Only thing I don't agree with is saying that all beginners will fall. Saying that alone will turn off so many people because they think it is something inevitable. While it is more likely you will drop the bike or fall as a beginner, it's not guaranteed. Other than that, good video.
I started on a zx6r and fell 2 times my first month after that i haven't dropped it, my friend started on a cbr1000 and his bike is flawless we both ride around the same, i just happened to run into situations that were hard to avoid as long as you treat the bike with respect and don't full throttle it all the time you'll be good
Dude thanks soo much. I feel really confident in riding a motorcycle now. I have a yamaha r6 and it was scary at first but now its soo easy. Thanks lots man!!!
The first thing I would recommend is taking the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) course. They provide the easy to learn on motorcycles an they are really good. Plus, you figure out if motorcycle riding is for you before you invest in a motorcycle.
This video was so well done!!! I’m a complete beginner!! Saying that all beginners will fall to putting that out there will knock the nerves off ahead of time and I liked that. Think of it like a bicycle you fall you get back up. If you don’t accept that you MIGHT fall don’t get a bike
400 is an excellent range to start off with. In Japan new riders train at the rider schools on Honda CB 400s. Of course, these schools last a couple weeks long if you take 2 classes a day. They teach you a LOT more than the rider schools in the States.
Ahh bro you finally got around to doing this haha I remember we were talking about it loooooong ago!!! Nicely done man this is definitely a bit more than your first one, perfect remake/ updated video! Miss riding with you dude it's been toooooooooo long, next season man we didn't get out enough this year haha, next year for-sure!! We should ride to Van city on a roadtrip !
I feel that truly, this is one of the best episodes that I have seen that best illustrates how to drive a bike at first. I will start that at first I was hesitant of this channel. However, I have come to realize that this channel best illustrates how to start on a beginner bike and then some, without the confusion of not seeing what you are believing.
+1satinwarrior I think, I can help u. When I am stopping at red light, I prefer to downshift the gear to 2nd or 1st gear(usually 1st gear, in case the light turn green before I fully stop). But u can also stop at any gear(1~6). Because when u are stall, u still can downshift the gear. quickly. Just step on the paddle until 1st gear or neutral.
For some reason I thought that shifting gears on motorcycles is harder than on cars. I want to get my licence, but I kind of have this irrational fear that I might get my foot stuck on/under the shifter (I know it sounds stupid) or simply freeze on what should I do next and hinder the traffic or something. You made it look so much easier, thanks a lot. I'm so happy I ran into your channel :)
I want to thank you for your videos it has helped me alot as a beginning rider, you provide excellent details as well as having a clear voice to understand your tips in all the videos you have up loaded thank you .
Getting my license in a few weeks and your video is very helpful. At 18 years of age I can only get the license for a 125cc, but I found a nice little cruiser. No need for speed, for that I've got my turbodiesel car.
Oh man I used this video to get the basics down last year for my first ever riding season, and now just sent it to my buddy who wants to start riding as well, but I never realized back then that you're also from Calgary :o! Small world.
honestly i want something that is on the cheaper end that is still has a good amount of power and something i could have fun with. Do you have any recommendations? and i would like it to be kinda fast.
@TheVJProduction try explaining someone new to motorcycles how to ride under 5 minutes then, you life is on the risk here people need as much information as possible on how to ride, that's why there's riding courses that take hours to complete
Stealing a bike "Not that I know anything about it..." Haha, I love your spirit and the way you express/illustrate things even though you may appear a bit anxious and quite nervous actually. I can tell since I'm that guy in my entire life.
Well then obviously you're not looking to know how to ride a bike. People who *do* want to learn how to ride a motorbike would prefer to know how, and why everything works.
Gaming Central send me a link to your tutorial my guy.. I'd like to see your better one.. Oh wait you didn't make one oh... I see You're just talking shit.. like come on I know he did like ramble a little bit but I thought video was well done.. criticism is good don't get me wrong, but the video wasn't bad
I'm going to buy an 2008 Aprilia RS 125 in April and i think it's going to be a nice beginner motorcycle. I have some experience with motorcycles, i own an ATV which is 50ccm , but now i decided i need to change a category and go for a bigger bike, so this video helped me a lot. Keep up the good work! :)
Here's some great starter bikes. Once you buy it try to get it at least 15-20psi of boost from a high quality turbo and 5-7psi of NOS on top of that, try for a minimum of 300-500hp @5500+rpm to peak. Trailer the bike to Santiago Canyon Road in California line up the bike then just turn it on yank the throttle and bomb the fuck out of it. Ducati 1098 Series BMW K1200 S Aprilia RSV 1000R Mille MV Agusta F4 Kawasaki H2 Yamaha YZF R1 Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird MTT Turbine Superbike Y2K Suzuki Hayabusa
K1200? why not the bmw S1000RR? most bikes you cant even really harness the full power of the bike over 205 HP. the K1200 actually isn't that bad of a bike to start on though. It has a lot of power, but its definitely a smooth ride on the highway. my dad has a K1200RS
Shut the fuck up you donkey are you trying to get people killed, not sensible at all. 600 is the highest anyone should go for their first bike. Most suitable options are Yamaha R3, Ninja 300, CBR300. R6 is okay for confident riders.
I'm still only 14 so I don't even have my license yet(have to be 15 and half to take the paper test and 16 to take the drivers test [not sure what you law is]) so I'm new getting into this stuff. I've always wanted to ride a motorcycle but didn't know anything about it. But thanks to u I've learn about the motorcycle and what not (I'm totally not commenting this before I finish the video....). So thank you for making this video and I'm saying this for all the beginners that came here like me :3. Ps- my sister is 15 so I'm actually learning along with her on how to drive and stuff but nothing advanced. Okay now I finished so thank you very much!
I'm glad you found my video helpful. I have other videos for riding that you should definitely check out :) If you have any questions, please ask away!
I'm glad I could help :) you'll do great! Once you actually get on a motorcycle it's like a bicycle but just motorized. You'll get the hang of it in no time

Yo dude thanks for the tutorials on you're channel, and hopefully when I get 18 I'm probably going to get a ninja 300, just like yours in white thanks bro and your channel is great and keep up with the good work👍🏻
hahaha sorry mate. I should have said there's a good chance you'll drop the bike :P But one thing you'll learn when you get involved in the riding community is not if but when. Everyone is expected to drop that bike at one point in their life haha although I have a friend who's been riding 30+ years and he's got a clean record :O!!!!
I couldn't imagine working 6 jobs... I worked 2 jobs (1 full time, 1 part time - 13-14 hour days) and I was dying myself...Good on you! Some questions: What's the financial burden with motorcycling(Motorcycle, mods, gear, lessons) for you in Calgary? How much does a 300cc cost for you brand new? Its ~ $5,000 here from a BC dealer before tax. Would you pay extra for ABS? If you had a choice between only a car or motorcycle which would you get. I know the weather over there has insane winters, but what would you consider if you were in a city like Vancouver where it rains 7 months in a year. What's your opinion on jackets with airbags that deploy during an accident? Would you buy it? www.dainese.com/ca_en/d-air/street/ www.safermoto.com/products/index.html Stay safe.
I assume before your shift up the next gear upward, that you don't have to necessarily flip the throttle, but maybe more so if your going down a gear therefore rev matching?
What if i don't know if i want to ride a bike? I know i'll love the feeling, but i'm not sure if i want to ride a dangerous vehicle. Also, I don't have any friends with a bike (not even a scooter) so there is no way for me to try it. Any suggestions? PS. i really like riding a bicycle and actually everything with wheels. I just like to be on the road.
theodoro89 that's definitely a predicament. I recommend taking a motorcycle safety course. That way you'll get to ride it for a few days in a safe environment and learn about it. Lots of people take it to see if it's for them :)
Hey I really enjoyed this video. I'm looking to buy a bike sometime soon. My best friend has a yamaha R6. And he loves it. And now I want to start riding. Is it possible to make a video that involves you doing more up shifting and down shifting. Like on a regular road. So I can get an idea on how to shift up and down riding on main roads. Also what do you do when you need to make a quick stop.
So basically its the same exact thing as a manual car just different locations obviously. Its ganna take some time for me to learn but im sure ill get the hang of it. Does help that i know how to drive a stick shift car too
Always been learning towards honda because 1 i work at a honda dealership and 2 i just know how damn good they make their engines. I wont be doing much track, more mountain cruising than anything :)
Daniel Gonzalez It's just a matter of coordinating "right hand throttle off, left hand clutch in, foot up/down" instead of "foot push and right hand gear change". The basic principle is the exact same one as in "shift up by ear and shift down by feel"
I'm surprised you never mentioned counter steering to steer a moving bike. That should at least been demonstrated. Maybe next time mention you can be hurt or killed on any size bike, no matter it's engine size, and caution should always be used.
nice video i just got a yamaha r6 my 1st bike and i never ride before the first time i ride it was yesterday after i watch your video and i did good didnt fall and did change it to 2nd lol thats it ima try a lil faster today
What always confused me is why are the gears 1 down 4-5 up? why not just 5 up like a sequential gearbox in cars? assuming you in a car park or in traffic, how do you go from 2nd to first? is 2nd to first a push down past neutral into first?
Thanks bro..good information for me.. Im getting my new 2015 motorbike soo .. And I have no idea how to ride lol .. but thanks man this we'll help me not to crash
u dont rev when shifting from 1st to 2nd...when u shift from 2nd to 1st u would...doing it from 1st to 2nd would cause problems...such as do it to much and ur gonna be in a wheelie...
Thanks dude! I'm glad I could help! What yamaha are you riding? :D I always wanted to ride a yami. I rode an R6 for about a week while my bike was being fixed and it was amazing :)
MyLifeOnEarth 365 I'm looking at a FZ6R :) I know it's a 600 but I have nothing but respect for these beautiful machines, and I will treat her the best I can! I've been looking at that bike for over a year now and I can't wait. Keep it up with your videos man!
I have 15 years and 2 months and in about 6-7 months ill get my A1 licence. Do you think Aprilia Rs 125 is good for a beginner, because I love that bike. Thanks a lot, Max from Romania
I think Aprilia makes beautiful bikes :) I've never rode any Aprilias before but I've heard good things about it. 125cc would be good depending on how you will be using the bike for :) If you plan on doing lots of highway traveling, I highly recommend something bigger like 250 or 300 but if you are just riding to work or just around town, then 125 will be a fun bike and good beginner bike :)
Ryan Hong If your choice is between the cbr 250 or cbr 300, DEFINITELY cbr 300. The extra 50 cc will come in handy and the bike won't rev as high on high ways. You can easily give passengers a ride too although the 250 can do that too but 300 is easier. I personally think the 300 has much better styling/looks. They both hold resale value pretty good :) You may find both of them to be a little bit small on you if you are 6ft tall. Try sitting on them and see how you feel. If you are tight on cash, go with which ever one is cheaper which will probably be 250 but if you can get a 300, I say get the 300.
Oh_Just_Ignore_Me wearing gear is your choice. there have been people who have died leaving their garage. as for helmets, it depends on the law of where you live. but personally I will always wear helmet
Im 13 turning 14 i want a bike and just asking is it just like riding a bike a little ? Another question is there such thing. As a. Atomatic motorcycle not manual with 6 gears or 5
Mike Spano If you know how to ride a bicycle, riding a motorcycle should feel very familiar. It's not the same but balancing is the same :) Also there are automatic motorcycles but it's very expensive and hard to find. Almost every bike right now is made manual.
Mike Spano all 50cc scooters and bikes are automatic as they only have the one gear and no clutch, it sounds shit but its a good place to start, there's a honda 50cc dirtbike with three gears which is semi-automatic (has gears and neutral but no clutch) if you want something bigger you may as well learn to ride a geared bike
Hey would really appreciate some help, im a new comer to this and im about to start riding, right now im limited to a 125cc and wanted to findnout what the best 125cc you would reccomemd for me, thanks.
Markulator ya I can up shift without rev matching. But rev matching is what I was taught from the motorcycle school so I figured I'd relay the same information
I usually downshift until the last little bit of the stopping. Then I use the brakes. To find out when I should start downshift and when I should brake, I just played around with it until I found out how fast my bike can decelerate.
if it's emergency braking, you pull the clutch lever all the way in while braking with BOTH front and rear brakes and downshift until you can't anymore. So you don't have to downshift one at a time for emergency braking :)
Wow, the shifting and clutching got complicated. It would be really good to learn on a electric motorcycle without a clutch and one speed. This would let you focusing on riding dynamics like turning and braking. Plus the throttle is predictable and smooth on a electric motorcycle.
+Joseph Brody lol well if you were to learn on an electric motorcycle you would never know how to ride a proper motorcycle. manual transmission its part of the experience.
I'm starting out on a Honda CB125 just as a daily commute from home to the gym or work. no plans of long distance travelling until I get my full license. Any input?
When I went and picked up my Kawasaki Ninja 250 I had to ride it home on the highway first time I've ever taken a 250cc on the highway and it screamed at me begging for at least one more gear oh, I felt so bad for her, the scream see made was blood-curdling

Altough i didn't need this video, i still found it well done and somewhat entertaining.
You earned a sub!
Kid574 Thank you! haha I'm glad it was entertaining enough for someone who already knows how to ride to watch it haha cheers!
Kid574 I did the same
The first thing I would recommend is taking the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) course. They provide the easy to learn on motorcycles an they are really good. Plus, you figure out if motorcycle riding is for you before you invest in a motorcycle.
When i started to learn to drive i just wore my iron man suit.

This video was so well done!!! I’m a complete beginner!! Saying that all beginners will fall to putting that out there will knock the nerves off ahead of time and I liked that. Think of it like a bicycle you fall you get back up. If you don’t accept that you MIGHT fall don’t get a bike
I appreciate your compliments!!!! Glad you liked it
100 percent hes tried to steal a bike
+Michael Cook not that i know anything about that u know haha lol
I would try to steal my own bike... To improve its security lol😂😂
100 percent he tried to steal a real bike like a Ninja liter bike to replace his tiny one
400 is an excellent range to start off with. In Japan new riders train at the rider schools on Honda CB 400s. Of course, these schools last a couple weeks long if you take 2 classes a day. They teach you a LOT more than the rider schools in the States.

This means a lot to me. Thank you for the support
my question is, when stopping a bike at a red light can you stop at any gear or do you have to downshift to first gear and then stop?
+1satinwarrior i think u need to go to neutral and when the light goes green then u go to first and so on... I'm not sure tho D:
+1satinwarrior I think, I can help u. When I am stopping at red light, I prefer to downshift the gear to 2nd or 1st gear(usually 1st gear, in case the light turn green before I fully stop). Mamat Sapik wwo thank you. yup that def helped
You could stop in any gear as long as u have the clutch engaged. Once ur at a stop u could shift it down to first and just hold the clutch in.
i was about to ask that haha
I just got my Motorcycle license today, and when I started riding this video helped me so much
I'm so glad I could help :) Thanks for the comment!
This is the best video for beginners, thanks!!
I was really confused about the gear shifting but after searching through so many vids, finally one that explains it really well! Thanks man :)
Liam Kane I'm glad I could help! I know it can be confusing when you are new to it. I definitely was haha
MyLifeOnEarth 365 i'm glad you follow traffic laws unlike some motorcyclists.
3:18 He fucked himself over when he said that lol Imao
+Hritik Ronvelia hahahahahahahahaha
I'm 6'2 so I was way too big for the smaller sized bike. Had to get a CBR600 to start and don't regret a bit of it
that's the same with my buddy whytetigerrides! He's like 6Foot4Honda and super tall. He bought a cbr600 and loved it. Now he rides a cruiser lol
holy fuck. a tree at 130. Hope all is well bro. thanks for the video
thanks :) it was km/hr so not as fast as people think but it hurt.
For some reason I thought that shifting gears on motorcycles is harder than on cars. I want to get my licence, but I kind of have this irrational fear that I might get my foot stuck on/under the shifter (I know it sounds stupid) or simply freeze on what should I do next and hinder the traffic or something.

what?! you're from calgary?! haha such a small world!!!!!!
what about a 2006 Suzuki GSX-R 600 for a first bike?
Ian Black If you think you can control the throttle and the power the bike has to offer, go for it :) It's a fun bike!
honestly i want something that is on the cheaper end that is still has a good amount of power and something i could have fun with. Do you have any recommendations? and i would like it to be kinda fast.
then go with the GSXR 600 :) It's priced nicely and it's FAST.
thank you for helping me out
no problem!
I already know how to ride but I found this entertaining and some other people did too
this could be a 5 min video done properly
why don't you make one then ?
+IINoisyBoyII He can't make one about bikes because he only rides a 50cc vespa
@TheVJProduction try explaining someone new to motorcycles how to ride under 5 minutes then, you life is on the risk here people need as much information as possible on how to ride, that's why there's riding courses that take hours to complete
Awesome video, just an heads up, the slopey parking lot is to manage rain water to specific drains.

perfect video for teaching people how to ride. I'm definitely gonna use this video again once I get my bike. seems pretty similar to driving a stick

Glad I could help :)
I'm about to get my first motorcycle, I found this excellent.
glad I could help! I'm really excited for you to start riding!
Sure glad I learned how to drive on a stick shift. Learning to ride a motorcycle should be a piece of cake. Sweet windy rumbling cake.
haha ya you already know the concept so it should be a breeze haha
This was the first video that actually explain it well, thanks!
TravisTavern thank you! I'm glad you liked it!
I assume before your shift up the next gear upward, that you don't have to necessarily flip the throttle, but maybe more so if your going down a gear therefore rev matching?
thank you bro i like and sub i learn using a grom now iknow hpw to ride now i got to start saving money for a cbr 600rr
I'm glad you liked it!
I started out on a 750cc and it was much harder and heavier vs when I first tried to ride a 250
you forgot to say if you use only the front or the back break or use both
Vader9568 whatever makes you comfortable. Don't use front brake on corners it will make your bike stand up straight when you are leaning
Once the weather gets nice, I'll definitely make a vid of that for you :)
I see you with that timeflies intro ;)
So basically its the same exact thing as a manual car just different locations obviously. Its ganna take some time for me to learn but im sure ill get the hang of it. Does help that i know how to drive a stick shift car too
Daniel Gonzalez pretty much :) you just have to get the hang of using different controls to do the same thing
MyLifeOnEarth 365 Seems like it, damn i cant wait! I think ive decided on a Honda CBR 600 to start off with
You can't go wrong with Honda man haha they are just really good. Amazing track bike :)
The basic principle is the exact same one as in "shift up by ear and shift down by feel"
so what's the difference between a normal shift and a downshift? how does it work
+Luis R there's up shift or down shift. down shift to go down in gear and up shift to go up in gear :)
Thanks for sharing this is a good way to go
Marvin Smith no problem :)
Dude I go to that school, Robert thirsk high school lol , can't wait for this summer Deerfoot mall meets xD
Paul The Rider hahah seriously?! that's awesome! dude keep an eye out on my channel. my bike is different now
my only problem in riding is turning on corners. How can.i get in a better balance or turning better in corners?
do you mean during slow speed?
I'm surprised you never mentioned counter steering to steer a moving bike. That should at least been demonstrated. Maybe next time mention you can be hurt or killed on any size bike, no matter it's engine size, and caution should always be used.
nice video i just got a yamaha r6 my 1st bike and i never ride before the first time i ride it was yesterday after i watch your video and i did good didnt fall and did change it to 2nd lol thats it ima try a lil faster today
Congrats!!! R6 is an amazing bike haha I'm glad my videos helped you :)
Funny you said that 300s don't have gear indicators. Ever ridden an R3?
I think you misunderstood. my 300 had a gear indicator.
And I have no idea how to ride lol .. but thanks man this we'll help me not to crash
good luck! I'm glad I could help!
u dont rev when shifting from 1st to 2nd...when u shift from 2nd to 1st u would...doing it from 1st to 2nd would cause problems...such as do it to much and ur gonna be in a wheelie...
thanks bro ima get a Suzuki gsxr 2007 600cc
Awesome video man, I'm learning a lot. Hopefully I'll have my used yamaha soon and i'll refer back to these vids! Ride safe!
Keep it up with your videos man!
bob billion thanks so much! The FZ6R is a beautiful bike! Keep me posted haha
bob billion its not really a 600
DavidGFilms Well great, even better for a beginner.
Thanks man, you were awesome . I am getting a bike soon and you were helpful.
I have 15 years and 2 months and in about 6-7 months ill get my A1 licence. Do you think Aprilia Rs 125 is good for a beginner, because I love that bike. Thanks a lot,
Max from Romania
I think Aprilia makes beautiful bikes :) I've never rode any Aprilias before but I've heard good things about it. 125cc would be good depending on how you will be using the bike for :) If you plan on doing lots of highway traveling, I highly recommend something bigger like 250 or 300 but if you are just riding to work or just around town, then 125 will be a fun bike and good beginner bike :)
ms ms
very cool thanks for show this how would use your morries on a motor way or free way
that intro tho lol it was actually catchy
thanks :)
I'm looking to ride bikes in the future, I'm 6 ft 120 lbs. Do you recommend a Honda CBR250 or Honda CBR300? Thanks for your input. Great vid btw
What if I just had to ride to school?? (I would say it would be a 15 minute drive) do i still have to wear all of the gear??
Oh_Just_Ignore_Me wearing gear is your choice. there have been people who have died leaving their garage. as for helmets, it depends on the law of where you live. but personally I will always wear helmet
you coverd the basics thanks realy but you didn't talk about the breaks which is the most important thing in driving
+Gab Mushakess The most important thing in riding is being alive.
Nice man, Very informative! Nice bike too.
Glad I could help!
A 300 dosent have a gear indicator... the grom has one!
I want to buy my first. what I want is it must be 250cc, good looking and exhaust sound like a Ferrari. any suggestions?
well just booked le CBT
Hello i love your video but i got my A1 license yesterday and i want to get a "2003 kawasaki 636" can i drive it with A1 or i need A2 ?
I'm not familiar with your local law so I'm not sure :(
@@JPVisuals okay thanks for answering
Hey would really appreciate some help, im a new comer to this and im about to start riding, right now im limited to a 125cc and wanted to findnout what the best 125cc you would reccomemd for me, thanks.
hmmmm I don't know too much about 125 cc bikes but personally I learned on a Honda CBR 125cc and I loved it :)
So if ur in 4th & let's say u wanna roll it off u can't just go from 4th to neutral & coast right? U have to downshift from 4th to 1st then Neutral?
yup! I mean you can disengage the clutch and coast but you'll have to kick down to neutral
Rev matching is optional, I revmatch on downshifts, never up shifts but hey what ever works for you
Markulator ya I can up shift without rev matching. But rev matching is what I was taught from the motorcycle school so I figured I'd relay the same information
MyLifeOnEarth 365 do you always downshift when decelerating? where do the brakes come into play?
I usually downshift until the last little bit of the stopping. Then I use the brakes. To find out when I should start downshift and when I should brake, I just played around with it until I found out how fast my bike can decelerate.
MyLifeOnEarth 365 so will it be an issue in case of an emergency, say the car ahead of me slams on his brakes?
if it's emergency braking, you pull the clutch lever all the way in while braking with BOTH front and rear brakes and downshift until you can't anymore. So you don't have to downshift one at a time for emergency braking :)
Hey bro how much slack
(free play) should your clutch have? Should it engage right at the end like yours or does it change from bike to bike ?
the clutch lever generally has some free play :) it definitely changes from bike to bike :)
when you are really good at cycling, is it easy? im only 15 and 2 metres long, does that make it more difficult?
U just gonna need a bike that's comfortable to u
Wow, the shifting and clutching got complicated.
It would be really good to learn on a electric motorcycle without a clutch and one speed. This would let you focusing on riding dynamics like turning and braking. Plus the throttle is predictable and smooth on a electric motorcycle.
+Joseph Brody lol well if you were to learn on an electric motorcycle you would never know how to ride a proper motorcycle. manual transmission its part of the experience.
+kade b crashing can be part of the experience too ;)
At 10:05 did anyone else pause and tried to work out what do do and picture yourself on an bike
hahaha I did it when I was learning XD
Oh ok i get it now thanx man that really helped a lot awesome video!
glad I could help!
Im planning on getting one, and i am a beginner. Is honda 500 r okay would you say for beginners?
I think that's pretty pretty good bike :)
Dam nice. Where did you get those decals for your ninja 300???
legokingiscool It actually came with the fairing. It's clear coated on.
MyLifeOnEarth 365 oh thats cool m8.
