountain has claimed!
