    Dear Craig,
we are facing a problem in reassembe our electric harken 60, the case is that
we had it out to rebuild the electric motor and when we tryed to put everything
back it does not engage with the winch!! is there anything else except the two
pieces of the shaft? because it looks like there is something missing from the
shaft to be long enough to engage with the winch.
Also Is there any possibility that the shaft could be crooked by any means?
it does not goes easily up and down (following the spring tension)
but it stuck (like something is not well aligned)
    Thank you in advance!
    Mike Kapetan

How to exchange Electric Winch System for Hydraulic Winch System on a sailboat?

  • @deadstick8863

I am researching options for a new blue water cruising catamaran that will be 48v based electrical system. Do yo offer 48v motor option for your electric winches? We would prefer to not have to complicate the electricals with large stepdown transformers to get to your standard 24v motors.

I see this is posted 4 years ago but I have a question. Lets say the boat sinks and stays sunk for a week. Totally submerged. What is the worst case scenario for the electrified parts of the winch. I'm assuming in a pinch that the electric motors can be disconnected and the winch can be used manually.

Hi Mike, Thanks for watching and for this thoughtful question. With new technology constantly evolving, you might be surprised to learn about one Harken winch feature that has been around for years: the disconnect rod. This simple yet unassuming part disconnects the motor from the bottom of the center shaft when a handle is inserted in the winch socket. In the event of a power failure, this allows you to use the winch in manual mode, without the added resistance of turning the motor and gearbox. This safety feature also stops a winch handle from spinning if the button is pressed accidentally.

@@harken Fantastic response thank you very much! Eventually the goal is to attach new motors to the winches. Once I get to that point I'll find out what model winches are on the boat and get the parts I'll need. All the best to the Harken team I am an old beach cat sailor who has lusted over beautiful harken blocks and other parts for my H16 or SC22 :)

Hi, I have old Harken 44CST winches, can i convert them to electrical ?

    • @harken
      @harken  4 года назад

Hi Ferry, Thanks for your interest. Yes, it is possible to convert these winches to electric. Please call us for product availability; we are happy to help. It's worth noting that most Harken winches made after 1999 are designed to be converted. In your case with these older style winches, converting them to electric (using a BK44E12H.CONV kit) is a similar price as a new 46 Radial electric winch. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance to you.
