  • I talk about the ideas behind the art for the latest We Lost The Sea album ‘Triumph & Disaster’ to give some further insight into the themes and the direction we took with the album and the children’s book story that goes with it.

It's hard to put into words how much I adore your band and the way that you choose express your creativity through your music (and your art). Thanks for pushing boundaries and telling your stories in an original way. Cheers.

That last panning shot of the art work really made me realize how beautiful this image is. Going back to listen to the album now. I love your art Matt, keep it up!

As far as I'm concerned, both Triumph & Disaster and Departure Songs are the two most impressive and emotional post rock albums I've ever heard.
Also, just curious since I don't think I saw an answer to this anywhere, how did you guys name "We Lost the Sea"? Is there a definitive meaning you contributed to it?
    Anyways, thank you.

What's your interpretation of the band name?

We Lost The Sea I guess the way I took it is that it expresses the distance that’s grown between us and life itself, taking it for granted. The ocean is beautiful and fatal and rhapsodic all together, but those residing in their homes fear the consequences they may face venturing through it. Saying that this pattern of mediocrity has reoccurred so much that we have effectively lost sight of the feats and failures of life, or we lost the sea.
Sorry if it sounds non sequitur, but that’s my interpretation anyway. I’m sure I’m pretty far off, but regardless it’s a very powerful name and I think it’s fantastic.
