We'll be walking through a package store in this video. It was my first time in one for about twenty years, and it was fun seeing all the cool stuff! I hope you enjoy it. :)

For anyone watching of age, screwball peanut butter whiskey (1 shot) with 1 1/2-2 shots coffee liqueur in a small glass then fill with half and half is INSANELY good!!

Here in the UK we sell everything in our supermarkets but also do have special alcohol shops but they aren’t as cool as this with as much variety! I’m jealous! Xx
At first I thought abc store as in the tv network as we have abc stores in Au.
How interesting though! In Australia you generally have to go to a bottle shoo to get any alcohol, commonly called a bottle-o. Also, if you have your alcohol in a brown paper bag or something similar, you're probably trying to hide it from the police lol. Love learning the differences our countries have.

In Oregon we just call them “liquor stores”, I prefer ABC store though, it’s cuter :)

I had no idea that some states had laws like this. We have liquor in the CVS, in the Walmart, in the Aldi….it’s everywhere.
As a Finn, I have to appreciate the variety of the vodka shelves.
As a bourbon drinker, I was really excited to see the variety she would have there. One puny shelf with mainstream stuff, but walls and walls of vodka, lol.
I have that bottle of Chambord in my fridge right now. 😅

Omg I live in California and never knew there were restrictions like this in other states! I am so used to alcohol being sold in every convenience store, gas station and grocery market lol
Same in Chicago. It’s so weird. Imagine having to go through all that trouble just to grab a bottle of vodka.
Yeah, it's really annoying. At least the state I live in sells beer and wine in grocery stores, but one of the states I go to on vacation doesn't even allow that. You should look up liquor laws by state - it's pretty interesting!
I live in Arkansas, and we have wet and dry counties. I live in a dry county so you can’t buy alcohol at all except for at a restaurant with a liquor license.
Same here in Wisconsin. When we went Pennsylvania, my parents tried to get a couple of 6 packs of beer and they were surprised they couldn't get it from Sheetz, and had to go to a bar to buy them.
I’m in jersey and unless you have a special license grocery stores can’t sell any alcohol here! we have special liquor stores/marts that sell wine spirits and beer.

I guess when your store is limited in what it sells, you get every variety and flavor.
Not only are your videos relaxing, but it's also so interesting to see how things are in another part of the world. It never occurred to me that in some places you wouldn't be able to buy all types of alcohol in a normal shop! Anyway, can't wait to fall asleep to this later :)
i think this is just the south, in the midwest you can get alcohol in just about every grocery store
@@Grodakatt in Louisiana you can get alcohol at gas stations, grocery stores, etc. Never heard of an ABC store before 🤷🏽♀️
It’s funny how we all have different names for alcohol shops! In Australia we tend not to have flavoured spirits. We can’t get alcohol in our grocery shops instead we have to go to the bottle-o or grog shop 😂 which are everywhere generally you would have a corner shop with a grog shop within your suburb. Some of ours are even drive thru. Alcohol is a big part of our culture though, you are legally able to drink at 18 buuut very common for kids to start drinking small amounts at 14/15 😌 oh and moonshine is totally illegal 😂 in some places like the Northern Territory which is where I’m from, their are police at front who will actually scan your license before heading in especially in your more rural areas

In Finland we have "Alko". I guess its come from alcohol word.
I live in Georgia a few hours south from where Mary is at, and we have Bottle Shops with drive thrus as well. And Moonshine is illegal here too, but the Moonshine you will find in shops like this are only 40% (80 proof). The good stuff your buddy makes in the woods behind his house that isn’t taxed by the government, now that’s illegal haha. And if it’s good is generally 85% (170 proof)

In my country ABC stores are just generic small grocery stores that sells alcohol and basic foods so it basically a completely different thing than in the U.S.😊

I lived in Toronto for 25 years. In Vancouver now. I'm amazed at how many different flavoured liquors they have. Twice as many as us, for sure.
We're in the uk, honestly I couldn't believe how expensive the store was she was in'! Our spirits must be so cheap Compared to over seas. Our spirits are purchased in a normal supermarket with your groceries. Wonder if it's a premium because it can only be purchased in ABC stores?
Alcohol is much cheaper in the UK. Those prices were comparable to California prices, which are usually higher than NC in general, so probably higher taxes at ABC. Every state has different liquor laws and taxation.

PA is the same way, you want booze you have to go to a "state store". Some grocery and convenience store's can sell beer and wine, but you have to go to a state store for the rest of it. I don't drink, but I love to see all the different types of bottles and colors of packaging.

Yeah I was really surprised when I moved to CA and they were just selling liquor in the grocery stores! Liquor stores were definitely a thing in Florida too!

We do have “liquor shops”, but we call them party stores. They are convenient stores that sell liquor too.
In Norway we have a store dedicated to liquor as well its called "vinmonopolet" the only things that grocery store are allowed to sell is beer and seltzsers I think I am not sure because I do not drink alcohol. I did not know there was something similar in some states in the US. ( sorry for any spelling mistakes I have dyslexia and English is not my first language)
I can remember years ago my friends and I sitting around the kitchen, chatting after supper. Passing around the bottle of Fireball whiskey. Wonderful stuff. Puts hair on a girl's chest!
in maryland you can’t even buy any kind of alcohol in grocery stores. you have to go to an actually liquor store. some go by “Wine & Spirits” but i’ve never seen an abc store

In Ireland nearly every grocery store has a spirits and liquor Isle, and even shops that don't have them have off-licences attached to them. We also don't need to cover/hide our alcohol and can drink in public.
We also have our own kind of moonshine called poitin (pronounced pucheen)
I live in the US too and I can't imagine the strict laws she has. We sell alcohol anywhere and everywhere and it doesn't have to be concealed at all. 😂
In Poland we have every type of alcohol in most grocery stores but we can't drink in public (only restaurants etc). Definitely not on the street 😳

You need to do more ABC store ASMR, as a huge fan of Scotch and Whiskey, I'd love to try some NC Whiskey. You're liquor prices are so cheap. In Canada ( And I live in the least expensive part of Canada to live in) 26oz of smirnoff is 33 dollars. 60 oz is about 50.

I just got a new job and a lot of my remote coworkers are in North Carolina. like half of them have accents that sound like Mary, and half of them have hardly any accent. But they're all from NC originally... why is that?
North Carolinian here. I know my accent tends to change depending on who I am talking to. We also have a lot of transplants here. For example, I was born here in NC, but my parents are from the midwest. Someone like Mary has parents that are born and raised in NC. Also, accents vary depending on where in NC. Eastern NC, western and central NC all have different variations of accents.

The luxardo is a maraschino cherry liqueur- soo good. They also make those really fancy, dark and delicious maraschino cherries that go in manhattans.
