- Yes! Absolutely!
If you know how to play the ukulele playing a banjolele is a breeze!
Here's some answers, tips and tricks. Leave your thoughts in the comments.
Do you play already?
What's a banjolele?
➡️ Cross between a banjo (bottom) and a ukulele (from the neck up!)
How's it like a drum?
➡️ The bottom part (or resonator) is made of the same material as a drum.
How's it tuned?
➡️ As everything from the neck to the headstock it's exactly the same as ukulele, it's tuned G C E A using the same strings as a ukulele.
➡️ What makes it sound like a banjo?
The resonator is what gives an instrument (or voice) it's particular sound or tone, it can make an instrument louder or softer, warmer or brighter. On this instrument the resonator is similar to a banjo in that it has a drum body.
➡️ Is it easier to play than a banjo?
absolutely!

And since we know how intimidating it can be when someone starts playing something new in front of you… don't worry! This one is super easy to play because it looks just like a uke but sounds like a banjo!

Thank you for the demonstration you have a beautiful voice
Thanks so much!
Great sound!
Thanks for letting me know!
Nice Banjolele, binding on the back is a nice touch too. My top Banjolele tunes to play at home are: Dream a little dream of me, Hotel California, People are Strange (‘bend’ then double pinch on G & A, down-up at the ‘pause’ in the chorus 😊), Fairytale of New York, The girl that I knew somewhere (Monkees), Daydream Believer, Rise(Eddie Vedder), Daydream (The Lovin’ spoonful). It goes without saying that anything ‘Country’ or with a ‘ragtime’ feel goes excellent on a Banjolele- Tapioca Tundra by the Monkees works really well😎🪕👍. I hadn’t considered trying ‘You are my sunshine’ on the Banjolele 😊👍.
Great song suggestions! I also like golden oldies such as By The Light of the Silvery Moon, Oh you Beautiful Doll and something fun is Brand New Key.
@@Uke-Tuber Brand new key 🥹🥹, I love Melanie Safka, I’d like to give Ruby Tuesday a go but nobody sings it with the same passion as Melanie🥹, 😎🪕👍
Put Aquila on a banjo uke for best sound and reduce the stretching problems.
Thanks for the tips!
I love your voice. I love how you talk like a Brit but when you sing, you sound like a Yank, but you can sing beautifully…
And I was born and bed in Australia!
Your banjolele is very nice. Which one is it from which brand? Thank your for letting me know.
The brand is Aersi. It’s lovely!
Anyone every put steel stings on theirs? I have this same model and it seems pretty sturdy. But I know steel strings can put added stress on a stringed instrument.
I was advised not to by the owner of the instrument store I frequent, mainly because of the added stress on the neck.
@actionsub I actually ended up doing it. I have a Kmise brand, which seems to be a clone of the one in this video. It has held up just fine with the steel strings (thin gauge). I will say, though, that there is nothing noteworthy about the sound produced. I'd say it's not worth the trouble.
Top🇧🇷👍
Do you prefer a guitalele or a ukulele?
I like both! I use them for different situations and sounds. When I want more bass and a fuller sound, I use the guitalele. When I'm looking for a higher tone, I'll use the ukulele. It also depends what I'm playing with too. It's why we end up having many different instruments. We get to have choice!
I think it just depends on what you want. I play the banjo and the Ukulele and I enjoy the banjo uke but you’re gonna miss a lot of the more mellow deep tones that are available on the five string banjo. But I do think the Ukulele is far easier to learn at least initially.
Thanks for your input. I’d love to take the banjo one day!
Is that a concert or tenor size?
I don't think banjolele's have that sort of classification.
@@Uke-Tuber they do, trust me.
@@marvinthemaniac7698 Okay - I'll see if I can find out if mine is a particular size.
@@Uke-Tuber thank you
@@marvinthemaniac7698 It's 23" so a concert.
