I had to do it too! My 2022 Native "Slayer Max 10" is coming today! Took me 6 months to locate one. I gave up looking around South FLorida. Ended up finding one at FISHUSA in PA. Since its all snow & ice up there for the last 4 months no one is buying kayaks. The entire state of Florida however is sold out ! (they shipped for $250, a fair price for a 100 lb 12' box!) Great video BTW, I really enjoyed it!
Heck yeah man! Look at the MAX or TITAN's as they are dedicated for fishing! 10' - 10.9' (called 10.5) and 12' I have a Max 10 coming today. I chose the smallest for maximum portability.
Great. Thank you for sharing. Currently I have a feel free pedal drive but I want that native slayer propel. Seems like a better fit for me and is practical.
This one has served me well. The rudder (slow turning response and bad tracking) is my only complaint. I recently bought the spring blade rudder from Native and hope to install and try it out soon. All the word is, that it fixes the issue.
Great review! FYI-That’s a forward facing rod holder for when you land a fish. It’s somewhere to place your rod while you’re unhooking the fish. The rod holders in the back are where you store your rods while paddling/pedaling. 👍🎣
THANK YOU! Yeah I use the forward rod holder that way sometimes. But I like to keep a rod up front so if I see somewhere I want to cast while moving. That's why I bought a rod holder for my gear tracks up front.
Awesome review. I think I am going to check one of these out. I had a Titan 12, decked it all out and put it on a trailer and it was a great setup. The problem is, it's a heavy boat and I decided if I'm going to do all that I may as well go back to a regular bass boat, which I did. I'm back in a 20' Skeeter. However, there are some situations where bringing the boat isn't feasible, and it would still be great to be able to fish. My wife still has her kayak so it makes sense for me to get another one. This boat is a lot lighter so putting it on a rack or in the truck bed should be a lot easier for me.
I really do like this boat. Super easy for me to load, and at 10', everything is easily accessible. The only thing I feel like I lose is tracking. I hear that some aftermarket rudders help with that, but I'm to cheap to buy one.😀
This thing looks AMAZING! I Googled "Lightest Pedal Kayak" and found this model, and now I've found your review. I love my Lifetime Teton. I fish BIG LAKES with it. But I really want a pedal drive for the same reason you said: Keep my hands on the rod and catch more fish. Plus, if there's a bunch of followers when I'm fighting a fish, I want to be able to stay in THAT location so that after I unhook the fish...I'm not 100 yards away. I thought it was awesome you had a C-Tug in the storage compartment because I JUST did my review on the C-Tug and as you were opening that I was wondering if it could fit inside...and there is YOURS 😂 Great review, man! I plan on watching your other videos on this as well, but just quickly... how happy are you with the stability and the speed? The reason I love my little kayak is because it's FAST and I can turn quickly. Sitting low makes me feel very safe in the big waves of Lake St. Clair. I'd hate to spend all of this money on a kayak that would tip over in big waves because I'm sitting so high.
Thank you very much. As far as stability, it is very good for a 10 footer. I stand and fish all the time, and have never been nervous. I have never had it on any really rough water, but I feel like it would perform well. As far as speed, typically I come in at about 3.5 MPH. I have considered getting a a kayak with a powered motor just to expand the area I fish. But this one is fine for now (I hate spending that big $). The turning isn't as sharp as I would like. I have read that there are aftermarket rudders out there to help with this, but I manage with what I got. Being a shorter boat, it doesn't track as well as my 12 footer. This just requires me to keep my hand on the rudder when I am moving to another spot under full power. I still love this boat and would buy it again in a heartbeat. It has served me well. Thanks for stopping by, and if you have any other questions hit me up. NAVIGATE OUTDOORS!
I like it a lot. I still have 2 Paddle kayaks I use in creeks and rivers. It was hard to turn loose of that $, but it has been a game changer! I am able to keep better boat position.
Thank you! Be sure to SUBSCRIBE! Got a lot planned this year. Hopefully this weather will clear up soon so I can get some fishing in. Looking to try some Crappie fishing myself. Love the channel!
Ordered 1 yesterday. Storage was a factor over the MAX. But where do you put the paddle ? Doesn't it need to be accessible for push offs and landings .
It won't let me post a pic, but if you check out my set-up video around 7 minutes and 15 seconds you will see how I mounted my paddle. ruclips.net/video/r01CBRL2Ey4/видео.html
have you experienced shallow water with pedal deployed? The spot where I fish has thick vegetation and rock embankments in certain areas and I'm concerned I will forget to lift out of water and break propeller
@bwd1465 I have fished all those types of areas. It can be a pain in heavy vegetation. I usually just move it up and paddle. I have been very luck to not break a propeller yet. I try my best to be very aware and pull it up if I need to. I bought a cheaper kayak to fish shallow creeks and rivers.
Sold my f10 in 2019 for one of these. Great pedal yak and light weight. If they had a f10 pedal drive I would prob have one as I did really like my f10.
@@nashguy2814 I still have my F10 - honestly it works for what I need it to do so I haven’t thought about replacing. Whenever I do upgrade, it will definitely be a native. Hard to go wrong with either brand!
The smaller boats don't track as well. But I added the upgrade rudder, and it fixed the problem. The new ones come with the springblade rudder, or you can buy one. I did a review and install video: ruclips.net/video/zh11o1_n96U/видео.html
actually, the tether will not hood the front hatch cover if you are driving on the highway without it secured. I know because I lost mine last fall when I forgot to secure it. had to order a new one.
I've never owned a Hobie, so it would be hard to advise you on them. I would suggest doing your research. Watch multiple reviews on both, and try to find one you can sit in. Make sure it is the right one for your situation (You can store it, haul it, and load it). Consider weight, stability, and if it has the ability to be set up the way you like it without having to buy a lot more stuff. It is tough trying to find the perfect one, but with a little research, it will happen. Good luck - hope I could help you some.

It's a good one! This boat has served me well.

That's a great kayak. I borrowed my buddy's. It was easy to put it on top of my Jeep by myself.
Yeah I love it. Light and small. Easy to get to everything, and very stable!
So the peddle drive and rudder come with the Kayak? Not like other manufacturers where you have to buy separately?

Not sure. But here is a link to the Native website: nativewatercraft.com/pages/slayer-propel-10#find-a-dealer
What city and state do you live in? In my city that kayak would of been stolen in 30 days!
I live in central Kentucky. There are some turds around here that would steal it if I left it out. It's a shame it's like that.
Definitely keep the kayak in the garage or shed. Otherwise it may be gone...
