- In this episode we climb the highest legal off-road trail in Europe in our awesome Villain SX10 X Side by side. At nearly 3000m the Col du Sommelier is the highest motorable trail in Europe and is reached from the small town of Bardonecchia.
My name is Dave and this is the third episode of our epic 8 part, 4000KM Overland family adventure with my fiancee, Maria and our pet dog Taksimo as we travel in our personal Segway Powersports SX10 X Side-by-side off road vehicle chasing the best trails Western Europe has to offer.
In this episode we cross the high Austrian Alps and take in the beautiful alpine scenery.

Hi Christopher! We made it DIY. It is welded steel L beam, it uses Exhaust clamps to attach to the rear tubing and the 2 bolt holes at the top of the roll cage

Hi What tyres was you running on your segway and what are the cooling fans on the inside of the roof . I have the same vehicle and plan to do the same tour as you guys with my mrs , we live on the French side of the border near meribel . Thanks for any advice !
Hi Oliver! The tires are Kenda Congur 30x10 on all four corners. They were the most like a car tire we could get locally to keep the rolling noise down. Even after 5000km they have a decent amount of tread left if you rotate them half way through! The roof fans are just 12v radiator fans off amazon. they can be switched on in traffic to help stay cool as it can get pretty warm. we use a couple of small speed controllers as the fans blow more efficiently at lower speeds. They were a real saver for the dog or he could have overheated in some cases. Sounds like a great plan, the villain is a great long distancer with a little bit of prep. we added a layer of dynamat under the plastic floor and bulkhead and some pipe insulation to the radiator pipes that run under the centre tunnel. If you also get a back window (we just made a solid version with plywood and foam) it really helps with the comfort.

Hi Andrew! Yes we carried an electric compressor and normal rubber tire plugs for tubeless tires. We did not need them on the trip luckily!
Where did you get gas, guys?
we just fill it up as full as possible at the service station in town, the SX10 has a great range on the tank if you drive in a relaxed way!
