I hear that. I think it important to cover the whole issue from start to end though. This was recorded last week. Further issues that are important to our audience will be covered in due time. And once we know/understand it enough to speak to it thoroughly.
Unless you are playing in an official event/sanctioned game the bans don't mean anything. Just play whatever cards you want 😂. Commander is a casual and social format. Whatever you and your friends agree is legal is all that matters.
The thing I am bothered by is not being able to play the cards. I used mine in my higher powered decks. I am the guy that bought the dci foiled mana crypt. I’m Keeping it, I sleeved it that day and did get to see it a couple of times
I had no horse in this race I rarely if ever saw them in my local meta I feel bad for the retailers and the people to "lost" 100s of dollars in value I do think the bans over all will be best for the format in the long run though
I dont play at stores. I proxy all my cards. This has no affect on me. But the complete disrespect to the people who for years have spent money on products to attain these cards and then putting pressure on the shops who were selling these cards to players literally the day before the banning, to refund the money, really gets to me.
I've heard this sentiment many times since the ban. Including card buyers and sellers. I've discussed several options that may have been better as far as communication prior to a ban. I'd like to highlight a few on CCOMG content over the next few weeks.
Totally on the same page, Only thing I'd add is with the new FAQs; The way this situation was handled by stewards of a "social" game and the distributors of it. The lack of communication, and the distrust in their own CAG hurts. The inconsistent reasoning about fast mana, fast games, bans and immunity hurts. This is all solved with HONEST pregame talk. A problem is, people lie to win. So the leaders take drastic steps. Bans happen, the nuances with how they were handled are what make this so complicated to navigate. Edit: oh damn... The RC all just quit.
The HONEST pregame talk is an issue all to itself. People may not be strong or experienced enough communicators. They may not be able to express and articulate the subtle nuances of MTG language. They may lie. They may not want to communicate. There's a lot to this particular topic.
Posted this too late! There’s other news out there now…
WAY worse news
What is there now?
WotC is the captain now!

Looks like we are coming around to what I have been advocating for a while: Tiered banned (or pseudo-ban) lists.

I didn't actually expect the ban in Commander.

They brought back the rule zero convo!!! Lol now people can say BTW I play xyz for these reasons.
Your so right, better to reprint then to ban
The cards were too expensive also lol
Cards skyrocketing as WotC takes control of EDH
Which cards?
This past weekend some dude is running Armageddon now 😅 so fuck it
These cards needed to be banned a long time ago it was about time
