    That hand motion is soooo clean. Even at 120 bpm, it was clean like it was sanitized.
    Gonna go and try this on my inferior, single-sided, one surface practice pad :P

    There's nothing like getting nowhere for like 10 years trying to follow all the "thumb on top" metal videos, then reading The Music Lesson by Victor Wooten causing me to abandon pad practice, & flipping that kit completely lefty & forcing my left hand to progress the way my right did. I put my thumb completely on the side & went for cymbals as much as possible to correct my dynamic grip pressure. It took 6 months to get past what 10 years of practice & playing with thumb on top could not do.

    Great lesson! After playing for decades I find that when you play L hand lead and/or open handed especially accenting the shoulder of the L hand stick on the bell or edge of hi hat on groves or through a song; if you can dedicate certain amount of time each day, it will blow you away how your weaker had comes around. Case and point if you never played left hand lead and you just start to accent the bell on your L side cymbal lol you'll see what I mean by how week your L hand is... Peace

    Hey Mike, I love your channel! I've heard different answers to this question but I figured I'd ask you. Do thin cymbals crack easier, or do heavier cymbals crack easier?

    • @mikeslessons
      @mikeslessons  3 месяца назад +4

      Hey Ben, that's a great question. The answer isn't in the cymbal as much as it's in the drummer. If a heavy drummer with great technique is playing then the thin cymbals will last longer as far as cracks go because the flex a bit more. That being said, they might tend to bend/warp. So they don't crack as easy, but they can get a tad disfiquerd. The thick cymbals rarely get bent, but they just give into the abuse and crack. If the drummer plays super hand and has poor technique, then my advice is to get a sh*t ton of used Sabian B8's because your gonna be going through them like tinfoil anyway, lol. The lesson here is swipe the cymbal and it will last MUCH longer! Hope that helps.

    • @ben_curry
      @ben_curry 3 месяца назад +2

      @@mikeslessons Thanks Mike for the help. I've been working on swiping the cymbals instead of chopping at them because I know I am a heavy drummer.

    Well I should have keep my first account from 2008, it seem that your most popular video with 1.7 millions views goes back to 17 years ago, but the 247k subscribers is something almost impossible to reach for any drummer out there. Even legendary drummer like Weckl doesn't have that number, he is at 120k subscribers. Which is very hard to understand in my perspective.
