Great video and description of the ACS712. Working on a fast switching device with the ACS712-20Amps and have no problems with this device. Great job and good work.

I noticed that if I bring a ferro-magnetic material (iron) or magnets close to the sensor then the measured value shifts - I'm guessing this is interfering with the way the measurement is made since there is no internal shield or core. What is the recommended way to protect the IC from external magnetic fields? Has this problem been addressed in newer versions?

the same as the case that I'm working on at the moment, I use a voltage of 90VDC 24A, it often interferes with wild frequencies, my case is in the installation of an audio amplifier. maybe with a ground loop, ferrite insulation or aluminum foil can dampen, I have not fully tried, is it useful or not, because these stray frequencies often damage the sensor

does those tiny pins on this chip in SOIC8 package can handle 30amps of current?

What is the minimum current it can sense? What is the max V? Can it sense AC?

Can this IC output a waveform readable in an osciloscope?
I need to measure current waveforms over magnetic sputering devices that work with 50 micro seconds high voltage pulses(600 V) and pulsed current of up to 5 A.
Since the device is not linear, a shunt resistor wouldnt work so I need something to read current waveforms, can I rely on your IC???

What is the difference between automotive and industrial applications? Which type of IC will provide more longevity for home use?
    Thank you.

    hello sir !
i am measuring power factor through ATmega8 micro controller..
i used "zero cross detection" technique to find power factor..
but the output wave of this "ACS712" sensor does not touch zero (ground level) ,
it give me output wave form from "2.5" to "5".
i want to get its output symetrical across zero... what i need to do... ?
plz give me sugeestion to solve this problem..?

Hi we are trying to implement these sensor ICs in our product but getting really hard to wire these ics in our circuit due to lot of variation we are getting in output. Can you please guide us about how to use these ics. We want to implement implement a load current (power) consumption system in our Home automation product. Load running on 230v/50Hz AC. we need to measure the current with our Microcontroller ADC which requires approx 2v of input. What could be best possible interfacing circuit for this. Also we need to have load detection in our system.

@@Allegromicro I like to try the chip however the packaged made and selling is complicated for my Board design and like to get the chip itself.
Strange that package for testing premade on cheap PCB which is paperboard with thin copper. NOT my preference.
Stange that hobbies developers have issue unless they by lots of 1500 chips..
Also I do not like hitting links and getting 404 messages page not available .

Do you have any sensor which can measure microamp range current?

if you want to measure microamp range currents you can look at the texas instruments current sense amplifiers like ina290.

@shraddha jadhav Please check individual datasheets for working voltage ratings. www.allegromicro.com/en/Products/Current-Sensor-ICs/Zero-To-Fifty-Amp-Integrated-Conductor-Sensor-ICs/ACS712.aspx . Check the ACS724 datasheets in both the SOIC8 and SOIC16 package. They should be suitable for your application. www.allegromicro.com/en/Products/Current-Sensor-ICs/Zero-To-Fifty-Amp-Integrated-Conductor-Sensor-ICs/ACS724.aspx

ACS712 current sensor is made up package. cheap to buy.. however that package for testing premade on cheap PCB which is paperboard with thin copper. NOT my preference. Not my desire at 10, 20 and 30 amp loads.

However it is a great design and looks like great product.. why is it chinese sell it like hot cakes. USA marketing is dismal to poor.

Taking the x05A's performance characteristics, with 75mv(pp) noise figure at 50kHz bandwidth and a sensitivity of 185mV/A. This translates to 75/185=405mA(pp) which is almost 5% of the peak-peak current range. You can not claim that the device is low noise! Please tell the truth in your marketing...The ACS710 (ACS716) is beter though.

+Gert Kruger Thank you for your comment. Allegro’s Hall-effect sensor ICs are world class in terms of noise performance for a coreless current sensor using Hall-effect technology. The ACS712 provides a highly functional current sensor IC solution from Allegro. Please see our latest generation of products: The ACS722, ACS710 and ACS724 family of ICs provide larger gain and improved accuracy and resolution. Please contact a local sales representative at www.allegromicro.com/en/Sample-And-Buy/Contact-Sales.aspx for further help using Allegro current sensor ICs.

+Allegro MicroSystems, LLC It may be low noise within its class, but it is still NOT low noise. It is possible to make a low noise coreless sensor by using multiple Hall-effect elements and averaging, just a hint. I have taken a look at the suggested sensors and their noise figures are basically the same.
