Eat Supper With Us - Beef Stew, Cornbread & Slaw

- We enjoyed supper together, but we sure did miss Mom!
Beef Stew Recipe:
- Beef Stew meat or Chuck steak or roast
- Carrots, Potatoes, Onions
- Tomato Paste
- Broth (Chicken or Beef)
- Salt/Pepper/Parsley
- Oil/Butter
Turn Instant pot on to sauté function and add oil/butter
Brown beef on Sauté function in instant pot
Hit cancel button
Add veggies, spices, tomato paste, broth
Add more butter if desired
High pressure 35 mins, let naturally release for 10 mins then release manually
Slaw Recipe:
- Half head of cabbage
- 1 carrot
- 1.5 TBS Lemon Juice
- 2 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar
- Salt/Pepper to taste
- Sugar - optional
Chop slaw/carrot in food processor
Add all other ingredients, mix and taste

Celery and couple bay leaves, TBSP apple cider vinegar and a cup sweet red wine.
I’m curious. How many of you peel all your vegetables for stew? I’ve always been taught that so much of the nutrition is in the peels, so I just wash and chop.

Its so good to see family eating around the table, and not everyone going their ways.
And not eating in front of the television! I never do that or eating in front of my PC. I always sit even if I am alone. I plate up properly with napkins and full set of cutlery. This is what makes a decent meal :)

I'm old country. What I do is break up a piece of buttered cornbread in a bowl and spoon my stew juice and all over the top. Pintos the same way. Can't beat it. I'm hungry again. 😂❤

Too funny Zebra cakes & Oreos~~~~~!!!! What a great meal. I love when you all eat together. That was always a thing at home when I was young. Supper time was family time.
Everything looks so delicious! I make stew the same way except I toss the meat in seasoned flour before I brown it so it makes the sauce a little thicker. And I add celery. I love seeing how people make the same dish, it's always a little different but always made with love!
I do the same and also add Celery.
I also make a slurry to thicken the sauce so it's not so watery. A bit of cold water mixed with corn starch and, add it in at the end.
@@Sara-1xk3 I make it that way also. I made this a few weeks ago. It's still cold and damp so I might make it again. The coleslaw looks mighty good.

What a coincidence, I made slow cooker pot roast today with beef sirloin, onions, peppers, carrots, potatoes, and gravy. Also had cornbread and my home grown half runner beans today. Happy husband. So glad Granny is getting better. ❤ 🙏

If you dredge the beef chunks in flour or corn starch, it'll be more like a stew and less like a soup. But looks amazing.
You shouldn't eat green potatoes, they can make you sick

The good thing about using the Instant Pot (or any pressure cooker) is you only need 1 cup liquid for it to cook. When you add enough to cover the food it turns out more like soup. It sounds like a good supper and your family enjoyed it--that's what's important. Glad to hear Granny is better.

I was a little surprised you didn't thicken your stew but still was satisfying without doing it.
Use spicy V8 as your tomato base. You won’t regret it. Add garlic and celery salt. Delicious.

Looks like a good stew. I like to sear the meat before adding the rest of the ingredients. It adds flavor.

Looks delicious! I love stew. We make one similar broth with hamburger, onions, potatoes, carrots and same broth as you except a splash of Worcestershire sauce and a can of bean and bacon soup. The soup adds a smoky flavor and thickens the soup. Thanks for sharing Supper with us!

A few weeks ago Tipper made chicken and dumplings an served on a plate as well. An please ,I am not being rude, but I have never seen any entray that was served along with other foods that were "soupy"...To each his own, just enjoy it with family or friends.

One of my favorite foods is slaw. A lady at church always had such good slaw. She said she put the juice from bread and butter pickles in the slaw. I don’t know how much I just know she uses mayonnaise and the pickle juice.

I'm trying this recipe tonight. My husband doesn't like change, and my Instantpot is one. He likes dinner fixed on the top of the stove or the oven. When he saw me preparing the meal in the Instantpot, I told him I got the recipe from your channel. Then he agreed the meal should be okay. 😅

Scrub those carrots and save the peelings and the peelings and endings from the onions and put them in a freezer bag with any celery bits you have from trimming celery (and maybe a couple more celery ribs) with a couple smashed garlic cloves and make veggie broth to use to cook your soup beans. My grandma used to do that all the time. You can also use the trimmings bag with a chicken carcass to make chicken broth.

Just wanted to pass some information along. When I used to cook more and peeled potatoes I used to toss the peels in the trash. I saw someone bake them!! They tossed them in oil or something, seasoned them then baked til crisp..homage chips...
