How Nigerian Producer Went From N500 Per Beats To Over 4Billion Streams in 4 Years

Andre Vibez is one of Afrobeats' biggest record producers, responsible for producing some of the biggest African songs ever. From "Calm Down" by Rema featuring Selena Gomez to "Rush" by Ayra Starr and "Feeling" by Ladipoe featuring Bnxn, one would find it difficult to believe that he once charged 500 Naira (25 cents) for his beats. Now, records produced by him have garnered almost 4 billion streams, all these wins achieved in less than five years.
In the third episode of my docuseries "Made By Us," where I feature the stories of young Black and African people doing amazing things, I spoke to Andre Vibez, who told me his come-up story. From being flat broke and homeless to producing 2023's biggest Afrobeats song, and being born to a music legend, Sir Victor Uwaifo, he still had to work hard to create a space for himself in the music industry.
