The Kaiweets looks KaiSweet and KaiFull of practical features but the test lead sockets would make you feel KaiWeird and KaiSad when misplaced or lost. Battery access is KaiFiddly. The internal components are KaiNice. No IC blob. To the HT112B designers, please dose down on Kai's Weed. Hehe
Thank you Darren, Kai pon testing!
You're a Kaiweet Poet and you didn't even know it ! 😄
The input jacks are small, but at least you can change them if you can find a replacement. The current drain from this design should be better than the Aneng 618C. All-in-all, it seems to be a nice little meter. Good Review.
Nice DMM,but display needs to more contrast may be your studio lights affecting not sure....probes needed to be standard one....over all good design n cell phone design DMM.....
One can reverse LCDs themselves if so desired, just flip the polarizers around
Also, these test leads are just skirted/shrouded variants of the lead jacks from the 1960s and 1970s, which were just a small pin similar in size to what you have there that had no shroud at all!
So true..! Yes the captive leads are definitely a weak spot with this dmm.
Not sure if you noticed, but you can just remove one screw on the back to remove the battery cover. The batteries will clip in here fine.
Roger that!
For those that like to roll their own test leads it appears that 2mm
banana jacks work just fine. If you don't wish to make your own,
Probemaster offers its 8000 series probes in 2mm banana plug or .080
pin format. I've not tried those as I planned on making my own anyway.
Just throwing options out there for folks concerned about the test
leads.
Excellent feedback!! Appreciate the info!
😃👍
@@KeepOnTesting These are the plugs I bought to see if they would work: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CHW6LW6/ Someone may find this helpful in the future
@@reverendstabard17 Awesome 👌
@@reverendstabard17 How did those plugs you posted a link to work out for you?
@@BangBang-hk4rg They work fine. Nice fit into the meter, the cup holding the wire is smaller than that for a 4mm jack, so it's easier to solder the wire into it. You might need to use a smaller gauge wire than what you'd normally use but the jacks work well. It's nice having options as I prefer little grabbers to pointed test leads for most of my work. That being said, I don't use the meter too often, I have too many to choose from! lol
Why does the Kai Weet?
Because it can't Tweet!
Dang...you're good 👍
Kaiweets, Welcome!
I would definitely want to have this smart multimeter if it was available here in India. Needs many improvisations though.
Always Waiting For Your Videos ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Would have like to see a Li-ion usb rechargeable like the Chinese ones.
Nice review of the multimeter. Do you know other multimeters in the price range of the kaiweets ht112b that have diode mode with audible beep?
Yes Kiaweet Is Nice Little Budget Digital Multimeter, It's Unfortunate I Did The Same Thing, I Blew The Fuse, I Was Trying Figure Out What Did I Do Wrong, It Happened So Quick,...I Had To Order (FLUKE) FUSES From Amazon, Because Those Little Ceramic 630ma 250v Fuses Are Hard To Find,...But Great Review,...Like You Said Them Test Leads Need To Be Standard Form Factor👍👍👍
Roger that Derrick...its one of the best "smart" multimeters yet ! Just a shame about those silly nonstandard inputs..!👍
Great review again Darren, glad to see I haven't order a piece of junk 😅 be interesting to see difference in performance and quality between it and your Aneng 618. Enjoying all reviews keep them coming
Thx Sean....maybe a comparative review at some point!
@@KeepOnTesting hope you got a spare Aneng 618 to do comparison 🤭
@@seangannon193 Hehe..
Not sure about this one. NCV range so far out ie giving red light six inches in all directions. Second and most importantly I agree with the leads, however, on closer inspection although they are printed Cat 111, when you take the cap off at the end it is printed Cat 11 and again on the cap, it says Cat 111?. Have a look at yours please if it is the same
I'll take a peek and report back soon..
hi Darren received the aneng meter and your cool sanwa torch thank you so much. the aneng and kaiweets which do you think is better i love them both
That's too close to call..I think they're both pretty equal. Both have put out some great multimeters this past year!
So happy your goods safely arrived..congrats 👏 once again!
good description darren learning more form you.👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks .
good performance meter, but, yeah, that input jacks really are a deal breaker. great review btw, Darren. 👍🏻😉
So true Radius...lets hope KAIWEETS sees the light ... !
Hello , Let me answer this question. In order to make the HT112B multimeter more lightweight and portable, we designed this smaller jack. This will not affect its accuracy/security or any other aspects. We will continue to improve it to produce a portable multimeter that is suitable for everyone.
I bought one and I have to hold it at an angle just to see the lcd very annoying
What a different with habotest. I seen same.
Nice review bro
Great DMM, but I can't figure why they choose input jacks like this...
You and me both..? What were they thinking 🤔?? It really defeats the purpose of having removable test leads..in this case they would have been better off permanently attaching them to the meter...at least you can't lose them !
Hi can I ask your advise, I'm torn between this and the Aneng 618c any help appreciated!
Sorry for the late reply, both are good choices...I would probably choose the KAIWEETS 😀👍
Hello. Thanks for your video. Question for you; what size Amp fuse should I get to replace the one that came with the Kaiweets HT112B multimeter? It only shows the voltage - F630amH 250V on the one that apparently blew, but it doesn't tell me what current should be on the fuse. I checked at Amazon and they do sell them, but from a minimum of 0.5A to a maximum of 10A. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
You can get the proper size-rated fuse here: rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2F333016842549&campid=5338362906&toolid=20008
The fuse is rated@630mA-Fast Blow 5x20mm

Thank you so much! 🙏
@@TheUnlocking Anytime my friend. Btw, Those NTE Fuses are very good. Keep On Testing !
Unlike Reason?
Got the KAIWEETS HT112B & was immediately disappointed in the LOW contrast display. It also has a very narrow viewing angle to maximize what contrast is there. My free/cheap Harbor Freights have a much better display. If the Kaiweets had a high contrast display it'd be a winner. I am sending mine back.
Sorry to hear your dissatisfied with the display. Its not the greatest but I think its adequate considering the size of the display. As always, YMMV. Thx for the feedback 😀👍
That was not to diminish your review, which I found helpful. 👍
@@Homer19521 Oh my, no worries 👍 I'm always appreciative of feedback. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Thx for the kudos. Hopefully, KAIWEETS can tweak the display and improve it in a future release.
OK, I took mine apart & I found a number of poor looking solder connections. The 2 battery holders were poorly soldered. I removed the LCD panel & cleaned the pads on the PC board. It now looks more like the one that Kiss Analog has in his review. But it still has a very narrow viewing angle for good contrast & the glass screen is very prone to glare. I will check all the functions in the next few days to ensure everything works well. Thanx.
@@Homer19521 Keep us updated ! 👍
Hi Darren have you noticed that this meter and the Ht118a both have difficulty reading capacitors in circuit, they don't even try to produce a reading they both go blank? I find this very strange. Now I know for best reading it is best to test capacitors out of circuit as sometimes it is just plain impossible to take a reading.
But using my old wavetek 27xt I can often take a reading in circuit , testing the same cap with the 2 cheapo meter I can't see anything on the screen?
It looks like the Wavetek is using a different technique to test capacitors. It's not as good as my esr tester but get the job done most of the time and the cheapos can't? Weird
I must say this small meter is very fast thats why I got it, for the most part faster than my other 4 meters!!! Cheers
Great points Luc...absolutely not good at reading caps in circuit, most CHEAP-O Multimeters are guilty of this as well but as you know removing them or at least part of them from the circuit is preferred. Those Waveteks are indeed great Multimeters..I have quite a few and they all perform like Champs 🏆
@@KeepOnTesting lol 2 cheepos later and my favorite meter is still my old Wavetek. Ironically my Wavetek doesn't do well at being accurate on larger caps and it won't do large caps but at least it will read them in circuit most of the time. Aaaaaahhh its hard to get it ALL lol! Have a great weekend!
@@lucbeauvais1847 Ain't that the truth Luc! Well..the more the merrier I guess 😀👍always room for another ..💫 have a great W/E
Is this the cousin of habotest? I like the review.
Basically that's correct...! Keep On Testing!
Oh, wow, they are in good competition.
Wow..look at the LCD. We could play DOOM on that
Bit expensive in the UK its $60 here Daz!
This or the 618c or Aneng 620a hmmm!
Decisions decisions - a man can never have too many multimeters, screwdriver sets or drill bits , a bit like women and shoes maybe i should just buy them all!
The last answer seems the best 👌hehe
My choice.. Aneng 618C...it boasts a usable bar graph, good performance and the best looking display of the bunch..😄👍🤪
@@KeepOnTesting 👍
@@garrygemmell5676 decisions decisions 🤔
Nice test and DMM, shows the incremental improvements for DMMs in this form factor. If these were made by one of the more mainstream manufacturers they'd probably do away with the touch sensitive switches, probably be like updated versions of the Fluke 11/12/13, and have gorilla glass too.
Gorilla glass makes sense, although it would probably cost the OEMs a small fortune. Probably one of my biggest pet peeves is how easy some of these CHEAP-O Multimeters displays can be scratched.
@@KeepOnTesting Well that's why they're cheap!
@@ramonjrballesteros1523 😄👍
Ive been waiting to see how long before someone finally came up with modular jacks on one of these, but proprietary design could be an issue as you stated - even if ya didnt lose the leads what if a plug breaks or worse yet one of those frail looking split jacks. Also, even if it did have a tilt stand the lead plugs might be in the way of it working. I will have to give them credit as being the first to implement detachable leads on a smart meter, only one I know of so far. This one works pretty well, with good accuracy though I still kinda see these smart meters as a bit of a tech novelty and an ongoing work in progress, but progress is indeed being made -- though in most cases I still fail to see much reason for choosing one of these over some decent full function $25+ meters available for the same money., they seem like a novelty gadget looking for a specific purpose - but they are improving and to each his own right-?
Amen Mike! Yes I'm not convinced that SMART is where it's at but as you say , progress is definitely being made !
Good call about the test leads/tilt stand...much like the Fluke 101...definitely the location would make it much more difficult to implement.
@@KeepOnTesting Then again, some might say its a pocket meter and they generally arent "stand friendly" for that reason....lol??
I should have known that you would have received one of these meters too;)
I guess we're mutually exclusive 🤪
I'm glad we both had the opportunity 👍
nice
Habotest HT112B please ;)
I wish you could switch the temperature to Fahrenheit lol
Lol that’s what I’m looking for
Please do some analog multimeter review... 😅😅
Great feedback I will put a couple of Analog multimeters on the list 😀 👍

There is much to like about this cheap-o, but......the non-standard leads, the slow continuity response, etc means I have to pass.
Definitely a work on progress...
