- Dear friends,
Poor Shane Dooiney was hardly even mentioned in the lone book about the Mountain Railway. I felt he needed his time to shine - so here you are!
Yours Truly,
The Author
A huge thank you to my usual writing pals: @BurntonRailways, @TheJollyMariner, @Maithwaiter and especially @datcaiac and @danetank656 for suggesting the title!
This story is free to adapt, and can be found here: docs.google.co...

What i absolutely adore about your writing is how RWS - ish is. Awdry was a good writer, but due to limitations back in his time, he didn't manage to have two parties both be in the wrong and such. This is where your stories shine!
Neither Shane Dooney nor Eric were either right or wrong! Absolutely nice story!
(Also Shane sounded like a military officer ordering the youngsters around, it's a funny concept-)
This comment means the world to me - thank you so much! I have a huge soft spot for the Mountain Engines, and am always so keen to explore more of their line and lives!
@@TheBuriedTruck wow I like your story, so what next?

or From the Mountain?
This is a great character spin on Shane Dooiney. It makes him stand out from the rest of the group. A lovely story.
Love the Culdee Fell, Arlesdale and Peel Godred railway's. The stories written by fans are amazing, very well done. 👏
This is a perfectly seamless way to write Shane.. sorry, Shane DOOINEY into the railway series! A great way to write a story with the CFR too, nothing insane like tumbling down the mountain, but enough of a kerfuffle to be notable! Wonderful work as always!
Love this story, narrator is good too. 😊
So for people who don’t know, Shane dooiney is sudric for “the old man,” and I find it amusing when someone writes a story about this engine they give him a grumpy old man personality, stuck in there ways. it’s quite comical.
a wonderful story buried truck, glad to see the culdee fell engines and especially these two get some much needed love. keep up the great work.
not bad. i like to hear more stories of the Cudlee fell railway someday
Shane Dooiney Is Someone To Grumble About Everything, Alright.
Love it. Nice to have more stories about the mountain railway.
I love seeing more stories about the Culdee Fell Railway.
A fabulous story Mike. I was originally going to write a story with the exact same title and with the mountain engines although I kind of strapped it ages ago. Nonetheless glad to see Shane Dooney get the time in the spotlight. Keep up the good work man!
Not how I imagined Shane but its nice tk see him get a lead role as ive mever seen him in a lead role before.
Ive always imagined him as a shy engine personally. This is an interesting take
Its always refreshing to see new stories about the mountain railway and you know just how to do it
• What a spectacular story! Well done! Keep up the great work; Buried Truck. 👍🏻
• Here’s a couple of questions for you.
1. Are “The Importance of Being Ernest”, “Wilfred Whistles”, and “Sidetracked” worth being adapted in the television format? If so, that’s great. If not, that’s fine.
2. Just like “Shocked!” set in 1926 before Troublesome Engines started, what year does your stories; “The Importance of Being Ernest”, “Wilfred Whistles”, and “Sidetracked” are set in?
• In my opinion, I want to imagined that Mountain Engines would be adapted in Season/Series 19 of Thomas and Friends. What do you think about that? Anyway, enjoy your wonderful day! :3
Great story! 😊
Anyone else reminded of a stricter Duke in Shame Dooiney (not sure how to spell the last bit)?
You did an amazing job shedding light on a line and engines that aren't focused on that much. I can't help but wonder if you'd consider a ghost story where the mountain railway is haunted by Godred's ghost, or a RWS version of the book Thomas and the Castle. Just a couple ideas since Halloween is coming up.
Very well done here!
A great story and a great interpretation of Shane Dooniey. Is this a stand alone story or will we be seeing more escapades on the mountain railway ?
Thank you! I don’t have a specific volume planned, but rest assured - there will be more stories about the Mountain Engines to come!
