What an epic solo adventure through Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks! 🏞 The combination of on and off-trail routes, especially through places like Dusy Basin and Ionian Basin, must have been both challenging and incredibly rewarding. The scenery around Helen Lake, Black Giant Pass, and Darwin Bench is just stunning. Your video really captures the beauty of the area - thanks for sharing this journey! You had the Sierra playground to yourself! I made it up to Bishop Pass for my 1st time back in July. I was on cloud 9 for weeks afterwards. I’ll be back up there Labor Day weekend with the wife by my side. Super excited to say the least. Great vid my guy!
Great route and great footage, thanks for sharing this! Apple ProRes Log, so I'm assuming a decent size power bank. :) How bad were the mosquitoes that time of the summer up past 10000, and was there a shuttle or something to get you back to South Lake?
Glad you got something out of it, it was a great trip to film for me. There were a couple of mosquitoes here and there, but nothing I felt was particularly truly bad or inconvenient. I know that will be heavily influenced by the snow levels and the melt off dates of a particular year though. And I actually just ended up getting a local shuttle service to take me from the North Lake trailhead to south lake after sleeping at north lake the night before. I just prefer have all logistics handled prior to my hike as opposed to trying to time something on my last day and meet my car at the end
Gorgeous and inspiring. Next level. I'm planning on taking my first solo trip to Dusy. I've been to Bishops pass a few times with others (from south lake) but never down to Dusy. Do you recall the approx. time it took from Bishops pass down to Dusy and is it on trail? Solo I want to be on trail. Thank you.
Thanks so much. Once you reach the top of Bishop pass Dusy Basin is directly below it on the other side. It's hard to say since the Basin is large and technically stretches all the way to the beginning of the desert to Le Conte canyon. But you'll be in Dusy very quickly after getting to the top and don't need to go off-trail. Maybe just a little bit to find a campsite, but you can see a ton of beauty in Dusy all while being on/staying very close to trail.
