Okay, it is PERFECTLY clear why the city of Babylon is referred to as a 'she' - for the simple reason that in Hebrew, the word 'city' is grammatically feminine. English has lost this, but the vast majority of the languages of Europe also have this feature - starting with Latin, where a city is also a 'she'. (Which is confusing for me as a Russian 'cause our word for a city is a 'he'.) So it lies quite neatly as an instrument of personification - turning a she-city into a she-creature, in this case a woman

Legends if you cover Revelations... Your gonna beat your brain into the wall. It's an interesting book in the Bible but it is loosely translated and requires a lot of context in that time. It's extremely hard to understand! That's the only book in the Bible I've actually been through, and more than once. Each time I read, I learn something new, but also left with more questions rather than answers.

I used to have both Re 17 and 18 memorized by heart.
But still, even with extensive cross referencing with the OT and NT prophetic passages and all, still, there's a lot that is simply yet to be revealed.
I don't think there is any reason to speculate on the meaning behind prophecy.
When it is meant to be understood, it will be clear.
We should study it and watch and pray so that we will understand it when the time comes. But until then, too much speculation is only going to add more confusion (and by the way "Babylon" means confusion).

When Babylon fell, the Church of Babylon did not. It changed its name a few times in History as it attached itself to Empires after Babylon's fall, one was the Empire of Rome. Which, the name change went to "The Holy Roman Catholic Church". Mankind was unaware, that church = Was the Church of Babylon.

I will give you the answer but first, understanding how one arrives upon the Answer = The Answer, is simple to figure out if, you give it some time on taking in clues from God (In the Bible of what God told to us) and the Churches of the world.
Firstly, is to know The Church of Babylon never went away with the Kingdom of Babylon but, was saved from falling to be attached to Satan's other Empires by Satan to come (To Falsey teach Gods way of life to every era of mankind and upon each and every generation).

1. God told us churches go by female terms.
2. Gods 1 True Church on the Earth is called "THE BRIDE". To be given to Jesus later to come. This is Father's 1 and only church on the Earth.
3. God told us, Satan is allowed to fill the Earth with counterfeit churches.
4. As God has his Primary Church, so does Satan.
5. This church God calls "THE WHORE". For it leads into,
6. THE HARLOTS, that flood the whole Earth.
7. The Latin language, was the language that was spoken, in The Church of Babylon.
8. This narrows the list from millions of Churches of Harlots to defining the name of Satan's WHORE church that created all the Harlot church's that most of mankind go into and learn Satan's deceits and never knowing they are falsely being taught the Bible and the clergy within them all as well. For they the clergy (Pastors/Ministers etc...) as the members are deceived, all into learning and spreading Satan's false information that keeps Gods truths away from mankind.

17. Next, how does one find Gods true church on the Earth?

This narrows the list from millions of Churches of Harlots to defining the name of Satan's WHORE church that created all the Harlot church's that most of mankind go into and learn Satan's deceits and never knowing they are falsely being taught the Bible and the clergy within them all as well. For they the clergy (Pastors/Ministers etc...) as the members are deceived, all into learning and spreading Satan's false information that keeps Gods truths away from mankind.

(when Revelation was thought to have been written)...and it totaled either 11 (counting Domitian) or 12 (counting Nerva...who succeeded Domitian after his assassination in 96). People read way too hard into Revelation. It was penned at a time, right after Nero. The entire worldview of those early Christians was different than today. They expected the end of the age and the establishment of God's kingdom imminently. What's more there were prophecies going about saying Nero would return. Given his persecution, that made them fearful. This was nothing more than a letter of encouragement to the Christians of the time to hang on, this is all going to end very soon. Just persevere. Nothing more than that.

I was born into a family who were Jehovah's witnesses, I left the religion (or cult, whatever makes ya happy😂) when my parents separated ,I was 14years old. Anyways I loved the book of revelations because as a kid it was full of epic Sci-fi, fantasy type battles, end of days type concepts that appealed to my young imagination.
If you haven't researched it, the JW publication Revelations (a book that claims to unravel the JW interpretation of The book of Revelations into layman's terms) I remember that JW's taught that the beast was the various incarnations of what is now The United Nations.

Babylon is the colloquial term the bible gives for whoever is the world's ruling Empire at any given time. Peter calls Rome Babylon in 1st Peter 5 13. Rome was a daughter of Babylon.
We start with Babel, under Nimrod, then we have Nebuchadnezzar's Babylon. Babylon comes and goes throughout history. 200 years ago, England was Babylon, under the authority of London (the ruling city). England was a 'daughter' of Babylon.
