  • @FuglyFatt
    @FuglyFatt 9 лет назад +79

    Lebron was always considered a great player as a kid growing up and in high school. He was being recruited by NBA teams while playing in high school and the AAU. He was offered a massive Nike deal before playing one second in the NBA. He was on ESPN and the cover of SI before even knowing what NBA team he was going to play for. That is why he didn't need to go to college. He never had to go out and get or earn any of it, people were coming to him with these things. Jordan, on the other hand was cut from his fucking high school varsity team. He had to earn that. He was recruited by several colleges and went on to become a star athlete at UNC winning a National Championsihp. He earned that, too by hitting the game winner in the final. Two teams passed him over in the NBA draft. He didn't come into the NBA already being considered a star player with other NBA star player's phone numbers in his rolodex like James did. He had to earn his place as a superstar by scoring 63 points in a playoff game against the legendary Celtics. He had to earn that Nike deal and that Wheaties deal by jumping from the free throw line and slamming it down in the dunk contest and winning an Olympic Gold back when the players were all amateurs. He didn't leave the Bulls to go play with Barkley or Magic or Ewing, he used what he had in Chicago and earned his championships himself. Maybe that is why MJ never lost on the sport's biggest stages like the Olympics and the Finals unlike Lebron who didn't have to work as hard to get to those stages. You can't compare a kid who was literally handed everything since he was a teenager to a man who earned everything he has on his own. Lebron is going to be remembered as the welfare superstar when compared to MJ now and forever.

    • @FuglyFatt
      @FuglyFatt 9 лет назад +13

      Matthew Hakun compared to MJ, yes, everything was handed to him by servants on a silver platter without him having to lift a finger. One has to look no further than the two players' Nike deals. Did Jordan land a $100+ million Nike deal as a high school kid? Yeah, I don't remember that either.

    • @FarhanKhan-bf3qo
      @FarhanKhan-bf3qo 9 лет назад +3

      Leo Nast LeBron worked hard no doubt. It's just that Nike, the NBA and many other parties saw his potential and capability as a player, and ensured the deals would be made for mutual benefit. Jay argues that Jordan had to work for his success when no-one saw 'it' in him, from the bottom.

      shaqpopcorn34 He may have missed some shots but he also dropped 45 points in that game and the final 4 points of a game that they were losing by 3. Two of which came form the game winning shot set up by that one steal you mentioned witch came with less than 20 seconds on the clock... LeBron had to be saved by Chris Bosh and Mike Millers rebounding on his blown shots. Plus the 3 point shooting of Ray Allen.

      shaqpopcorn34 LeBron is a beast ill admit that, I am not an idiot, I just personally believe that Jordon was better. Jordon has his legacy and LeBron is building his. They played at different times with a different set of rules, which makes a comparison pure speculation. So you can have your opinion and I will have mine. But the fact remains they are both great and that is truly the only fact that is not disputable.

    Lebron's finishing his prime now (averaged prime is 27 years, unusually consistent. Check it out). During MJ's prime, 1st 3 peat, here were his finals numbers - 1991 - 32 and 11.5 APG 2.8 SPG on .558 FG%. 1992 - 36 PPG and 6.5 APG on .526 FG%. 1993 - finals record 41 PPG 6.3 APG 9 RPG on .508 FG%. When in the hell has Lebron come close to any one of those stats…. once in the finals? Lebron averages 22.5 PPG in the finals over his career. MJ's single lowest finals scoring game of his career is 22 points. 50 point playoff games since 1984? MJ - 8. Rest of the league combined - 13. Lebron - 0. Sorry, it's not even close. MJ was so dominant, Daly made the "Jordan rules", a defense simply focused on MJ at all times.

    • @musicsdarkangel
      @musicsdarkangel 9 лет назад +24

      bledredwine On top of this, MJ had legendary moments in the finals nearly EVERY time. in 1991? He had 13 FG straight and "the move" against the lakers. In 1992? He had record for 3's in a half, points in a half, and "the shrug". 1993? Sets finals record of 41 points including a game winner.
      Against Utah? He had the game winning assist, and of course the most famous game-winner in finals history after making a lay-up and stealing the ball from Malone, back to back to back in 30 seconds. Never taken to a game 7 in the finals. If I want to win championships, I know who I'll take on my team.

    Michael Jordan is my hero! No one will ever convince me LeBron is better. Don't get me wrong, he's a straight beast, a freak of nature. To win three titles, have your father killed, go get embarrassed playing baseball, and then come back to win 3 more. BTW MJ never ditched his team to go find an easier place to win a Title. NBA is not the same since Jordan left. Bunch of babies playing. Where's the toughness? I remember seeing Heat/Knicks, Bulls/Pistons, Pacers/Knicks. I mean straight up battles, I loved those days. What happened to those rivalries? They're gone, sadly. Mark my words, James has seen his LAST title. That is unless he decides to shit on Cleveland again and go to a team full of studs. Jordan made the men around him play better by working hard and leading by example. I sure do watch MJ play, man I do. He was the GREATEST. Not trying to start shit, just stating my opinion. Marco Alexander I guess you do't realize that in the 90's there was expansion teams coming in. This caused the league's competition level to be much weaker. I mean you guys act like MJ won ships in the 80's with a healthy Bird & Magic. Then don't even talk about how the Bulls beat the Lakers in the finals because the Lakers were plagued with injuries and had no Kareem or healthy James Worthy. Basically MJ's era wasn't nearly as hard as you think it was.

    I love the contrast between his later years (in HD), and his early years. He became a more well rounded offensive threat after his return from baseball, relying on the mid range game more. Whereas during the first 3peat he was so damn explosive he just attacked the rim relentlessly. Both versions were equally hard to stop... in fact try impossible.

MJ is definitely above LBJ, not only because of his skills but his leadership and heart, but Lebron will go down as a top 3-5 of all time.

      When I think about Kobe Bryant I should think about Elgin Baylor first. They are in the same level, Kobe is lucky to play in an era without 60's Celtics that is why he won more rings.
      Balyor's teammate Jerry West is better than Kobe for sure; Jerry West beats Kobe in all stats (per game).
      All season:
      PTS: Kobe (25.0) Jerry (27.0)
      TRB: Kobe (5.2) Jerry (5.8)
      AST: Kobe (4.7) Jerry (6.7)
      STL: Kobe (1.4) Jerry (2.6)
      BLK: Kobe (0.5) Jerry (0.7)
      Best season:
      PTS: Kobe (35.4 - 2006) Jerry (31.3 - 1966)
      TRB: Kobe (6.9 - 2003) Jerry (7.9 - 1962)
      AST: Kobe (6.3 - 2014) Jerry (9.7 - 1972)
      STL: Kobe (2.2 - 2003) Jerry (2.6 - 1974)
      BLK: Kobe (1.0 - 1999) Jerry (0.7 - 1974)
      * Blocks and steals started to be recorded in 1973-74, so Jerry West's STL/BLK in his last season beats Kobe's best season.
      And since Jerry West has a nickname called "Mr. Clutch", so his playoff records are way better than Kobe.
      Playoff:
      PTS: Kobe (25.6) Jerry (29.1)
      TRB: Kobe (5.1) Jerry (5.6)
      AST: Kobe (4.7) Jerry (6.3)
      Elgin Baylor beats Kobe Bryant in PTS and TRB, but not AST (No STL and BLK data for Elgin Baylor since he retired before 1974)
      All season:
      PTS: Kobe (25.0) Elgin (27.4)
      TRB: Kobe (5.2) Elgin (13.5)
      AST: Kobe (4.7) Elgin (4.3)
      Best season:
      PTS: Kobe (35.4 - 2006) Elgin (38.3 - 1962)
      TRB: Kobe (6.9 - 2003) Elgin (19.8 - 1961)
      AST: Kobe (6.3 - 2014) Elgin (5.4 - 1970)
      Playoff:
      PTS: Kobe (25.6) Elgin (27.0)
      TRB: Kobe (5.1) Elgin (12.9)
      AST: Kobe (4.7) Elgin (4.0)
      Jerry West played 1960-1974 in Lakers, Elgin Baylor played 1958-1971 in Lakers -- you can easily find old Lakers which were as good as (or even better) than Kobe Bryant, but it is hard to find a person as good as Jordan.

    This is why jordan is better than letravel......
    Because Jordan played and won like 3 or 4 times in a row, against the big ones, patrick ewing, the bad boys, charles, mutombo, hakeem, larry bird, kobe, drexler, etc..
    And Lebron? If he cant win against the actual oponents like durant, derrick, cp, curry, if he cant win against those. Then he would never beat the other ones, NEVER...
    So thats the reason why jordan is better, because of the oponents that he faced, seriously if he could play actually, in his prime, he would destroy all the competition right now :)

      lovefunkrockmusic The Spurs are better than any team Jordan ever faced in the Finals. The teams that Jordan faced that could be compared to the Spurs are the Bad Boy Pistons or Bird's Celtics. Guess what Jordan's record is against those teams? 0-2 against Bird's Celtics and 1-3 against the Piston's in the playoffs.

    • @redace6649
      @redace6649 9 лет назад +2

      Tony Mario No, the Spurs are clearly the better team. They been to the Finals 6 times (and they are in the western conference) and won 5 championships. The Jazz been to the Finals twice and won 0 championships. Bird's Celtics and the Bad Boy Pistons were also better than those Jazz teams.
      The 80s Jazz team was actually better than the 90s version. The 80s Jazz had Malone, Stockton, Thurl Bailey, and Mark Eaton (greatest shot blocker in modern basketball). Bailey was better than Byron Russell, and Eaton was clearly better than Greg Ostertag. The 90s Jazz would have never even made it to the Finals if they played in the 80s. The 90s Bulls would have had a lot more trouble with the 80s Jazz. The 1986 Celtics, the 80s Lakers, the 1983 76ers, all would give the 1996 Bulls a run for their money.

Not to mention all the intangibles (clutch, will to win, competitiveness, confidence, etc.) that Jordan clearly has the edge in. Jordan of 1987-1993 = the best prime of any player in nba history. Jordan was a cold blooded assassin as our buddy skip pointed out. He not only won multiple mvp awards, 6 rings, a gold medal, but he also won how many defensive poy awards? These people act like he couldn't defend. Watch his clips about shutting someone down. He couldn't provide floor leadership or assists. I love lebron, but if he had half the leadership jordan had he'd have won 5 titles In miami. Jordan was one of a kind. I've only ever seen one other athlete just dominate the field like he did and that was Tiger Woods in his prime. Idc how big lebron is. How strong lebron is. Jordan was a man. LeBron Could HAVE Went To College As well. don't start that bs. Jordan not only went to college, but won a national title in which he hit the game winner, and had a poy award. I don't think this is about forgetting... I don't think this generation in general ever watched the brilliance and down right scary on court performances from MJ.. that dude was from another planet. Literally. The speed, acceleration, passing ability, court vision, creativity, the power at the rim, the signature fade aways from either side, the stone cold defense, the big shots, the buzzer beating game winning shots, the grace with the ball in which looked like it was on a string, and so much more. We've never seen anything like him and we may never see anything like him again. Even if someone gets 7 rings.. when he played the Bulls won rings. If he hadn't of became bored he would have 8. In the 90s.. this guy was down right 100% no doubt about it the best player ever to lace them up. Unstoppable. Feared. A champion. The greatest

    Nobody who ever saw Jordan play, and sees Lebron play now, would ever say Lebron is better. Lebron is a dominant player on some nights, but Jordan dominated the entire league for an entire decade. There is no comparison. Jordan just absolutely slayed everyone and left jaws on the floor. I am happy I was alive to see him play. He was beyond special.
    Lebron just kind of reminds me of Patrick Ewing and Karl Malone. He's big, and he pushes his way to points. And with the right guys around him he succeeds SOMETIMES.
    But Jordan beat guys like that on a nightly basis. There is no one like him.

    I don’t want a quitter, to have my fate in his hands.

    Outside the numbers people have to realize the things MJ did under the circumstances he did them in. Artistry was unbelievable. I remember his first couple years in the league people were pulling there hairs out it was unbelievable the things he did. No disrespect to lebron, your never gonna be like MJ, never gonna be close, Bob Costas once said if you walked into a room and you didnt know and knew nothing about basketball you would look at MJ and say that has to be somebody ( basketball player) he's the greatest.

    Jordan also was more humble and had a better attitude than LBJ. And he wouldn't get away with travel and then complain about not getting a foul. And he wouldn't flop like LBJ does in a time when the game was way more physical. So not only was he better, he's more respectable.

      Yeah on the court he was a trash talker. That was part of the game back then when there was more heated competition. Like the Mutombo finger wave. Jordan shook his finger in his face after he dunked on him. That type of thing would be a technical today. Today's league is soft as hell. But Jordan wasnt all about his stats like lebron, he just wanted the win. Jordan was 6-0 and his interviews were still more humble than leflop.

      +DemocracyOfHypocrisy you have to respect lebron the man was give millions of dollars as a 18 year old and has never gotten arrested for being drunk, high, domestic violence, never had a gambling problem, never has spent his money foolishly, and is a great role model. Say all you want about flopping and traveling because everyone does it now due to the fact that the refs allow it, it's old news. It takes one hell of a man to stay out of trouble and manage his money that well at such a young age. He spends time with his kids, is great to the fans, and a great business man. He may not have the bigger heart on the court but he definitely has one of the biggest hearts and smartest minds in sports

    Wow this video is epic. It's true how quickly they forget. Jordan set the standard for excellence on both ends of the floor. He was head and shoulders above all players in the 90's. Jordan threw up untouchable season numbers from 1984 to 1989 but he became wiser and finally became an NBA champion in 1991. From that point two 3 peats going 6-0 in the finals adding 6 finals mvp awards. "The best there ever was, The best there ever will be" is what reads on his statue outside the United Center!

      It amazes me how people even consider this a question, Lebron James is a great player, but he is no Micheal Jordan. Even if Lebron were to ever win 6 or more championship he still wouldn't be the GOAT. Lebron just does not have the mental aptitude and drive that Jordan had. He does not have the clutch touch and he would rather work for an Oscar with his over the top flops than fight through the adversity. Nothing Lebron has done compares to Jordan in the championship finals out of gas with fatigue and flu still doing what he needed to win. Personally, I would rank "slow" Larry Bird over Lebron.

      @MrStag90 10 лет назад +3

      Dude, you are so full of shit. Go to NBA.com and look up their real stats, because you are way off. Jordan always averaged more points, but he never averaged more assists or rebounds than LeBron. If you are going to argue for Jordan at least make an honest attempt; its not like it is hard to make a case for him.

    • @iamrangers8351
      @iamrangers8351 10 лет назад +9

      shaqpopcorn34 Your stats are incorrect, thus making your post void. MJ has the highest PER, PPG, PPG in nba finals, playoff points in the history of the NBA. He also owns the most Finals MVPs of all time. Not to mention he averaged over 50% eFG/FG% in his career (Which includes his joke wizard years). He even quit the NBA when he won Finals MVP and averaged 41 points a game in the nba finals (highest of all time). This dude is the GOAT.

      Jordan was a brand name during all those 90s video games, and the games weren't allowed to use his name without his permission, which they never got, but his "like-ness" was used. Check out a few games like Kobe Bryant Courtside 2, the Bulls have a 90+ overall player on the bench that's supposed to resemble Jordan but he's nameless

    STATS do not determine whether you are the GOAT. Its about taking on your GREATEST rivals and WINNING. Its about Playing against a team that is destined to WIN (aka 93 NY Knicks and SUNS, 97 Jazz) and still having the determination to WIN. Lebron doesn't have this same determination as Jordan has (no rolled Ankle is going to stop him, no Flu is going holding back) and if you do happen to beat Jordan, Watch out! cause he'll come back with more determination (aka 72-10 or SWEEP your ass like 96 Magic). Lebron is Great, but Jordan is the Greatest.
