Rusty is definitely dead, and was absolutely taken out by Walter. When you finally defeat Snailteus, he screams "One...last...plan!" then dies. It seems almost obvious that the plan he is referring to is the activation of Walter and the IBIS-series AC they found.
It's made very clear based on a prior cutscene that Walter's IBIS AC is the one they found (it's only brief glimpses, but you can pick out the extremely unique and easily recognizable parts). It's also made clear that Walter was captured and didn't escape re-education by Arquebus. His legacy was to ask us to destroy the coral and find our freedom, but the escape plan never included himself. Snail, in his infinitely arrogant self, thinks he can deal with us in the new Balteus, but gets his shit kicked in, and finally decides to use Walter before he dies. Walter arrives on the scene and a mission-weary Rusty gets taken out without a chance to react (likely from a fully charged Coral Rifle beam, but that's up for debate).
It's fine if people have their own head-canon, but I don't see any other theory that is as unambiguous as that.

None the less, I doubt we’ll ever truly know or see a continuation of the liberators route.

    That ending though...
I think Combat mode is the only mode that provides manual control to the pilot. Transit mode is like having a self-driving car where you tell it where to go and sit back, Standard mode is essentially maintenance mode where it slaves controls to an external controller like when the Coral Surge knocked 621 out and Ayre piloted the AC to outside.
I think it might also be something to do with the fact that ACs were built with human proportions because "Humans evolved these forms to fight and survive", and humanity and Coral will be fighting and evolving eachother.
It is heavily suggested that Coral expands to fill the vacuum of space and essentially destroys and recreates the universe in Ayre's vision of how things should be.

Walter's helmet reminds me of a B-17s bombardier bay, large sheets of glass held together by metal beams running along them, along with that is the broken motifs of the design, the angular greys around the 'windows' look like shattered glass. A story that I've heard that kinda feels like it fits here is the Ghost B-17, it goes as such: The year is 1944 and the US daylight bombing campaign is in full swing. one day in November a B-17, clearly crippled by battle damage limps towards the airfield and makes a smooth landing on the runway. (We're talking 3 engines are dead, the rudder is missing, almost all the glass is broken, bent spars, the works.) When paramedics arrive they find the plane empty, no pilots, no gunners, no one, it is believed that the crew bailed and they turned on the autopilot, which due to the lack of power slowly lost altitude until it managed to land safely. I feel like Walter is that B-17 in mech form, no real pilot to speak of, just metal that by luck has survived far longer than it should, just long enough to fight you.

Ok I have been talking about this game with my friends and let me tell you, I have never been this happy to see a mecha game come back. And I can say that this Armored Core game is the most anime out of all of the other games and that is not a bad thing. You got a soild VA cast, most of which may have had some gundam roles or anime roles, the cool fleet attacking mission which mind you you were thinking about Gundam but I was thinking about Zone of the Enders the Second Runner because it also has a mission like that, the big boss fights against things that make me think of mobile armors, Rusty coming out with a cool gundam type of AC, the opera type of songs that may make you think of WFM and the final fight against Bitch Ass Iguazu in a bigger Armored Core. All of these things add up to a soild mecha game experience and the fact that a LOT of people loves Ayre despite her being a voice and every character having more of a personality, makes this game definitely more memorable as a result. Not to mention this game brought out every single mecha fan in the world, including the gundam fans together with the armored core and super robot fans so that is another victory. Hell even I prefer the good ending because it feels like an ending that while we did kill Walter, who by the way love that even HE grew, we did help our brain wife and the world can be rebuilt. The other ending where we kill Ayre still hurts and the true ending, in spite of the idea of Ayre, the brain wife fighting alongside us against Bitch ass Iguazu and his brain wife ALL MIND, being really cool, I don't know the true ending kind of rubs me the wrong way. Plus, the mutilplayer IS pretty weak and some things from the past games don't come back, at least according to the hardcore fanbase. But in the end, I think the game does a great job in bringing us back to a good time where we didn't need every game to be an open world, a game that is fun and a game that brings back a dead genre that even Gundam failed at doing, which is why i HOPE we get more games like this like a new Gundam Breaker game that does not suck, a new Dynatsy warriors gundam, maybe a new Zone of the Enders or even a new Super Robot Wars. And the best part is WE ARE FINALLY GETTING ARMORED CORE MODEL KITS FROM BANDAI! I am already super excited for the release of these next year but still this is a soild game and I will definitely get my hands on it until we get the inevitable DLC expansion that will be this game's version of the old expansions from the old games. Great job with the video and.......Ok seriously this game is also the only one in the series where there is way more fanart when compared to other games and I will be honest, a lot of the fanart is really great and Ayre and ALLMIND fanart......GOD THEY ARE WAY TOO HOT lol! Plus it is cool to see Dimitri being a gundam pilot again since Athrun from the Seed Redub so that is a plus but again, great job with the video!

And since mutated Coral entities like Ayre seems to had their own individuality and not like a hivemind as a whole, it's possible that, if Walter had a "friend" just like us, this individual Coral might actually stood on his and the Overseer's side even if it's against its own race, driven solely by the mutual understanding with its partner.

Walter is definitely augmented like you mentioned, but it probably isn't a coral augmentation. Coral was used on augmentation generations 1-4, and we are up to generation 8. We know that later generations don't use coral because some pilots specifically receive later generation augmentation surgery to reduce the coral-caused side effects (I believe O'Keefe does this, but I don't remember). You don't fix coral burn-in on your brain by receiving more coral-based surgery lol.
The only time Walter is able to see Ayre is in the Liberator of Rubicon ending, when he has been re-educated and put into the IBIS-series AC. Considering how it basically runs on coral and uses coral weapons, it seems like coral-based augmentation would be a prerequisite. That re-education (and by extension, coral augmentation surgery) never happens to him in NG+2, hence why it's a stretch for him to have made contact with coral himself.
      TLDR:
Augmented before the events of the game = likely
Augmented with coral, and able to make contact = unlikely

I think the way the augmentation works is similar to that to Gundam iron-blooded orphans. The Alaya-Vijnana system basically gives the person who has it perfect situational awareness while they're in their Mac. The issue with this system, though, is that there is a high mortality rate because they inject Nano machines directly into your spine this also deforms your spine kind of looks like you have a Spike coming from your back in the only ones who seem to survive our kids be something to do with stem cells I think you could apply the same kind of logic to Coral augmentation though I do think 621 does have a few health issues though like outside the mack you wouldn't need to do much to kill 621 probably one good punch in the face could do it but when he's inside that Mech he turns into the fucking Grim Reaper

The Fires of Raven ending is the best one I think. Not only do you get 3 awesome fights in a row, but from a lore standpoint, Walter and the Overseers were completely right. It doesn't matter that Coral is sentient, it's an existential threat to humanity, and while Liberation is feelgood, ultimately provides no solution beyond a vague "we'll find a way together," not to mention the coming Coral convergence/release event being orchestrated from the shadows by Allmind. The Coral must be burned. It's the only way to be sure. Become history's greatest villain, and in the process humble the warmongering corporations that were no doubt making life miserable for humanity across countless other worlds.

    • @Viseak
      @Viseak  Год назад

I like the thought, but what makes the overseers right at all?
If anything, they’re the most wrong.
What makes anyone think burning the coral will work this time? We already tried it once. Sure; this boom boom is bigger, but there’s every possibility the coral will just survive again, especially when you consider how it multiplies.
Secondly, who’s to say one sentient, and intelligent life is more important than another? Sure, burning ALL the coral (still, unlikely to happen) may be beneficial for humanity (we don’t even know this to be 100% true, symbiosis could be great who bloody knows, it could be this world’s equivalent of newtype powers and allow humanity to connect on a deeper level) but at the end of the day, you’re planning to destroy an entire sentient and intelligent life based on little to no knowledge of it.
And the only knowledge we DO have, is from first hand experience with Ayre, which really, never presented much downside.
So I dunno man with all that being said, feels pretty radical to burn it all to the ground.

The Overseers knew that the Coral would eventually be ignited by something anyway, it's a matter of burning it back before it spreads beyond Rubicon. The longer you wait, the worse the eventual Fires will get; it's inevitable, Coral simply contains too much energy to be safely contained on that scale. This is in addition to the "carnival of horrors" that Coral research wrought even before the Fires, like the horrific early gen augmentation surgeries. And again, Allmind's plan is still in motion in the Liberation ending, and it's clear that Alea Iacta Est is only possible when Raven/Ayre wrest control of the process out of Allmind's hands. What she has planned is probably far, far worse.

Hey Buddy! It's been a while and I'm glad you finally made a video for this game. A little sad your video didn't come out sooner, because by this point, I"ve watched a dozen reviews of the game. haha
I like the Zoids references you made when talking about the first play through. Never even thought about that until you mentioned it. But you're right, I see it now. The parallels are on point.
You probably don't know this since you said you haven't played the other AC games, but the Overed Rail Canon is a reference to Armored Core V's 'Overed Weapons'. That game had a series of special over sized weapons that took a while to charge up, but would guarantee kill whatever target it hit. And by god was it a beautiful moment during the Ice Worm mission, Rusty is calling out the charge up process, gets to 95 and there is a long pause followed by; "I won't miss". The visual spectacle of the canon hitting the worm and the coral bursting out. The sound design of that shot and impact. Top notch.
Walter is a very deep and complex character. I share the opinion of a different RUclipsr about him though. Walter is a man who has dedicated his life to this goal, no, this legacy as he called it. He has taken up the burden of this cause As the story trailer shows, 3 hounds were just lost in that battle to achieve that singular task. I believe Walter is distant and fairly cold to us because he bears the weight of their deaths as his fault. They died for him. Whether those mercenaries cared about Walter or not, they still died for his cause. Walter reminds us at one point that everything here on Rubicon is just a job. Nothing more. But I believe he is using that to cope with the weight of his goal. In reality he knows the path to this goal is drenched in blood and that blood is on his hands. Every time Walter references a 'friend', that is him trying to detach himself from the situation as a way to cope with it. It's never been a friend request, it's been HIS request every time. This is why during the jailbreak mission, Walter starts to say it was from a friend, but then corrects himself and says it was from himself. He's finally ready to open up and be honest and move on so to speak.
And during the fight against him, that ending cut scene where he's about to fire upon you again, but then stops. That scene is more proof of him caring about you. In that moment, he was able to regain his own control and suppress the 'reeducation'. In that moment of free will, he decided that letting you go and live on with the friend you made was more important than finishing his life goal. If he saw you as a mere disposable tool, he would have pulled that trigger immediately.
During my first play through of the game, when I got to the fork in the road of siding with Ayre vs siding with Carla, I was very torn. A lot of people are super obsessed with being loyal to Walter, saying that Walter gave us everything and thus we must give our everything in return. Thing is, I would argue we have ZERO obligations or attachments to him. He woke us from cryo status to do a job. Sure, he gave us a reason to be awake again, but it's not like we had a choice either. So the only reason I would side with Carla is because she just saved my life in that last mission and I owe her for that. Where as on the flip side, Ayre is just a random voice that suddenly appeared and has been talking to me ever since. We don't owe her anything either. We have no reason to feel attached or indebted to her either. Or so I thought. It wasn't until my second play through that I realized Ayre saved us from the coral flow in that final chapter 1 mission. Without her wake-up call, we would have lost ourselves to the coral sea. So realistically, she saved us first. And of course, i'm not exactly interested in setting an entire planet ablaze...
The fight against Walter was emotional, but it felt rushed. That entire ending felt incomplete. And really, the 3rd ending is just a more expanded version of that ending.
The fight against Ayre was painful. I found her to be the hardest boss fight in the game. And when you consider the cause she is fighting for, you can't help but feel like a total scum bag fighting her. I will say however, her battle theme; "Cries of Coral" is the best track in this game. Followed by Rusty's theme.
Ah yes, Escort the STRIDER was the hardest non boss mission. I didn't realize for the longest time, that the Grinder Wheel enemies and the other machines in this mission are VERY vulnerable to explosions. The hand missiles 2 shot the first mechs and do wonders against the wheels as well. A bulky reverse joint build with 4 different missile weapons is how I did it actually.
So the third ending is actually very interesting. I've watched a lot of RUclipsrs play this game and they all felt surprised by Iguazu playing such a key role to the end. They didn't understand and only saw him as a thirsty hater. I COULD give a long multi-paragraph explanation on why Iguazu is a big deal and a complex character actually, but a video titled; "The Tragedy of G5 Iguazu - AC6 Story and Lore" by the RUclipsr Absurd goes over this topic perfectly. I HIGHTLY recommend you watch it.
As for the final ending scene... it would appear that 621 is no longer human. No longer has a human body. How is it that we wake up in a different AC all of a sudden? And on a different planet too. We must have been swept away by the coral flow and are now a wave length like Ayre is.
It's pretty clear based on how well this game did, that we will get a sequel that continues this story arc. I have a plethora of theories on where things go, but I'll save that for another time since this comment is already super long.

      Hey!
I wish I could’ve gotten the video out sooner, but I was a little preoccupied haha
I happened to get married the day after the release of AC6, so I couldn’t even play it let alone write a script on it for AGES 😅 (there was a cut segment of the video where I mentioned this and made a little joke out of it but it felt out of place by the end lol)
There’s so many parallels to Zoids and many other mecha franchises shoved into this game, it really is like a love letter to mecha as a genre. Even Ayre in a way reminds me of Fiona haha
But yeah the ice worm battle is *chefs kiss*. I’m keen to get into the other AC games eventually. I saw a copy of AC4FA in Japan but didn’t pick it up, kinda regretting it cause I feel like I’ve got a slim chance of finding any locally. To be honest, I’ve never even seen an AC game on shelves here in Australia my entire life, excluding VI that is.
The way you describe Walter reminds me a lot of Prospera from Gundam WFM, which is a really interesting lens to look at him through.
I agree the most likely scenario is his detachment and his friends wishes simply being an extension of his own, but it is pretty interesting to theorise if he achieved symbiosis, and just had a real rouge coral feeding into his and his past friends wishes.
The choice between Ayre and Walters wishes is definitely a hard one. And the more you boil it down the less of a ‘right’ answer there is, but I tend to agree siding with Ayre *feels* like the better option.
I don’t agree that LOR felt rushed though. Although, it did feel like the most convenient anime plot out of them all. BUT I honestly loved that. Made it feel like I just played through my own little Gundam story. Fighting alongside Rusty in the end and fighting your old boss on a ship descending to the planet it was beautiful.
Whereas the others didn’t feel quite so cinematic, to me at least. But man they were so much fun regardless. FOR had the better mission with Breach The Karman line and a crazy ending none the less, and the true ending was just completely different again and balls to the wall action.
I have actually watched that video! And it’s a great study on Iguazu as a character. There’s already SO much fantastic content out on AC6 it almost felt redundant for me to talk about it, but when it easily became one of my favourite games of all time I just had too 😅
Regarding the ending scene, I don’t think WE(621) actually wake up in a different AC in a random place. The way I see the final cutscene is a voiceover, and we’re just seeing a random place in the galaxy where wrecked AC’s are waking up and inhabited by coral. Which is why I also don’t TEND to buy into the whole transcending humanity theory.
Like I saw people saying 621 could transfer their consciousness into any other AC like a hive mind kind of thing so they’re immortal but uhhhhh, I just don’t see it idk 😅
I’d be keen to hear your thoughts though!

My personal mental image of 621: They're a goddamned transhumanist's nightmare. Their arms and legs were amputated at the shoulders and hips, and replaced with basic cybernetics,as a way to combat the effects of G-forces on the body. Their spine is either augmented with a cybernetic interface,or is wholly replaced with a cybernetic prosthesis, with the purpose of speeding up their central nervous system, and to more directly interface with the AC. They have no eyes; Instead,a panoramic visor is directly wired into their optical nerves, and potentially even networked with external cameras on the AC. And the leftover meat is a nightmarish map of surgical scars, all wrapped up in bandages, and clad in something like a combination of a real world G-suit,and an Evangelion plugsuit.
This would render 621 *technically* functional outside of the AC,permitting them to seemingly stagger or crawl towards the Jailbreak, and make them, arguably, the ideal h+ pilot, due to how their augmentations optimized them for the purpose of piloting a supersonic close-in land/air war machine.

Specifically yugioh Zexal where the protag has a ghost like partner named "astral" that he basically bonds with. Other than that, no other main yugioh things, but that just makes me think more about the psychological damage that runs rampant on Rubicon. Everyone just trying to survive by any means (dosers, corporations, and even the PCA)

    • @Viseak
      @Viseak  Год назад +1

I think there’s a real connection between AC6 and Gundam in the form of newtypes.
Everyone considers newtypes the next step in human evolution, and in spite of that, everyone’s scared of them.
The same can be said for coral. While many don’t understand or know the idea of symbiosis and are just scared of it cause it can go boom, the idea of coral symbiosis being the next step in human evolution is a real one.
And clearly something people like V3 O’kefe fear, thinking it’ll make humanity less human. But he obviously fears something he doesn’t fully understand and has never experienced. Whereas us, as 621, have experienced it, which leads us down the path of coral release.
There is another, thumb dolmayan, who did experience symbiosis and reject it, but at that same time he held no ill will towards Seria.
Maybe coral symbiosis would allow humans to understand eachother on a deeper level like newtypes do, who knows, as the endings left so open ended, and there really is so much we don’t know.
But we can only hope for a sequel at this point.

walter's friend is the guy in the trailer/intro that is messing with us, walter enters the room, and tells that person to wake us up, given what that person says, "you know im not exactly craving company", and walter replies: "im not here to talk." they probably know each other.
walter says it himself in one of his monologues to 621, that he has an actual friend, a person, that created things, those things being, what we, 621, are, coral augmentation, and a few other unwanted "research topics" that walter seems to resent, but i think i remember he said its a necessity.
which also makes me think there are 2 kinds of augmentation, Coral augmentation, and whatever the corporations do to their own pilots, given that there's generations for us hounds, 1 to 4. it also seems we're not a new boy being reawakened on the spot. most people call us "ancient" and tell us we belong in a museum, because our augmentation method is archaic. also, not every augmented human gets to interact with coral, only old gens, newer generations and probably the cutting edge augmentations do not make contact with coral, now that could be because they abandoned coral augmentation as a whole and have their own new methods, or they suppress it somehow, this is why i believe there's 2 kinds of augmentation, coral, and the cutting edge new augmentation tech made by corpos that do not use coral.
also i think 621 has been held sleeping or in suspended animation, somehow... for quite awhile. which makes me more interested about our own possible back story, have always been proficient at Ac piloting? what has destroyed our brain enough to walter make a remark about it, i dont think we're a dissected brain inside the AC, but one thing im sure, 621's body is definitely damaged, in the permanent sense. which is also funny but plausible, in previous AC games having catastrophic body damage doesnt make you incapable of piloting, as an example in Armored Core Verdict Day, Maggy... or Magnolia Curtis, lost her whole left arm, and still is capable of piloting, they never mention she possessing prosthetics or anything, so i assume, she has some form of adapted control scheme for her situation.
i dont enjoy the notion that we're a vegetable inside the AC, and honestly doesnt make much sense either, but i think 621 definitely relies on some form of life support... and definitely near or straight on the bottom list of "most charming" on the Rubicon popularity pool. i honestly wish we could've interacted with other Hounds if they survived, for example, 617 and the others, hell... may be even other new ones, just to have an average measure gauge for how messed up mentally and physically Hounds are in general, or if we're somewhat just... hurt? people that have been patched up back together and work for Walter and his Doctor friend.
oh and yes, about Walter and his friend, in his monologue, Walter is the guy that wants to burn the coral to prevent people from missusing it, but overall because he fears the danger it is in general, and his friend is the guy that used coral to create gruesome experiments. probably what Arquebus did to Walter. i honestly.... wouldnt be surprised if it turned out that Walter's friend joined Arquebus and did that to him himself.. as a form of punishment for failling?.... given how twisted Armored Core gets at times, and fromsoftware's very dark stories.

Allmind being Domlayan's Seria doesnt make much sense to me. If only because Seria wasnt actually against the exploitation of coral by Domlayan so long as it keeps them in Contact. Domlayan has log in which he says that if he were her, he would not allow him to take coral as a drug, consuming her people in order to stay in Contact.
Seria's goal was coral release, but she did not seem to have strong feelings about humans using coral to maintain contact in that form.
However if Allmind really is an AI as I believe, that still doesnt answer where she came from and who built her. She seems to die once her AC form is destroyed from what we can tell, which suggests that she isnt remote controlling the AC. She is instead literally the AC. Which helps explain why she is so hell bent on collecting as much data on AC models and performances as she can. So she can perfect her own systems.

    • @Viseak
      @Viseak  Год назад +2

      There’s a couple of things:
      First:
Seria, or in my theory, Allmind, may have developed that resentment/hatred for the exploitation of coral in between their transition from the coral Seria, to the ‘AI’ Allmind. Which could go to explain why Seria made this AI alter ego to commit to her goal of coral release.
      Second:
I believe a coral being was necessary for Coral release, (kinda like how a human is needed to activate the rings in Halo) which is why Ayre was seen as instrumental to the plan, and why 621 was ultimately the one chosen by Allmind to go ahead.
However, not only was coral required, I think there’s a chance a coral being who *achieved symbiosis* was actually what was required. This would explain why 621 and Ayre were needed up until the very end. And in the end; I believe Allmind and Iguazu achieved a form of symbiosis that allowed *her* to be the trigger for coral release, leaving Ayre and 621 redundant. Which is why after letting us in on all her secrets and gaining our help and trust throughout the whole route, turns on us in the end. The fact her mind is probably somewhat corrupted by Iguazu’s thoughts also probably plays a part in this.
But again, she wouldn’t have joined with Iguazu if she didn’t know she could achieve coral release with him.
      Hopefully that makes sense

I think the only "not amazing" thing about AC6 is the part variety, and by that I mean visually. Lots of normal bipeds while not much else. 2 quads, 3 tanks, and 3 RJ's, and then the rest are just bipeds. I also think there needs to be more variety visually in the head and core parts, a lot of them just kind of blend together. I'd love to see more unique cores and head parts, especially more in the same sort of style as the older PS2 games. There's some similar designs to older parts already in the game, but I just want more.
Also, you can beat every mission in the game with any build. Its just a matter of knowing said build well enough to do so. My own personal build for the game was a Gatling gun, pile bunker, dual 10-missile launchers, and later swapping one of the launcher for the moonlight. I don't know if you could S rank every mission with it, but it was the build that I used for my initial playthrough of all 3 endings.

ehh, this wasn't the only closest thing you get to a gundam space battle. Zone of the Enders 2 (by Hideo Kojima. Yes, that Kojima - in fact my avatar on here is of your mech, Jehuty, from the game) in 2003 had full flight combat like this throughout the entire game. By the end of the game your mecha can literally teleport and that''s the kind of battle you have with the antagonist. ZoE2 also had a fleet battle in the skies (and required a massive wave motion cannon to destroy them.) ZoE was much more fast and loose with more anmie physics than the much more strict/grounded combat in AC.
I'm not taking anything away from AC6, but check out Zone of the Enders 2 (there were multiple HD remakes, including one that also added VR called Zone of the Enders: Mars) for full on anmie mecha combat - it focuses heavily on melee where you actually clash swords.

One thing I will say to Armored Core, and in particular, AC6’s credit. Is that the mech’s feel fluid as hell to pilot, BUT, they also feel really weighty, as they should.
Which isn’t something I got from ACFA (recently streamed my first run of it), that game was very fast paced which is cool, but I think the Nexts lost that weighty mecha feel because of it, so I wonder if ZoE has that same problem?

Another age is a little bit long but it's worth it in my opinion I love it it was my first game armored core is the series that got me into playing video games ! Blows my mind how many people I actually told forever and either refused to play it because it was a "robot" game or it was inconvenient for them in order to purchase from themselves or emulate it

This is legitimately the most gundam game in existence, and it isn’t even a gundam game which is fucking wild. The game is hard but I think the thing the critics are having problems with is that the game requires you to engage with it as a brutal, balls to the wall super fast game. They expect souls for some stupid reason and this game isn’t gonna give it to them.

It’s probably the closest thing to a perfect Gundam game we’re ever gonna get, and yeah, it isn’t even a Gundam game.
But it’s just THAT good as a mecha title. It’s everything I wanted and more.
It really is fast paced though, so much so everything I’ve played since feels awfully slow.

I feel like there should’ve been more detailed introductions to all the characters and groups to give an idea to anyone watching who hasn’t played AC6 of what their purpose in the story is, and although the boss introductions looked pretty cool it would’ve been nice if they didn’t last so long and showed the actual cutscene that’s on screen, otherwise great review

Cheers mate, I wanted to leave a little something to the imagination for those that haven’t played, and for those that have, they’ve seen and know all that good stuff already so I didn’t think it mattered too much 😅

Its first level is a masterclass on how not to make a "tutorial". "It's a FromSoftware game" isn't an excuse for poor game design. The gameplay after the first mission is actually really fun but it looks bad when the latest hotwheels game on switch teaches the player how to play the game and then implements those mechanics excactly the way they explained them. AC6 on the other hand has a boss that goes out of bounds often and the only weapon you can have to hit it does virtually no damage and 0 signs that the player should rush it in melee when the only other melee prompt is near 2 mini mechs minutes before which are both on the ground.

At first I read your comment as ‘a masterclass on how to make a tutorial’ and was gonna completely agree 😭
Turns out you think the opposite and I’m so curious why? I think AC6 is one of fromsofts best ‘tutorials’. It gives you everything you need to know, and lets you go nuts with it. It doesn’t completely dismiss the player like some souls games does, but it also doesn’t hold the players hand as if they’re incompetent.
It’s a near perfect balance of guardrails and freedom that propels you into your mecha journey.
I don’t understand how there are ‘0 signs’ the player should rush in and melee… it’s just like you said, the weapon you have doesn’t do much damage, so clearly, it’s pretty self explanatory for you to try hitting the boss in the face with your melee weapon, as it’s your only other option.
