    Amazing insight! I've always commited that error of overplaying a good youth player.
    I once had a 15 year old regen that was so good and had so much potential that I promoted him to the senior team. He played 20 minutes every game and full cup games. However, once he hit 17 years old he started to slow down and eventually his potential faded away. It amazed me. Now I just leave them between the teams until they are 18 and 100% ready for the first team

    If you take over the general training for u18s and set up your own schedule and you can mentor u18s without moving them to senior squad by signing "emergency backup" mentors to move into u18s. I brought back Tom Cleverey, Jonny Evans and Falcao to United for this reason

    I made that mistake with this youth player that came through the intake. He was quite possibly the best ever player to come in any youth take I have ever had on any version. His starting attributes were amazing at 15, like top10 striker in the prem level. SO naturally I got a bit excited and promoted him to the first team straight away as I couldn't believe just how good he was at 15, with the right development he would be at least at haalands level within 2 or 3 years.
    But I haven't developed him properly and stunted his growth by way over playing him. Now don't get me wrong, he is scoring goals for fun still, he will likely break Rooney's(I'm United) goal record before he's 25 or be very close, but he shouldbe way better than he is by now.
    Since he came through I have had other potentially even better forwards come through and these ones I am developing properly. In 3 or 4 seasons I am going to have a ridiculous attack

    A fun thing I've been trying as of late is to play as a "development" club for my lower league save. I take rejects with good potential that get released for not developing. Also a lot of loans that are likely to stay for more than a season as they develop fast. For my rejects I set up veteran mentors and give them playing time in the youth B group where no matter how bad their consistency is they are still going to gain morale for beating on gray token players. Very often youth have confidence issues and poor pressure handling so telling them a lot you believe in them despite all the mistakes they're making pays off. The green arrows start popping up after half a season or more. Friendlies still give "higher level" match experience so I use that before they get to play even 20 minutes for the first team. My first team coaches are youth team coaches and all have good youngster handling stats, so the under 18s aren't losing out training with the first team while mentored.
    My under 19s team is essentially the rubbish bin for those that turned out to have lower potential than they did at first. If they are costing me wages they'll be loaned out quickly to anywhere in the world for their full wage.
    So far I have had one player become a star player in a season and two that became important players. The rest are going to be ready for the first team next year.

    If you're happy with your head of youth development keep him. Have spend big money and wages on top hoyd and got nothing coming through the ranks. What about hoyd scouting knowledge of the country he working in? Does that affect intakes? Any disadvantages to adding youth players to senior squad training unit's and is it a problem to add too many? What to do with b team's? Often found myself with more staff than players, so now I only hire manager, his assistant and physio. any chance of a video on attacking midfielders role? Often though I was getting Madonna but usually underwhelmed by their performance. I enjoyed the video, thanks for doing it

    Great video. I'm doing a youth development save with League One Burton Albion. Elite facilities (use national team facilities) but terrible youth coaching and recruitment. Signing/developing only English players and staff.

    i tried to make my 2nd team play using my 1st team tactic but somehow i followed ur steps and set my tactic as primary tactic for 2nd team. but when i check after i confirm, it is still greyed out and only the 2nd team manager's fav formation is used in matches. could that have something to do with my 2nd team being only part time? youth team works like your video though

    Hi Daljit, why do you have 2 Match Practice session back to back in your Youth Training?, what is the benefits of that approach? - I figured it would only be beneficial if Tactical Familiarity and Cohesion was low?....thanks!

    • @sld1776
      @sld1776 2 месяца назад +1

      Match Practice is the most cost-effective training session in FM. In addition, it trains the attributes highlighted in the role you are training them.
      So, for example, if you want to develop the tackling and stamina of your defensive midfielder, you train him as a ball-winning midfielder in defense. Those attributes will be train hard during the Match Practice session.

    Good video. From what I've been lead to understand, match preparation isn't important for youth development. I've seen a lot of content creators saying this. More just general training is the most beneficial way forward for youth development. Do you have a take on this as I've noticed you put a few match prep sessions each week in for your youth?

    • @BusttheNet
      @BusttheNet  Год назад +1

      Match prep still works on Roles, at most I only use one.

    Hey Daljit! Question - how useful is the B team for development? I find it saves a lot of time working out loans for players if B team plays at a decent level eg Jong Ajax / Benfica B, but unsure of its actual viability for improving young players.

    • @BusttheNet
      @BusttheNet  Год назад +1

      Some B teams like you mentioned are in viable competitions others aren’t. So if the level of competition is decent then it’s still better than going on loan to a sub-par team

    • @AirdrieOviedo77
      @AirdrieOviedo77 Год назад

      Finding this year that loan offers are coming in with “fringe player” status at the most, its very difficult to farm good development loans on this seasons game.

    • @Sasquatch10
      @Sasquatch10 11 месяцев назад

      @@BusttheNet Is it possible to use a different formation for a B team too? I was trying to do it with Barca B but it kept going back to the default formation, then i tried it with the u19's and it worked fine.

    • @googleforcedhandle
      @googleforcedhandle 9 месяцев назад

      not as good as an actual loan, because B clubs (just like reserves) get a straight up development penalty for your players, no matter the level they play at. Still much better than dumping them in the reserves, but you should ALWAYS try to loan them
