The word of God deserves the best that we can provide for it. When David and Solomon were designing and building the Lords Temple, they didn’t go to Walmart for supplies.
To each man his own...but seeing highlights in a premium Bible hurt me lol. Gotta take notes... I get that. But what's wrong with post-it notes or a notebook? But a great video.
I’m the same as you about my premium bibles. I cannot write or mark any of them because I love writing long details and also favourite scripture out by hand in the best journals I know! I am a writer not a note taker minimalist. The journals I use are by Elim Art which have sewn binding and high quality imitation leather covers that have beautifully designed embossed scripture verse on front and back, in lots of awesome colours and designs. Only $12. 99 in Australia. I can understand how a pastor needs to highlight so he can quickly access certain scripture, though.
I received my ESV Stridon Desert Camel FY yesterday! Man oh man! It is more than I expected. I am torn about writing in it and highlighting in it……….it seems a little “wrong”. 😂. But I’m going to mark that thing up and study God’s Word!
I'm torn as well; reminds me WAY TOO MUCH of marking up textbooks, which I always had problems doing. Which is why I'm looking forward to using an external journal.
I was absolutely sold on getting the NKJV Stridon in Desert camel, but that Black pearl.. It’s impressive. I own Cambridge and Allen but no Schuyler. Time to get me one. I will be ordering 3 in October also for my wife & daughter.. My 3 boys are getting the Cambridge Wide Margins. My problem will be, when I get the Siena, Desert Camel & Black Pearl, which one do I keep?? Who are we kidding? I’m not making that choice with my wife & daughter.. I’m getting the one that’s left 😂
That's SO FUNNY. I LITERALLY just told a bible reviewer that the thing that is missing from ALL reviews is an up close and personal look at reading and usung the bible to see the little things that make or break a bible .... Or makes one stand apart to become THÉ ONE!!! And then this vid pops up and that's exactly what you doing. I mean it a listening algorithm.... But still!!! Thanks for this post purchase review .
Congratulations Pastor on video number two! Assume choice for a 2nd copy of God’s Word. I’m planning on purchasing my first Schuyler (Credo Stridon NASB, Full Yap, traditional black) for Christmas, followed by my second for my birthday in February 2024 God Willing.🙏🏾 Chaplain Anthony, Cheyenne WY✝️
The ESV Stridon in FY Desert Camel calfskin is my first Schuyler Bible . . . and now I'm looking for a carrying case to help protect it, and some of my other recent Bible purchases. (Lrg Bible Armor from 316, maybe?) And now some of the whispers floating around are that Schuyler may be putting out an ESV Quentel w/ Apocrypha . . . (I know there are some who have ZERO interest in the deuterocanonical texts, but an ESV w/ Apocrypha is on my bucket list!)
I’m delighted to see you Baptists Move into the ESV. I am a Roman Catholic who loves it because I grew up. Presbyterian loving the RSV. And it’s not mushy like the NIV.
I went with the Tuscany Calfskin. I love the way it shows wear from use. Awesome bible. I bought it after watching this video. I needed to know if it could be an all in one workhorse. I've had it a a couple months now and its holding up amazingly well. I use a Uni Jetstream 07 pen for notes in the margin, Pentel 8 color pencil for highlights, works perfectly for me with no bleed through. Thanks for the video!
Great video! I'm glad to hear you found "the one"! I ordered a desert camel stridon just before they ran out after watching your first video. It is incredible! I also have a quentel personal size in black pearl calfskin for church, it is amazing and a nice compact size. I hope they do an ESV study bible soon!
Awesome! I'm so glad you got one! It really is a beautiful Bible. Also, the ESV Study Bible in Desert Camel Calfskin went on preorder earlier this week! It's really pricey, but they say it's already over 80% sold... so you might want to jump on that one if you can! evangelicalbible.com/product/crossway-heirloom-study-bible-desert-camel-calfskin
@10:52 "The Harris highlighting method". If you Google it, (in quotes) and follow one of the various links, you can read all about it. I use a modification to this method (fewer colors) that works well for me.
Thank you for the video. Your parents really did a nice thing in getting you a duplicate and eliminating the difficult decision of "do I write in this beautiful bible or not". I don't think I could highlight and take notes in the Stridon - it's just too nice. I could barely bring myself to put my name and some important family history in the introductory pages of mine. I have an ESV Study Bible that I've been using for that where, for the past couple years, I have taken some notes, done some highlighting, underlined some passages, etc. Despite being a heavy beast that is difficult to carry around, I'm happy to write all over it. Enjoy the Stridon - evidently they've (temporarily?) sold out of the desert camel calfskin version!
They are really nice. Hard to make the first highlight. I got the Tuscany Calfskin because of that reason. It scratches easy and shows a lot of wear. The scratches remind me that this Bible is meant to be used so I just go for it. I love it!
I remember getting an ESV Single Column Reference Bible well over 10 years ago. I still have it. It is not the best quality paper or binding but it is single column verse by verse format with inside column references and a decent outer margin. I absolutely loved that edition and only stopped using it because they have since updated the ESV and I decided that I preferred a sewn binding. (this one being glued). As I wait for the Stridon to come back into print I may have to dig that one back out and see if this is something I want to do. Good video brother. Keep it up.
I’m torn . I don’t have a bible . I have been using bible apps. Since I rededicated I feel now compelled to get one . I definitely going to get a ESV translation but not sure between the crosway thineline something else . I do like the royal purple ones but they are different in Terms of lay outs. Any suggestions
I have the Schuyler Quentel NASB in Black Pearl full yapp calfskin, and love it! My favourite bible next to my Schuyler ESV’s. Mine is 2 months old and is read every single day! The Stridon looks amazing, btw! Thank you for your excellent review, from me in Australia 📖✝️🇦🇺

I love my Stridon. The ease of reading through verses is my favorite of the many layouts out there. You can tell that every detail was looked at and not passed over. Also, you picked a great color! :)

As an avid Bible marker, I recommend using Crayola twistable CRAYONS for highlighting. Zero ghosting, erasable, not waxy and won’t smear.
Thanks for the tip! I'll have to check them out!
That's what I use, and I'm happy with the results.
Make your highlight method! 🙏

May I ask, what brand of markers did you use on this Bible?
