Super good reminder that technology is not everything! I just went out on the St Louis River, rough fishing day, but I definitely learned that tech does not catch the fish, people do!
Fished that “other” river system 3 days in a row this last week pulling that smallest Shad dancer on lead core. Around a small area with bait balls everywhere. Last 3 hours of daylight were by far some of the best walleye fishing I’ve ever had. Every pass over a small 100yard area was a nice fish!! Ended up only using one rod it was so insane. Love the aggressive river fish! Plus the bonus catfish that gets your heart racing thinking it’s a 30” walleye only to mangle your $8 crank baits. 🤣
I enjoy watching and learning from the videos that you make. I’m just learning river fishing, especially the Mississippi. I appreciate your advice and tips. Thank you and tight lines!
I am a 70 yr-old river-rat; though I do not fish like I used to. I agree that current is super important. Actively feeding walleyes, IMO, always enter into or very near faster current. I have found that "holes" are not that productive unless you fish the upper part of the hole near faster water. Current is key. IMO, current gives walleyes a huge advantage to catch prey, and that is why they feed there. I forgot to add that faster current obviously means relatively shallow water; I have caught most river walleyes in 2 to 4 feet of water.
I lived on millelacs lake for 14 years, last November I moved closer to my grandkids, and now I live on the Mississippi near Clearwater mn, I’m hoping to learn more about where the walleye hang out on the river. Great video!!
The current is the structure in most rivers….yes you have rocks and timber in the river it’s the current that dictates where the fish are!! Great vid!! Good luck and tight lines to all
Hey Tom, I would absolutely enjoy a deer video from your production. I reside in the thumb of Michigan and last winter lived vicariously through your fishing videos, as we had no ice to speak of. Hoping for hard water this time around though. Your productions are top notch to me.
Finally some river content. Now i gotta get my waders back on and head back out and try working my bait like you do. Ive been giving tiny little pops since i seem to only catch em like that, but i gotta get back out there and work that damn bait lol.
Thanks Tom! Love the content. Used to live in Iowa and would always take my summer vacation on the Mississippi around Prairie du Chien or La Crosse. Great River!!
I would love to watch a video of you fishing the Rainy River! I have been searching your fall walleye content to learn as much as I can, this panfisherman is going on a walleye trip to the Rainy River in October and I can't wait!
Dude!! I asked for a flowage video and you serve up pure gold!!! It was amazing to hear you verbalize almost everything I think through when I'm on the water. I would absolutely enjoy a day fishing with you. I think it's funny that the Columbia river in Oregon/Washington never make the list. We have just as good of fishing as what you just did with the opportunity for a trophy class!...( 31inches 12lbs is my pb)
Great content, Tom. Low river flow definitely affects where the walleyes are. Here in central Wisco the last two months have definitely slowed down the walleye bite.
Nice video Tom ! New video style is much better . Make sure you come down and fish it open water in the winter . I love fishing the river in January where everyone else is ice fishing
Sighting in my Mathews this week, getting canopy off lift, getting boat on trailer to explore more lakes! Thanks for your info Tom! Even a blind squirrel can be successful sometimes 😄
In Wisconsin now raining. I will definitely keep in mind what you said about water flow. I'm going to be using swim baits. You are more aggressive than I normally am. Learned something from your video. Thanks
Tom, I was wondering what pool this was? I normally go to pool 9. It’s been tough the last few times. Thanks for explaining wing dams in an easy to understand manner. I have never really been able to figure out how to fish them well. Going to try again in October. Btw, girls fish too. 😊. Keep up the fantastic educational content.
You and the Shelbster out hunting! That would be cool! You guys could be like Chris Bee and Kaitlyn Moss. Don't know if you know them. Cool hunting couple.
Hey Tom, great video! I love fishing pool 2. Awesome Apex!! Ever consider doing some capture over hdmi with it? You're videos are great and some more screen time would make them even better!!
Another Great Video Tom! Yeah, please take us with to do some whitetail hunting. Just shoot the first one you see and get back to fishing and it’ll be fine. Maybe the “chicken farmer” can put you in a good stand.
More great comment Tom! Keep it coming! What mount do you use for the forward facing sonar? Just kidding...l just wanted to be "that guy" that asked this time. haha
I have to say I liked your videos before the forward facing sonar, Before it was more of the fish habitat and now its more of a video game. I know ya work hard making the videos and you were by far my favorite walleye fisherman.
I’m a fisherman and bowhunter myself. However, a man that makes a living in front of a camera, needs a break from the camera sometimes. Wouldn’t mind seeing some hunting videos, but that’s a lot more of a personal decision. Love my river fishing. Barely fish lakes anymore for any fish species. Love the videos!
A stick of dynamite goes a long way above those wing dams. Don't throw upstream especially on windy days. Instead throw down stream from the back of the boat so the current can drift the stick away from your boat and out of harms way. After the water blows quickly head downstream and collect and go. Works like a charm.
Wastewater treatment plants don't remove pharmaceuticals from the water. These chemicals are now being found in river fish. I wouldn't suggest consumption.
Tom, love the videos keep them coming. I do have a question. When are you going to embrace the dark side and come visit Michigan? I can imagine it has something to do with that big lake in the way. We're jonesing for you to come over. On behalf of Michigan we'll treat you like a king buddy. Be safe out there.
Hi Tom I have been watching you for last 3 or more years.I am a walleye now app subscriber and have been learning lots from you. I have been wanting to invite you to come down to the St Clair and fish with me. End of October into November and December is really good usually . Its a deep fast water river , depth range as deep as 70' I fish at the mouth of the river in Lake Huron at times we can catch 50+ fish a day on good days. It would be nice to learn from you in this high current situation we have here. 1.5-2.1 mph current dependant on wind direction in Lake Huron. Check it out and see what you think. I think it would be a great challenge for you to learn lots and for me as well. Thanks for all you do Tom your the best Lorne Font
I had just watched a tribute to the Griz and maybe you have seen him down there he is the very definition of river rat so it was nice to see you tip your hat. Makes me think maybe you need a nick name. If you grow your beard and hair longer we could call you the Griz Jr.??
Super good reminder that technology is not everything! I just went out on the St Louis River, rough fishing day, but I definitely learned that tech does not catch the fish, people do!
Great river video tom! You make look easy even on a challenging day. Always educational, keep em comin....hooked up!
You're welcome Tom, and thank you for the education you provide for all of us. Been here for years and i have learned a lot on the journey.

Agree 💯!
I watched many of your videos. Since you fish solo so often, I love to see "your system" of deploying and landing your boat. Rivers[current]&lakes.
Great video Tom !! We were just up in that area 2 weeks ago and the wife got a 28 1/2” walleye 8#. It’s definitely Gods country up there 👍👍
Thank you Tom for your huge variety of videos. I’ve learned a lot from you over the years. 👍👍
Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!

Absolutely,.. current is everything
Here in quad cities, we got some power house outshoots that have a lot of current that have been 🔥 all summer with the low waters!!!

Hey Tom, how about a trip to the Detroit or St Clair River systems? I’d love to see how you’d approach fishing them.
great river video. I live on the Mississippi River in Illinois and love the walleye context for the river.
Thanks Tom! Love the content. Used to live in Iowa and would always take my summer vacation on the Mississippi around Prairie du Chien or
La Crosse. Great River!!

Currently looking at houses in SD. What’s wrong with Oahe?
That was another awesome video, I’m definitely excited for the fall season

When fishing river walleyes try pumping flies very effective and cover a lot of water.
I have before... I know it works I just enjoy snap jigging alot
Tom, do you have trouble with the rear hook snagging on the top or clip with the V-Rods? I seem to have a lot of trouble with this when jigging these.
Love ur content. Learn smtg from every video

Hey Tom, great video! I love fishing pool 2. Awesome Apex!! Ever consider doing some capture over hdmi with it? You're videos are great and some more screen time would make them even better!!
Yes... trying to get it dialed in.
Thanks for watching👍
Have you had any issues with the Pendu jigs eyes breaking off one side or the other? I had one come apart as I landed an 18" walleye this weekend.
Great job and awesome video
Another Great Video Tom!
Yeah, please take us with to do some whitetail hunting. Just shoot the first one you see and get back to fishing and it’ll be fine. Maybe the “chicken farmer” can put you in a good stand.

What is that mounted on your boat by your electronics
Never mind I just found out farther into the video 😊
Custom Kalin's One Eyed V-Rod...6:27...no doubt that special edition is already sold out!
Hey Warrior brother! Do you find the Apex provide more clarity/definition on the Mega Live vs the Helix?
Use a separate battery only for your Transducer. Will reduce the clutter

Hope Shelby gonna be more lucky hunting white tail this year 🍀🍀🍀🍀
She always has the luck!

Not sure if that's suitable for RUclips videos though....
Nice
what size walleye at the Mississippi can you start keeping them so you can eat some ?
Idk... I enjoy catching and release.
Wastewater treatment plants don't remove pharmaceuticals from the water. These chemicals are now being found in river fish. I wouldn't suggest consumption.
that's cool but if it was me I would keep some for dinner that night
yea, ive never seen a wing dam on the ohio river. At least the area im from.
Tom, love the videos keep them coming. I do have a question. When are you going to embrace the dark side and come visit Michigan? I can imagine it has something to do with that big lake in the way. I'll be the first to watch
New River walleyes are genetically different than regular walleyes...come to Virginia and get some!

Thanks 👍
🎣
hopefully you have where you put in at in your gps so you dont get lost
It's either upstream or downstream
Those V Rods foul up constantly Chang hooks slow fast it doesn’t matter they will foul up.
Wolf child or bigbigfoot
If you know how to read the water, you don't even need electronics at all.
We all know the ppl that hate on live imaging can’t afford it 😂😂
