@@veteran5937you are wrong, in fact places like Plav, Rozhaje were Albanian places. This region is probably even the birthplace of Albanians, as the Illyrians moved southwards and hide in the mountainous region known as accursed mountains when Slavs came to the Balkans. A small percentage survived this without getting assimilated and are known as Albanians today.

@@fatmiramino9673 I will return to those amazing places. The people were great and the raw materials for the food great, however, most of the food that I tasted was in best case scenario just OK. That’s why I choose to eat fresh vegetables, absolutely fantastic butter, meat and some jams and honey. And actually I we had food poisoning from not properly cooked chicken. So, next time I will search for good food. ;)
Thank you for showing our beautiful country. I just returned from five weeks-long vacation in Albania and Greece. I visited the northern Albanian Alps - great people, great food, exellent air and beautiful nature. Loved to see Shkoder and the new roads up the mountains. Tirane is always changing, modern and noisy; a powerhouse nonetheless. We dined in Dajti mountain restaurants, Surrel, and Shengjergj; great food, good people. Durres, Berat, Gjirokaster, Pogradec and Vlore. The beach at Zvernec was great for the kids, sandy and warm shallow water; while Jale, Dhermi, Himare, and Borsh were rocky with clear water. After that we visited Ioannina (GR), Patra, and Athens. Acropolis is always the main attraction point. Next time will do Thessaloniki and Macedonia, Vergina and Pella, also plan to go to Meteora. Could not do everything in one trip.

Excellent raw materials, however the final result was below my expectation. Next time I will search more for better food. Now about Athens, it is true as you wrote that Acropolis is the main attraction point, so it is unbearable for me… Especially during summer months. @@efthimilazarou4197 Thanks. Yes about the food and services in Albania... raw materials are good... I saw herds of sheep around and the restaurant where we ate received slaughter lambs... I prefer not to see that stuff... seeing blood might turn me into temporary vegetarian (LOL). But presentation and services lack class... of course, cannot compare Albanian tourism industry with the Greek and/or Italian counterpart; Albanians did not have food to survive until just a few years ago... now everybody is rushing to work in tourism industry; that rush damages chances to do thigs right. Albania need serious efforts in building its infrastructure that is still very behind other countries in Europe. Personally, I would prefer the "natural" tourism, especially for the hinterlands. The beaches have become a big attraction for corrupt politicians and other dark elements of the society to grab land and develop concrete appartments and resorts by the sea. Prices were very high. I ate at a beachfront restaurant at Pachi, not far from Athens, the food was exellent and abundant, and it did not cost more than it cost in Albania. My hope as an Albanian ex-pat is to see my home country catch up with the rest of Europe in all directions. Albania has done well compared to 1991 when our people poured massively into Greece; the good and the bad. Those pictures from 1991 are ingraved into my memory, a nation starved and deprived of anything civil, of anything human; the deprivation was not only ideological, it was in food, housing, education/behavior, trust; an entire nation was starved, locked in 28k sqkm open labor camp, brainwashed by communist ideology, taught to have no mercy, no pitty, no regretts, no shame, no faith, no god; comparatively to North Korea of today, but worse. As an Albanian I am proud that our people survived assimilation of great cultures around us, ancient Greek civilization, Rome; the Slavic migration; the Ottoman rule, and finally the communist plague. All we have left is, the blood and the language. A nation that was put to the brink of extinction several times; the nation survived, but we all know that the quality of a nation, of a people, fighting for survival is not classy, is not refined; the qualities of a nation that lives on survival mode is crude, and it needs time to perfect its comport/behavior. Lord Byron on the way to help the Greek revolution, said about Albanians that they have vices but no meaneness; they are brave, honest and faithful, but they are cruel although not tracherous. Some of these vices we have done worse since Byron, and some good behaviours we have lost due to communist brainwashing. Be well my friend.

πανεμορφα μερη. ευτυχως στα βουνα βρισκεις λιγη ησυχια γιατι σε οποιοσηποτε παραλιακο μερος αποκλειεται απ' ο,τι φαινεται, ακομα και στις λιμνες... κριμα να καταστρεψουν τις θαλλασσες και τις λιμνες οπως σε πολλα μερη στην ελλαδα με ομπρελες και ξαπλωστρες μεχρι οπου φτανει το ματι.

Only the hotels will have their sunbeds and even them according to the number of people they hold. Next year, no more invasion of the beaches and crazy prices.......new rules.
