    Man, I love soldering, fixing things, messing with tools and above all playing guitar. I have modified fixed and then all kinds of other stuff to guitars before too I've been playing for about 10 years and I'm shock that I was too timid to do this before. I assumed it was a lot harder, like taking off the whole bridge completely and other stuff but your video was awesome and informative and I watched the entire thing well having supper. Thanks for the knowledge, and hope all is well on your end.

    Had no idea what was required to do this. Fortunately I have the electrics from another guitar so I can straight swap it with no need for soldering. I have confidence Incan do it now. So thanks.

    Thank you for that. I have one to replace after I broke it sliding the saddle in! Fortunately, mine has a 2.5mm jack plug on the end so no need for soldering

    Photos are better than notes. On the bridge, make a pencil mark on one end before you remove it then take a picture of it or put a similar mark on the adjacent peg to help you remember.

    Nice job, You have a very calming voice which makes the job look pretty stress free. Any idea wht the bass or treble would be louder on some pickups?

    • @aureentulava
      @aureentulava 5 лет назад

      eagle49 thanks!
      Some pickups just sound different; other times, preamps are voiced differently, giving them more or less bass/treble response.

    hey Russ great vid.I have a Thomann ce king acoustic with similar fishmann piezo pickup.Just got a Journeytek transducer pickup that I wanted to put in one of my guitars, preferably this one and I was just wondering if I could take the piezo out and wire the transducer into the fisherman like you've done in this vid.that way I retain the tuner ,get rid of the quacky sound of the piezo and get a better sound out of the guitar un amped with a new bone saddle.Whats your thoughts,ta Bev.

    why did you replace the piezo? to upgrade? boost the volume?

    • @russroll3258
      @russroll3258  4 года назад

      PAMPANGA PPDO Planners My piezo pickup was damaged and not outputting consistent volume (sometimes it would get really quiet out of nowhere, then blast back to full volume).

    How do you measure the saddle so you know whether it's wide or narrow. my saddle seems to be wider on the low end. I'm hoping to replace my Fisher Axis Preamp with a Fisher Prefix on my '97 Taylor 410CE. Do you know if the Prefix will fit in the same hole without having to do any drilling. I can't find any specs on the Axis.

    Good job, But I have a question, how do you know when the pick up is failing and not other
    Element of the module?
    I have a guitar with very weak response when is plug in, but I don’t know how to test the pick up piezo.

    This may be a stupid question.! Is it possible to salder a single coil in place of the piezo pickup? Will it work?

    What will happen if you do not remove the factory installed pickup and put another pickup or mic inside the guitar?

    If the tuner on the pre amp works, is that mean the piezo in a good condition..? Because my acoustic guitar doesn't give any sound when I plugged in to the amplifier.. Hopefully you can help me.. Thank you

    Does piezo pickups works with any preamp. Or there's some rules in that?

    Thanks for the video. Sound is not coming out from my takamine, its got a ctp-3 preamp and I lost the guitar Saddle, is the piezo supposed to work even without the Saddle??

    • @russroll3258
      @russroll3258  4 года назад

      Diego Pereira No, the pickup won’t work properly without a saddle. You’ll want to get that replaced for sure!

    My tuner is working, but no sound is coming out from the speaker when connected. Whats the issue here ?

    • @russroll3258
      @russroll3258  6 лет назад +3

      Sandeep Salmon Could be a number of things; hopefully it’s something simple!
      Of course the first things to check would be the easiest/obvious ones. Make sure the tuner is not engaged (on this preamp, turning on the tuner mutes the output), and make sure your cable and amp are working, connected, and set up properly.
      Next thing would be to check that your output jack isn’t broken, and that none of the leads/wiring is shorting together (touching). If that’s good, check the solder joints on the output jack. Then check that the wire between the output jack and the preamp is plugged into the preamp.
      That’s basically all of the simple physical troubleshooting there is to do. If all of those things look OK, you might have something wrong with the preamp itself, in which case you’ll need to take it to a tech for repair (or, if you’re electronically inclined, find a service manual and try to troubleshoot the circuit yourself), or replace the preamp.
      If it comes to that, replacing the preamp is basically the same job as shown this video, except you don’t need to remove the pickup from the guitar, you just replace the preamp instead of putting the old one back in.
      Good luck! I hope you get your issue resolved!

    Please stop calling it sodder! It’s prounced SOLDER with an L .

    • @knvbcoach
      @knvbcoach 2 года назад

      I’m assuming you’re British since you’re really insisting on pronouncing the L. The OED gives two pronunciations: |ˈsɒldə(r)| and |ˈsəʊdə(r)|
