I love the vaulted ceilings, beautiful craftsmanship.
It's a special place, and the architecture is honestly breathtaking ๐ค
I have seen a few clips about Iona but why is it I have never heard of this ? Julie you also have a gift when telling the story or history of such places . Thanks .
I guess folk want to.show you the abbey. There is SO much.more to Iona.than that though. Thanks for watching.
I am always fascinated by these places that you visit. We have nothing that can compare with the amazing history of your country. I would so love to see some of these places in person. Thank you so much for these awesome videos. Best wishes!
Scotland is truly ancient. Thanks for watching Cindy.. ....and plenty more to come ๐ค
Just breathtaking, and the sense of peace, even though I am not there in person, can still any troubled waters, where I can find myself in! Thankyou very much. I loved this video! ...old Tich.
The whole island is breathtaking. We are looking to return and spend time round the fairy hills and beaches โฑ xx
I always admire the dedication of people would would devote their lives to a nunnery but wonder of the women who were forced into one in times gone by, not much female empowerment in those days, I would think. Never knew John Smith was buried there and the nunnery itself was fascination to walk around, cheers Alan
Iona is really classed as a daytime for many folk, but there is a WEALTH of history there, I cannae wait to get back!
Beautiful site! Can you imagine living in those stone walls? I bet it was cold there, even with a fire going. I think that when I see the old castles. I can't imagine what winter was like. I read a fun young adult book called 'Catherine called Birdy." it's about a young girl who lived in a castle during the middle ages. She writes in her journal everyday and you get a little peek into life back then. Even though it's a novel, it's still really good. She wondered when the man who kept the fires going in the castle, slept. He was always adding wood to the fires through every room, every day, even at night. Life must have been very hard back then. Even for well to do young ladies from wealthy families, compared to now anyway. I wish I could have been walking through there with you. I would love to see it in person. I guess I kind of got to...for about eight minutes. ;D Thank you for sharing this with us. I really enjoy all the history you add to each video. The music is very nice too. It makes a nice touch. Have a good Monday!
Thanks for watching. I imagine winters on Iona could have been chilly enough! Although, many bodies in a small space would have helped a bit. We don't appreciate how easy we really have it in this day and age ๐ค
Very nice video and informative! Your accent is beautiful. โค๏ธ๐๐ป
Isle of Iona is an amazing and emotive site. I will return.
Thank you - I really enjoyed that! I visited Iona in February 2020, just before the world went into lockdown. It was an aerie experience - and one I will cherish for the rest of my life. Great to see some of the places again and get some historical information โค๏ธ
Iona is quite a special place, I agree! Thanks for watching, and I have a few more on Iona too to watch ๐
I wish I had seen your video before I visited Iona. Loved this history lesson and seeing these places again through new eyes.
Tbh, we will plan another trip soon. Still quite a lot to see, explore, and record. A stunning place ๐
