This is what I used to play DW for, even Lu Bu is not above that desperate thrill when you got low life and your opponent decides to randomly charge a second for full HP, then you target his top generals in the hopes of some life while unleashing every single Musuo that recharges due to your low life, then in the middle of it all BOMF! A double damage upgrade! YES but oh no another general! Also your life is low! So you run somehow gasping for air looking for some meatbuns Damn man, DW8 is not a bad game, but compared to this one, it is absolutely nothing, this felt like real warfare at the comfort of your couch, when you won it was not because you randomly mashed the attack buttons 7000 times, it was because you freaking earned it!
The AI in this game still hasn’t been outmatched. It was so ahead of its times. Useful allies and strong enemies. And once your allies had stopped fighting in on area they would actually move onto the next with you.
That was the reason I mained Liu Bei in this game, his was one of the first Musuo that focused on a single general, also "FOR HIS BROOOTHEEERS!" Then they turned him into a weird peasant with a cheesy voice, no thanks Koei :(
3-5 were the peak of DW imho. 2 was good, but the notorious difficulty mixed with its shortcomings made the game harder than it should have been; its still a classic nonetheless though. 3 and 4 are my favorite
Its the best, real fast paced action rather than the new ones, where if you turn off the rock music it feels like you are "playing" slow motion ballett

Best game ever but I never played it. I played the fifth game of the Dynasty Warriors franchise on a XBOX.
