I’m glad to see you’re moving your colognes because sunlight on them dissipates their scent and evaporates the liquid
I didn’t know that! Thanks for the tip.
Yes, I am glad as well! Immediately was going to say that UV rays from the sun are not good. They cause damage to the particles and can break it down faster / change it as well!
I like the off white. Clothes are sometimes colorful and it make things less busy. Great work. Can't wait to see the progress next time.
For the color I would prefer a off white color that way it’s brighter in the room for light purposes. ❤
I would go with the off-white. I like brighter spaces, especially if there isn't any natural light.
Hi Kelsey, I think the off white/ creamy color is good for a closet.
I like the color of jogging path. Subtle but just enough color.I love the idea of shiplap coving the window wall. It is going to be so much more functional.
Years ago, a decorator told me I would quickly grow tired of dark colors. I didn't like so but I DID! You want light when trying to find clothes...the moody green may be fine in the bedroom. You would be better served to have a much lighter shade on the walls of your closet.
I really need to learn how to add recessed lighting. Great job doing that in your project
Definitely a light color. It's a small space and you need adequate light.
The third color from the left is beautiful. Not too light and it would be too dark if you did it like your room. You would want to feel like your walking into a different space if it was a different color. My thought anyway ;) can't wait tonsee what happens as I'm so ready to redo my closet!
I like white closets, myself. Clothing shows up better against the background and white doesn’t influence how you see the colors of the clothes.
I would paint the walls the same color as the bedroom and the wardrobe a light color...I think..🤔😂 Excited to see the process and final result!!
We always need a better designed closet and also getting rid of the wire shelves help. I would definitely go with a lighter color for your closet and I am looking forward to next weeks video.😊❤😊
Looking forward to seeing you do this project because I have a similar project in mind. I would have liked to see more of the step-by-step process of moving the lights. Great channel!
I go into detail in this video-

I can't wait to see your closet come together! You always pick the right paint color....you have such a great eye for what works in your space! I hope you have a great week!
Love closet make overs!
The room is too small for the dark color and you want light in the closet when you pick the clothes. I know some influencers chose dark but that is what I think. I would choose wallpaper instead of a shiplap wall. I know you want to repeat patterns from the house, but the wallpaper will be a nice change. It also is a nice touch for the kids and guest rooms. For the vent, there are some vent covers that redirect the air. It may not be the best to have the air blow straight on your clothes. That is my humble opinion. 😁 Have you considered a turn table shelf in the corner instead of the long dresses? The dresses can stay in the same spot with drawers beneath and a shelf above. That would make plenty of room for the shoes. I have seen it on YT build your own. It may help you to keep the budget in check? Otherwise, pull out drawers for the shoes. That may be easier to do DIY. Maybe a spot for a step ladder for the higher-up shelves to access? So many options.
I didnt know this for the longest time but make sure to keep your fragrances in a cool dry place away from the window. Sun, heat, moisture all degrade them over time. ❤
you should move the door away from the window side enough so you can use the window wall for storage as well. natural light in a closet is pretty nice I would not cover the window up. You can always use the full space and just have hanging clothes partially covering the window but still letting light in
Maybe, the off white paint colour? That way, you can see the items in your closet easier and if you decide in the future , to change the paint colour on your bedroom walls , you might not also need to repaint your closet!
I love the Jogging Path color. I cannot wait to see the finished product!
During your makeover of your closet can you show how to peel back carpet and put down new wood floors
in your closet?
excited for this because this is my next project
For the color I liked the third one starting from the left side
I paint the interior of all my closets SW Super White. It enables me to see the true colors of clothing, shoes, etc. (I was slowly working towards painting the interior of all my vanities and kitchen cabinets Super White when I broke my shoulder. So frustrating! I added a few tap lights and it makes such a difference.) My choice from your swatches would be the creamy white. Something to consider re the covered window = insulation. There's a product similar to styrofoam that would help control some of the Texas heat - and no fiberglass! There's a similar type that has a foil barrier. I presume the depth of the opening is now 2-4". The foam sheets in my area are ½" to 2" thick. ½"x 4' x 8' Owens Corning rated R3 is currently $19.98 at Home Depot. 1" thick is R5 for $29.98. 2" thick is R10 for $62.48. (I would purchase ½" and sandwich as many layers that would fit.) Heat and intense light will cause the alcohol in fragrances to evaporate. Shiplap, beadboard or even lime-washed faux brick paneling might add a bit of texture to the closet although cothing, shoes, hats, etc could be enough. But I am not a fan of hanging/mudding/sanding sheetrock. My first choice would be beadboard paneling, it has a timeless vibe and a simple elegance.
Sorry to hear about your shoulder! Thanks for the advice.
Yes! Another project where I get to vicariously live through you! Thanks for that. The closets in my 60s built home are hobbit holes. We plan on moving soonish and all I want is big girl closets! LoL! Oh and I vote jogging path for color.
Hey Kelsey I love all your ideas and can't wait to for next week to see how your closet turns out ❤
During your makeover can you show how to replace carpet with new wood floors in your closet?
Personally, I would have kept the window. The long wall - left side/long hanging, middle section/double hanging for shorter items, pants & skirts on bottom & shirts on top, right side/from the window sill down, drawers, shelves or short hanging items. The area above, have a counter top and then higher up some narrow shelves, the width of the narrow wall to the left of the window. The back wall, I like what you've planned, shoes, etc. Color - I think a light color would be a better choice to make it feel larger and brighter. And.....treat yourself to new hangers - ditch the plastic ones. I like the flat velour type, they take up less room, clothes stay on better. I've seen them at Dollar Tree for really a inexpensive version.
Hello, another awesome video like always
I would go with the lightest color....the green will be over kill....JMO lol
Hi Kelsey, great work, too bad u didnt go through how you installed the new lights i was hoping to see that bit
Hey there I love your ideas. I hate that you are closing off the natural light of the window. It may be too late but what if you moved the drawers to the end. Then the open area could be where the window is and not block it. Just a thought.
I definitely considered that but I am going to have shelves above the drawers so it would still block it.
Sunlight is actually bad for your clothing (It can cause the colors to fade). It’s so weird that builders even put windows in closets in the first place…
@@MamacitaNatural I love the window in my closet because I open it in nice weather and it keeps everything nice and fresh.
Yes, covering the window was painful for me to watch. I hate that my walkin closets don't have windows. 🤣 But I also have a clothing rack in my bedroom to display my favorite clothes in natural lighting. 😅 It just makes me happy. 🤷♀️
I suggest using a light color. That way you could see any bugs or spiders and remove them.
Good you are getting rid of the window! It was a waste of a window.❤
Nice work! Thank you for sharing this video. I like all of the potential colors you've chosen, but just consider that without the natural light, a lighter color will help you see better. Just my two cents. Whatever you decide, I know it's going to be lovely. Your work is really top notch :) Good luck!
And your makeover can you show how to replace carpet in with some new wood floors in your closet??
Really surprised this closet wasn’t done already. You mentioned budget, so what paint have left? More of a function over style person but now at age where can afford to do style, appreciate the design suggestions
I wish I would have done it a long time ago!
Good call on covering the window. Did you do anything to prevent it from condensation and mold?
Nope I’ll have to look into that.
I don't have a problem with shoes. Purses...that's my downfall! Looking forward to seeing what you do in the closet. Definitely go with a light neutral for color, you don't want any color-cast on the clothes when you're picking out what to wear.
Great video! I like the color that is 2nd from the left…after your bedroom color
Those closet racks came down way too easy. That worry’s me. That’s the kind that’s in my cram packed closet. I really needed to see this. I’ve been trying to talk my husband into a closet system. We have a walk in. I get the long rod when you walk into the closet. He gets the back rod that’s shorter. He doesn’t have as many clothes as me. And he doesn’t care that he has to about break his neck to get through to the back. I would make the closet as light as possible. That way without the window you will only have the top light. It would be too dark to pick out a decent outfit if it’s dark.
Yeah the wire racks aren’t the most stable. My husband and I actually have separate closets. If not, this would have been one of the first projects that I did!
you should have numbered the samples so we could choose i like the linen sort of colour
You’re so handy!
Keep it light . White or cream
I like the bedroom color with white shelves.
I think I like the color you said you used in your living room, but maybe use the one to the right to keep the closet light and to let the colors of your clothing be the focus?
I would love to have natural light in my walk in. Even though I have plenty of light and light colored walls I still have to walk to sunlight to match colors sometimes. Not sure why you want to block a window that can easily be covered with a blackout blind when needed for little cost.
Interesting. I always kept the blinds closed in there so I don’t think I will miss the natural light.
What type of recessed lights did you use
Jogging path👍🏻👍🏻
The lightest color possible.
Are you planning to block the window? Why?
She explained everything in the video.
If it's not already to late, I would have left the window and opted to put the drawers on that side. Just like the inspiration picture.
I couldn't understand how the cables were pulled into the new holes. I wish you could show it in detail. Thank you
I have a video showing way more detail about installing the new lights. It’s part of my kitchen makeover series.
Kelsey your such an amazing carpenter/wood worker you need to invest in a good quality tape measure 😉🇨🇦👍🏼
Yes I do!
Do you have a tutorial on the picture shelves and floating shelves
Yes I have videos on each. They should come up if you search.
10:50 -- very smart.
Something light.
Excellent video honey
I like jogging path.
Off white!
Is your husband handy like yourself or is it you?! In my household I’m the handy one!! Love love it!!
My husband can use tools but I’m always the one to do everything like that because I love it.
@@KelseyRomitoDIY 🩷 yes exactly! My husband can also but he doesn’t get the happiness from it like I do so that’s why I end up wanting & doing everything!!
I think k a light color would help you see better lol
Go with a lighter color, maybe a sage 💚 green...
Don’t go dark. You want your closet to look like a high end boutique. They always have light colored walls so you can see the true color of your clothing.
Good point!
Off white, I think would work nicer.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Off while
I would NEVER take a window out.
Why do builders do the bare minimum with closets?
For real!
