@@sonicthehedgehog1060 to me Riju has the same problem as Epona did. you never stop moving and the rapid movement makes using certain charge attacks harder or move annoying
I tried doing the Cotera unique action spam by dodge cancelling it and oh my God, you were absolutely right. It absolutely demolishes even bosses like the Igneo Talus.
A weak point smash and special attack showcase during the conclusion would be really nice. Obviously how you use them is self evident but Its fun to get to watch them together with the rest of the kit!
They are so good that my friend said "dodge cancelling to prevent them switching HAS to be a bug and shouldn't be a thing" after i started to use their uniques. Easily the best character in the game. Also, Tera's unique is perfekt for droping FPS in co-op on command. And chaining your dashes without going into the pod is incrdibly fast.
By analysing each of the plants that each fairy conjures in their unique action’s; Kaysa summon’s Mighty Thistle’s. Cotera summons a bunch of Blue Nightshade Mija summons a field of Armoranth’s Tera summons a field of Safflina’s (Cool, electric and warm)
I learned a lot from this video! I was a big proponent of them being a great character in AoC. I do want to mention that an alternative build I have been using for them is 4 Special Attack Boost panels, since each smack of their C5 boosts special gauge by the total number of enemies absorbed - it's VERY easy to gain a full gauge per usage with a lot of enemies around leading to fun C5 - Special - C5 - Special (etc.) looping. This also keeps weak point gauges exposed on a (mostly) permanent basis!
I'm pretty sure 85% of the people who unlocked the Great Fairies played their training level once, then proceeded to ignore them for dozens of hours afterwards. I know I'm one of them, so thanks to opening my eyes about their strengths and potential. Starting off the HW:AoC guides with them was a good choice.
Found you on reddit. This video is actually incredibly well done. Very clear, informative, and organized. I'll probably won't use great fairies much but you have given me a different perspective on them. Definitely subbed.
Once again, the Great Fairies are very big and very weird to control. And have very long animations. But unlike the Hyrule Warriors 1 Great Fairy, these four are absolutely broken.

Thank you so much for this guide as I was getting tired seeing the same old characters getting guides first from other uploaders. Cotera's unique action (blue nightshade) starts doing insane levels of damage at like 7 uses on the same enemy. Like more damage than a weak point smash
I'm so happy for 1) the start of your All About series for AoC. 2) you're starting witjmy favorite character in AoC. This is so awesome, thank you so much dude!
I wish they had gone a different route with this but I so like this outcome. -each fairy should be like a costume where they can he selected. -each unique action can be paired up. -the giant sheild can be used in the blocking animation but still take a certain number of hits before disappearing -the 3 other unique actions bevome paired up. The flower spawns from tera create a feild of flower in the unique action, next the launch like they do with kaysa's unique action, next we use cotera's nightshade in the attack but having them be a part of the missiles to. -different uses for unique action: whale stationary you're unique action only spawns the flowers but never launches them, when you're moving in any direction the flowers launch in that direction. -whale you attack another fairy comes out still but the fairies don't swap, they instead get invincibility frames during each transition between daisies with any interruption resulting in the fairies retreating into the fountain until for a moment before your fairy emerges again. -the voice lines are specific to certain fairies so they are applied to the costumes. -now I would make multiple weapons for the great fairies that would change their play style just a bit, -weapons: fairy fountains. Bangles. Medallions. -medallions: no one medallion has advantages over another they just use different elements, this allows them too cast different spells. (These medallions are the one from ocarina of time because they use those elements) -fairy fountains: -fairy fountian: the lowest teir fountain and what we see the fairies riding around in normally. -Vacation fountain: a round house from lurelin village but its used as a fairy fountain. -Shrine fountian: basically the orb pedestals bit with a few new features like pillows, the constipation patterns on the walls, those weird looking beige bits being used as the crown of the fountain with some walls coming out of it. (Reward from monk maz koshia if you beat him with a great fairy) -stealth fountain: a fairy fountains in the style of a house in kakariko village, this weapon has the ability to silence your movements and boost movement speed at level 30. (Reward for beating cotera in a challenge) -desert fountain: a fairy fountains modeled after gerudo town, this fountain Allows you to resist both frost and fire damage from enemies at level 30. (Reward for beating tera in a challenge) -mountain fountain: a fountain made from stone found in the have a region, this fountain focuses on minimizing your damage at level 30. (Reward for beating kaysa in a challenge) -terry fountain: a fairy fountain made in a style by a group of carpenters who go by the name son, this fountain is almost flamboyant in its color choices but child like in its blocky yet elaborate design. (Reward for beating mija in a challenge) -Coliseum fountain: the highest tier fountain, its basically the same colosseum style as the one we see in the memory quests but styled to fit the great fairy.
I think it’s good to note that the pink haired fairy’s special can instantly charge 3 special attacks if you use it on a crowds, which is easy because of its insane range
I don't even own Age of Calamity but as I grinded through HW Legends over the past few months I really enjoyed watching your breakdowns of all the characters. Straight to the point with all the useful information right at hand, just the way I like it. You've earned my sub my good man!
So excited for these guides. I've been waiting since the release of the game. Thanks to you I became an expert of the first HW, so I'm looking forward for becoming an expert on AoC. Keep going!
Also, unknown fact but the third strong attack, the one with the heart actually heals the allies nearby. It doesn't give a lot of HP but it's good to know. And apparently, I know some people noticed it and I did, the meter attack (pressing A) might heal the Great Fairies, actually but it happened only once to me and I don't know why because I regained like 4 hearts. I might have collected an apple nearby though. The video is awesome, btw. I'm happy you love the Fairies, I loved her in the first game and I really had trouble getting used to the new ones. Also because their voices are not seductive at all, and it feels they are just trolling, and also cause in English, Kaysa is dubbed by a fucking man. Why do they want fairies to be fucking drag queens LMAO!
Yeah, the Great Fairies of AoC are way more viable than they were in HW1, much as I prefer their design there. Also Please do Maz Koshia next! I figured out the Great Fairies a while ago (though the guide is still nice) and my favorite character is a certain Banana Muncher, but I have absolutely no idea how to maximize damage with the Monk.

Thanks so much for making a guide for the great fairies. ❤️ I’ve been maining them as soon as I had them unlocked. Was very hard to find decent tips for them online. People usually just brush them off as a bad character without explaining their moveset. This was super helpful 😁😁😁
I'm playing in Very Hard from the getgo. I took the great faeries blind into the Hyrule Castle siege, without gearing or leveling. I left greatly surprised because she just obliterated the guardians and the lynel.
You're not kidding about the polarising thing. I knew I didn't understand them well, but I assumed that the massive target they had on them made them bad because you'd have to be perfect with Flurry Rushes to avoid taking most of the damage you'd otherwise take. Regular dodges aren't that effective for them against certain enemies. This guide was really useful. Thank you
Can’t wait for a tier list. After finding out about broken things such as endless weak point loops you can do with some weapons, like link’s one-handed, several weapons shot up to the top of the list for me. For example at first I thought impa was top tier, but after over 100 hours and full completion, she doesn’t compare to weapons like link’s one and two handed
I almost didn’t watch this because I was waiting for Shane’s video then I realized, “Oh wait that IS him!” (Didn’t realize you had a second channel) So glad these are going up now! They are so helpful!!!!!! And I’m glad you started with the fairies because you seemed to have a genuine interest in them through your play through!
Thanks for this guide, super useful! A fun thing I finally realized is that each fairy's flowers they summon during their unique action (sort of) correspond with the effect/theme of their unique action, which led me to discover something new. Keysa's theme is Attack, so the flowers she shoots out in front of her are Mighty Thistles. Mija's theme is Defense, so the flowers she summons when creating the damage barrier are Armoranth. Cotera's theme is Guile/Sneakiness (I guess) so her summoned flowers when doing defense drops are Blue Nightshade. As for Tera, she summons Warm, Cool and Electric Safflina, which led me to test that her theme is Status Effects. The Safflina flowers she summons with her unique action do extra damage when they hit enemies that are affected by status conditions. For example, if you're in the fairy's training challenge and you hit Hestu with a fire rod, Tera's unique action will shred through the status WPG.
I knew I was missing something. I always saw potential in their range but couldn't be bothered to learn it due to the nightmare that their training mission was. Their big size and slow attack speed was also not very fun to work around. I'm sure in postgame when more stuff is unlocked, they'll be more fun to use.
I always use the Great Fairies or Revali when it comes to crowd clearing quests. Her strong attack in which she sucks up a lot of enemies are very helpful.
Wow, i main them, and didnt know quite a few of these things, mostly the debuffs they can do. I will have to try these out now too. And thanks for mentioning the seals thing. Honestly seals in the game confused me, so i mostly just used damage boosts, but i will try what you said
Just wanna say thank you SO MUCH. I’ve been playing the game and instantly thought the Great Fairies would be just like the Great Fairy in the original HW but seeing this really makes me want to try to get good with them. Appreciate your analysis!!
I love The Great Fairies and probably have some of my highest play time with them, just behind Link, Impa, and Zelda. I thought I knew what I was doing when I was playing them, but when I tell you that my mind was blown when I found out you could move their pod in the C6 combo 🤯. Great video!
Glad to see this return as it was what I thought about the moment I started playing around with all the different characters. These status effects were much better to learn here than by my trial and error efforts. I'm also starting to second guess the weapons I've been building up for so long now. Gotta find a list of the hidden seals for later.
I know this isn't the Link video, but I just wanted to bring up a personally favored tactic: Strong #4's post hold or Strong #5 into triple air followed by a bow flurry rather than air strong. Pretty good for breaking weakpoint gauges and even giving another go with a "headshot". You could even go Strong #6 (staggers and opens gauge a little) into Stasis followed by my mentioned combo.
I didn't know what I was doing before this, so this is sure to help me get past the "first impression" hurdle and maybe it'll improve how I feel about them
Thanks for the guide! I'm definitely one of the players that had a bad first impression of the Great Fairies because of the fairy swapping during their attack string.
Thanks for the video, Shane. When it comes to your recommended seals section, I heard there was a glitch with subsequent seals being the same where only one actually gives the desired effect. I wish I could offer more information, but I suggest exploring this and amending that part of the video. (And if I got the detail of this wrong in some way, I apologize. I didn't spend too long reading about it.)
I'm so glad someone finally pointed out how busted Kaysa's flower volley is. I honestly suck at this game, and I prolly would've never gotten 100% completion if it weren't for that single move carrying me 😂 Great guide dude! Hoping to see Yunobo next cause man's got some pretty rediculous moves out of his unique action 👍
Very excited to see these begin for Age of Calamity. This was very informative, especially about the status effects inflicted by some of their attacks. Can't wait to see if there's anything else I'm missing about characters, because there's some very cool movesets in this game.

I'm at chapter 5, so I haven't got everybody, but even with my newest additions to the team, nothing feels as effective as slapping, slowing, and sniping my enemies down in waves.
Shoutout to Mipha, I still main you but the queens come first
I wasn't that impressed with them when I first unlocked them. They were slow, large and unwieldy so I wrote them off like the Great Fairy from HW1... Then I unlocked more attacks, found out what the ZR does (particularly for Cotera) and took the time to give them another chance. Now I really enjoy playing as them and appreciate them for their quirks.
Aw yeah its finally time for more Warrior's Dojo!
I'm really looking forward to what you have coming in the future for this game!
...I KNEW that I could count on you to help explain the moveset of this game. I thought for sure that the Great Fairies will be just as hard to use... Well, the Great Fairies of this game and at first, I thought that would be the case when TVTropes had put it as a Tier-Induced Scrappy. However, you had shown me that while they are DEFINITELY hard to use, they are much worth it. You already got a subscriber from me and I am looking forward to the rest of your moveset guides!
I never expected the first guide to be on one of the least played characters in my opinion.... I look forward to the rest of the guides coming in the future
All the more reasons to watch, to learn to properly use them.
@@Ixbran I have no interest in using them at all. I don't plan on it
@@Haunter_1616 ahh, that sad to hear. Oh well, hope you find the video entertaining at least.
I think he's going in the same order as the the original hyrule warriors so link's weapons are most likely coming and the new characters are probably coming last
@@Haunter_1616 you should still give it a watch anyways if you haven’t already. It’s a great explanation video on their moveset and even then you get a possible idea of how the structure of these videos going forward. It’s fine if you still don’t wanna play those ladies, but I hint it’s still worth a watch
The great fairies are most problematic in coop mode. When my friend played the great fairies, he was so big it was hard to get past him in the small passageways.
*Co-op
Not coop
oh, totally. co-op character tier list looks extremely different. revali becomes almost impossible bc of his camera weirdness
If you are still taking lots of damage, take Mipha with you on the level her special attack heals allies.

Great Fairies: one of the only characters in the game that can drop multiple bosses at once in under 30 seconds
Everyone who calls any character in this game bad is just not able to use them correctly
@@AlexTheDoggoMaster idk...kinda hatting Riju...always hated "moving" characters
@@darkmafia666 she's perfect for crowd clearing though, but bosses are a huge nono ;-;
Yea riju is Bae and I would die to main her, but she has a problem with 1v1s just like teba, however Teba makes up for this for having one of the best stasis effects in the game making him versatile in any situation, which is cool and all, but riju doesn't have any of that unfortunately, AOE damage dealers should always have a gimmick to help them out in boss fights, so yea
SO glad this series is back!
I hope you do this when persona strikers comes to the west
I am always so lost without your guides. So glad to see more for age of Calamity!
Cotera summons a bunch of Blue Nightshade
Mija summons a field of Armoranth’s
Tera summons a field of Safflina’s (Cool, electric and warm)
I mean, you can’t blame those people. Nintendo were jerks designing that level, as it puts you up against Blademasters.
HOLY SHIT I JUST REALIZED YOU'RE ALSO SHANEBRAINED. I loved both of these channels and yet I had no idea up till now, I feel so dumb.
Wow that was an incredibly well-made guide. I guess I had this character all wrong.
Found you on reddit. This video is actually incredibly well done. Very clear, informative, and organized.
I'll probably won't use great fairies much but you have given me a different perspective on them.
Definitely subbed.
Oh? Could you ink to the Reddit thread? I'm curious to see what Reddit thinks.
Once again, the Great Fairies are very big and very weird to control. And have very long animations.
But unlike the Hyrule Warriors 1 Great Fairy, these four are absolutely broken.
Surprised the great fairies are your first video on Age of Calamity, either way it's a great surprise to see you back, can't wait for more warriors content
The return of the king
...the Great Fairies were level 50 while all my other characters were scattered around the level 20s-30s...I love these voluptuous, vicious, bootylicious mamas...
xD
I love playing as the Great Fairies just as much as I much enjoyed playing as her in the first HW! Thank you so much for this guide as I was getting tired seeing the same old characters getting guides first from other uploaders. Playing as I them I feel like a goddess, enjoying their witty comments at my enemies and taking out both bossess and hordes with ease. I pretty much played as them exclusive through my story playthrough when I could but at it was hilarious at times struggling through small hallways and rooms!
So glad you're back with Age of Calamity! Your OG guides on Hyrule Warriors made me absolutely love that game and as I played through Age of Calamity I started to see things that I wouldn't have without those videos. Can't wait to see what you have to say about some of the characters I think are absolutely busted
Thank you sooooo much. I love using them, they feel very strong, but I just knew I was missing some of the finer points
Happy to see that the great fairies are finally broken as they should be
I've been loving Age of Calamity so much that I've been looking for a Hyrule Warriors or Warriors focused channel that I like and yours is by far the best. Loved your Hyrule Warriors videos and can't wait for all the coming Age of Calamity videos!
Its worth noting that when they suck enemies into the flower, it fills up the special attack meter by A LOT
Really excited for the info in this guide. When I first unlocked them, I toyed around a bit and felt like there was something deeper I wasn't getting.
excited for more AoC content! happy to see this channel revived again!
as for non character guides Aoc videos, can you make a guide about Money grinding?
im planning to leveling up everyone to level 100 and make the best weapon for them, this requires a lot of money!! 😅 this’ll keep me really busy until a DLC drops
Flowers (as far as I can tell) each fairy produce:
Kaysa: Voltfruit
Mija: Amoranth
Tera: Pretty sure Safflina?
Cotera: Blue Nightshade
Isn’t Kaysa’s mighty thistle? I think it’s the flowers that grow by their respective fountains in botw
@@davidstone7257 It would be thistles, Voltfruits can only grow on cacti.
I think that Tera gets all of the elemental safflinas, and Kaysa gets the Mighty Thistle
I wish they had gone a different route with this but I so like this outcome.
-each fairy should be like a costume where they can he selected.
-each unique action can be paired up.
-the giant sheild can be used in the blocking animation but still take a certain number of hits before disappearing
-the 3 other unique actions bevome paired up.
-now I would make multiple weapons for the great fairies that would change their play style just a bit,
-weapons: fairy fountains. Bangles. Medallions.
-medallions: no one medallion has advantages over another they just use different elements, this allows them too cast different spells. (These medallions are the one from ocarina of time because they use those elements)
-fairy fountains:
-fairy fountian: the lowest teir fountain and what we see the fairies riding around in normally.
(Reward from monk maz koshia if you beat him with a great fairy)
-stealth fountain: a fairy fountains in the style of a house in kakariko village, this weapon has the ability to silence your movements and boost movement speed at level 30. (Reward for beating cotera in a challenge)
-desert fountain: a fairy fountains modeled after gerudo town, this fountain
Allows you to resist both frost and fire damage from enemies at level 30. (Reward for beating tera in a challenge)
-mountain fountain: a fountain made from stone found in the have a region, this fountain focuses on minimizing your damage at level 30. (Reward for beating kaysa in a challenge)
-terry fountain: a fairy fountain made in a style by a group of carpenters who go by the name son, this fountain is almost flamboyant in its color choices but child like in its blocky yet elaborate design. (Reward for beating mija in a challenge)
-Coliseum fountain: the highest tier fountain, its basically the same colosseum style as the one we see in the memory quests but styled to fit the great fairy.
They honestly might be top 3 most powerful characters in the game, surprising given given definitive edition’s reputation
I think it’s good to note that the pink haired fairy’s special can instantly charge 3 special attacks if you use it on a crowds, which is easy because of its insane range
FINALLY THE GUIDES ARE HERE
I’m so exciteddd
It's good to understand their Unique effects , Let's give them another try shall we.
happy to see this series returning, great work as always and can't wait for videos on the rest of the cast
You're the best character analysis person on the internet ♡
Don't overwork yourself and keep up the good work 👍🏽
I don't even own Age of Calamity but as I grinded through HW Legends over the past few months I really enjoyed watching your breakdowns of all the characters. Straight to the point with all the useful information right at hand, just the way I like it. You've earned my sub my good man!
So excited for these guides. I've been waiting since the release of the game. Thanks to you I became an expert of the first HW, so I'm looking forward for becoming an expert on AoC. Keep going!
WOOHOO! The guides are BACK!
And starting off busted strong I see, I better get to work...
Let's just get the impa guide done real fast, build up your runes then spam y, use strong attacks to easily get runes.
Just beat the game, so excited to finally know how to play it!
I loved your original Hyrule Warriors character guides. So happy to see these for AoC!
Yunobo seems similarly complex. Him next?
I came here as soon as i got the notif XD
VA work can certainly be silly the more you look into it. It's not odd for male characters to also be voiced by women. Going full circle.
Use Monk C6 to get all your symbols up. Then use Monk C5 to summon Shrine
Then go HAMMER TIME until the Shrine goes away
@@catalyst539 Thank you for the tip, but since typing that comment I'd finished the main Story and figured out his Hammer Time Loop. Still think Impa does the Symbol Mechanic better.
Thank you
*I am SO happy you're doing these Hyrule Warriors guides again*
Can’t wait for a tier list. After finding out about broken things such as endless weak point loops you can do with some weapons, like link’s one-handed, several weapons shot up to the top of the list for me. For example at first I thought impa was top tier, but after over 100 hours and full completion, she doesn’t compare to weapons like link’s one and two handed
I almost didn’t watch this because I was waiting for Shane’s video then I realized, “Oh wait that IS him!” (Didn’t realize you had a second channel)
So glad these are going up now!
"babe wake up, new warriors dojo upload"
Wow I need to play great fairies again even after I already finished the game. Thanks for the guide!
Ravioli is outclassed by Warrior No. 2.
(White Rito Warrior Teba)
So glad to see you cover this game as well.
Was hoping these guides would be coming. Excellent.:D
Glad to see this return as it was what I thought about the moment I started playing around with all the different characters.
These status effects were much better to learn here than by my trial and error efforts.
I'm also starting to second guess the weapons I've been building up for so long now. Gotta find a list of the hidden seals for later.
As impressed as I now am, I'm most excited for Terrako and Calamity Ganon.
I know this isn't the Link video, but I just wanted to bring up a personally favored tactic: Strong #4's post hold or Strong #5 into triple air followed by a bow flurry rather than air strong. Pretty good for breaking weakpoint gauges and even giving another go with a "headshot". You could even go Strong #6 (staggers and opens gauge a little) into Stasis followed by my mentioned combo.
been waiting for your character guides. very informative great fairy guide. also watching the riju guide. good job
I didn't know what I was doing before this, so this is sure to help me get past the "first impression" hurdle and maybe it'll improve how I feel about them
im glad you are doing this again, the combos are confusing to me
Thanks for the guide!
This isn't just a GF thing btw. I heard the same for every character.
i didnt realise GFs were this busted lmao, i do love the bomb rune though, its like an artillery strike.
Thanks for this. Honestly the lack of explanation in game about a few abilities is the only complaint I have about this game
Such an improvement from the great fairy from the original hyrule warriors. Great fairy went from bottom in original to sheik level in this game
good to see you back. The tier list you made for the first game really taught me a lot.
Very excited to see these begin for Age of Calamity. This was very informative, especially about the status effects inflicted by some of their attacks.
Can't wait to see if there's anything else I'm missing about characters, because there's some very cool movesets in this game.
What a fantastic guide, such high quality! I binged all of your original Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition videos when I played that and cannot wait to see you cover this game!
Comparing this video to the definitive edition ones, these look godlike compared to how amazing the definitive edition ones were.
Surprised that this is the first character guide
Yeeees I've been waiting for these guides! They help so much!
