@@mrk131324 I enjoy his playing and think he's an exceptional interpreter of Bach, but on this Phillip Glass piece, no one else I have heard comes at all close to Yuja. He's not in the running with her on this one.
I'm playing this piece, too. Listening to the fantastic recording by Vikingur Olafsson I thought: "O.k. he's better than me, but it's a well- written Etude, not more"...Listening to Yuja's rendition live in Aix en Provence I never was more surprised in my musical life. With her incredible soft touch and her accurate playing all repeated notes in exactly the similar pp, she really makes MUSIC of this piece. Not to forget her dynamics and her outbursting power explosions during the chord-sections... Now I have to practise practise practise.
I didn't know a piano could do this. From the rapid repeats on single notes, it sounds like the sustain of a string section. Ande I never even liked Glass before. Well, live and learn. In addition, Yuja now has the body of a a world-class athlete, and she uses it.
I thought I heard orchestra sound in the beginning (someone else said the same thing). Finally witness what I have read about piano that it can imitate any instrument in the orchestra. Yuja's skills to piano is like our fingers to clay -- she can just mold the piano whichever way she wants to produce the perfect sound. Her technique and musicality are just beyond words!

Dear Philip Glass Fans, I've been enjoying playing some of his etudes. Here is No 6 from a live performance in London last year (2022) I hope that you enjoy! ruclips.net/video/2nVj-RlxYvM/видео.html
Nice to listen to it and read to comments and yes, it sure is good but not flawless. I prefer the performance of Maki Namekawa, the pianist Glass wrote this etude for.
Are you serious? ruclips.net/video/dhCluN4ZAKo/видео.html Extremely rough by comparison, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Another very rough version by a top rated pianist: ruclips.net/video/GoGxll7fmYk/видео.html No one is comparable to Yuja.

Yujia is the best pianist in the world. Her repeated notes sound like the sustain of violins. It’s a miracle
No one else that I have heard plays this composition as well.
Vikingur Ólafsson

@@JoeLinux2000 For the Glass Etudes in particular I mean. Did you listen to his album/performance?

For once I completely agree with you. In this study Yuja wang is exceptional.
Right rythm - 2 fingers per note - not slowing down on the chords. The only way to play Glass music.
It may be impossible to equal her no matter how much you practice. She's very exceptional.

A miraculous performance of an unknown masterpiece.
There is little masterful about the piece. Yuma is great.

Uffff, Brillante interpretación. Una de las mejores que escuché de este estudio.
Le sue note ripetute sembrano un solo suono ininterrotto. Eccezionale

Wonderful interpretation. Thank you for sharing x
I've never heard this Glass piano composition but it seems to be write up there with Metamorphosis 1 and Morning Passages, favorites of mine.
Very good performance.

I just don't believe Yuja plays the piano. I think she is a witch and what she is doing with her hands is casting spells upon it.
Particularly when it comes to Phillip Glass.
Even brilliant and exceedingly talented pianists make mistakes. Why would anyone play anything composed by glass?
Yuja is not just another pianist......she is THE pianist. Absolutely adore her!
Maybe because he's great?
Because Glass is a great composer...
Because Glass is a really cool guy. He called me at my office to say happy birthday several years ago.
She's the only one I've heard that makes this piece sound decent. Most others murder it.
