His name is Allen Collins and imo he is one of the best guitarists there ever was! Try Needle and the spoon live at winterland 1976. Another great song and two guitar solos from him
Allen Collins is wearing the red. He wrote the music to this Masterpiece. The first line to the song was what his wife asked him after an argument. Freebird was his baby. Nobody can play it like him and these guys. They were all masters of their instruments.
Great reaction. Alan Collins is great in Needle and the Spoon live at Winterland in 3-7-76. Searching is a another one and of course That Smell which was off the last album before the lead singer Ronnie Van Zant and guitarist Steve Gaines and his sister died when their planed crashed in October 20, 1977. May all original band members R.I.P
Crazy story its alleged that the Rolling Stones who Skynyrd opened for at Knebworth were told to Not perform on the tongue of the Stones stage and as Allen Collins made his way down the tongue RVZ backed him up cause everyone knew Not to mess with RVZ
When I was in my teens they were huge. Allen Collins takes total command. His chops are so intense that they go right through me. Every note is kick ass!! Check out Roll Gypsy Roll, Tuesday's Gone, The Ballad of Curtis Loew, Call Me the Breeze. You'll never go wrong with any song they did.
I loved watching your reaction to this. As someone who grew up listening to Skynyrd, you bring back memories of the sheer joy and passion these people brought with every note. Thanks for bringing back to life the music of my youth. Rock on, Brother.
This is the concert where they opened for The Rolling Stones up until that concert they said anyone that opened for the stones was booed and they changed that the crowd wanted more . The guy in the red was Allen Collins. This song come about from a conversation one of the band members had with their girlfriend she asked the question if I leave here tomorrow will you still remember me
Good stuff! They where opening for The Rolling Stones there and the stage was the mouth 👄 of the stones stage. The tongue part of the stage was completely off limits per the rules of the show & well, that’s Rock n Roll man 😎
07:25, the way the band create that movement, by the guitars building and then the drums breaking as the guitars slip back into more melodic vibe, genius
I heard a story... They were opening act here for the Rolling Stones, they were told to NOT walk down the runway (it was for Mick Jagger only). Skynyrd rebelled, and walked down there anyways.
Just before the 5 minute mark Ronnie starts to move the guitarists onto the "tongue". I've been told he said if the piano and drums had wheels he'd have moved the whole damn band out there, lol.
Allen Collins is in red. They have MANY, MANY songs. Call Me The Breeze is good too. Gimme Three Steps T for Texas, T for Tennessee (same show) I Ain’t The One That Smell.
Love Skynyrd! The video was cut off at the very end...there was a little bit more on the outro...they opened for the Rolling Stones that day at Knebworth...& they blew the Stones off the stage! You should try Tuesday's Gone... That Smell....Simple kind of Man...Sweet Home Alabama...Gimme Three Steps...alot of great ones!
I saw them 3 nights later Aug 24 th 1976, Springfield Mass! Then saw them as the Rossington Collins Band , 4 yrs later Aug 24th 1980 Springfield Mass !! BEST TWO SHOWS I HAVE EVER SEEN 😢🐐🎸🔥😍🤯🐐🎸🔥😍😢🐐🎸🔥
This song is on every jukebox within walking distance of all US overseas Air Bases. At least it was the early 1990s when I personally checked most of them. You should give Tuesday’s Gone by them. It is a beautiful song.
Check out the version of Free Bird from Oakland, 1977. It is fantastic also and features an American audience going nuts. Just months before the plane crash that ripped the heart and soul out of Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Its hard to believe that only two members are still alive today, Gary Rossington (playing guitar using slide) and Artimus Pyle (drummer). Such an awesome band. May the members no longer with us RIP. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
There is so much great songs by Them here is a few Simple man, that smell, on the hunt, needle and spoon, Saturday night special, ballet of Cutis Lowe and Mississippi kid just to name a few
"After you get your guitar..." Whatcha gettin'? Love guitars. Wish I was good at it. But I have fun. Do it and enjoy. It will make you appreciate the talent you see.
@@EdwinLaCroix stratocaster. That's what Eddie Van Halen's frankenstrat was. It was called that because it was actually a cheap strat he modified himself to get the sound he wanted
Definitely check out Lynyrd Skynyrd “T for Texas T for Tennessee “ live 7/13/77 Convention Hall (Official). This was from their Asbury Park concert. Killer guitar solos. Scott B.
Freebird at the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1975. Allen went f**king ham at the end of this. You see Ronnie several times try to bring him back down to earth. Lol.
The guy in Red playing is Allen Collins the one next to him is Gary Rossington. The singer is Ronnie Van Zant. RIP: Ronnie, Steve and Cassie Gaines along with others died in a plane crash. Another song you should listen to is "Simple Man - Lynyrd Skynyrd (Lyrics HD)"
Alan Collins light brown hair, Gary Rossington dark hair, and Steve Gaines light blue shirt. All great guitarists. Rossington the only one still alive.
Best triple guitar attack they are all amazing. You should check out ‘That Smell’ by them it ranks in my top 3 rock songs & top 5 guitar solos. So tough to judge at this level.
Bruh you gotta watch the story of what happened to them it's real sad..... These dudes didn't know each other till they met in highschool and clicked right away and formed a band . They were just a bunch of poor southern boys outside of Jacksonville Florida
As a compare-contrast exercise in music aesthetics, may I suggest viewing the live concert's version of "Free Bird" in Oakland Coliseum in 1977? It's the best version on RUclips.
More Skynyrd! Simple Man, The Ballad Of Curtis Loew, That Smell, Tuesday’s Gone. ☮️♥️😎👵🏼 And if you like that guitar you need to watch Santana at Woodstock!! They were all high on LSD when they got called out early to perform. Carlos Santana said the neck of his guitar turned into a snake while he was playing. If you watch the video you can see him wrestling with it. ☮️♥️😎👵🏼 Good old high hippie times ✌🏼
You mentioned not seeing black people. Well in England if the 1970's there weren't many. That said, it sadly has been my experience that black people are not very open minded when it comes to music. I remember listening to Jimi Hendrix out behind my high school smoking some green and the black kids without fail would always yell "Turn that whiteboy s**t off". Jimi was as Black as the come. In fact, the album i used to listen to at that time was Hendrix with an all black band. Billy Cox and Buddy Miles. And i got the same reaction from Black folks with BB King, Muddy Waters, Etc. Seems like once hip hop became a thing they tuned out all other music except R&B and Hip Hop. I listen to music from all over the world. I don't need them to look like me for it to resonate with my spirit. I love it when i see Black Metalheads, Country Music fans, Classical fans, etc. They seem more worldly and open compared to those among them who only listen to hip hop or r&b. Good to see all these reaction videos. Opening a whole new world for this young Man. Enjoy it my friend.

Allen Collins is a beast!!!!!!!
His name is Allen Collins and imo he is one of the best guitarists there ever was! Try Needle and the spoon live at winterland 1976. Another great song and two guitar solos from him
Yes...Allen Collins was one of the best!!
He is my favorite for sure. When it was time to jam he took over but he played a mean rhythm guitar as well.
Allen Collins was 16 yrs old when he wrote the iconic bone crushing solo finale to Free Bird.
His name is Allen Collins and he is more than rock star he is guitar Legend
When he said I love guitar solos I knew he was about to be blown away
Every Skynyrd song is a banger.
Allen Collins is wearing the red. He wrote the music to this Masterpiece. The first line to the song was what his wife asked him after an argument. Freebird was his baby. Nobody can play it like him and these guys. They were all masters of their instruments.

Those people were there to see The Rolling Stones, Skynyrd was the warm up band.😳 🔥
Allen Collins and Steve Gains are both soloing and making The Rolling Stones look like a garage band!!!!
Crazy story its alleged that the Rolling Stones who Skynyrd opened for at Knebworth were told to Not perform on the tongue of the Stones stage and as Allen Collins made his way down the tongue RVZ backed him up cause everyone knew Not to mess with RVZ

Does my old heart good to see youngsters listening to, and loving, these type of performances.
Good stuff! They where opening for The Rolling Stones there and the stage was the mouth 👄 of the stones stage. The tongue part of the stage was completely off limits per the rules of the show & well, that’s Rock n Roll man 😎
The only thing worse than following Lynyrd Skynyrd is following Jerry Lee Lewis. NO ONE follows the Killa’.
Mick Jagger was so pissed off he didn't want to come out on stage after them.
Allen Collins with the main solo, but they are all great guitar players
You need to do the 1977 live from Oakland That was Lynyrd Skynyrd’s gift to the world just before their plane crashed
07:25, the way the band create that movement, by the guitars building and then the drums breaking as the guitars slip back into more melodic vibe, genius

Check out the version of Free Bird from Oakland, 1977. It is fantastic also and features an American audience going nuts. Just months before the plane crash that ripped the heart and soul out of Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Damn! I’ve never seen this 76 version. So grateful it was recorded.
