23:19 - T4 steam tank is tragic. Well played to your opponent for bringing together multiple aspects of their list to leverage the power to achieve that. Should probably think about extra magic defence for the list. Either stronger wizards equipped for better dispels, or what I think could be more the style of this list, active magic defence with small/fast/semi sacrificial units intended to charge into enemy wizards, tie them up and stop them from casting and/or snipe them out.
Loving the empire reports. Id love to see more, maybe some pistoliers, maybe some mercenary Ogres. Wargames Atlantic has a sweet Landschekt Ogres kits I've been painting up
Let's be honest, a stank in a 1250 pts list is very hardcore, especially in a tournament of what's obviously very new players with very soft lists. There are very, very little things that can deal with it in such small point games. It more than makes up for the fact that you used soft state troops. The proportion of points, number of threats/units and unit choice combinations are vastly different from standard 2k games.
Combined arms is the order of the day for the empire. I never leave home without some cavalry to support the infantry. Also, I do anchor my battleline around greatswords.
A lot of people are saying that infantry are underpowered this edition, but I think they're pretty good. I take a couple bricks of men at arms in my bretonnian army, and they've impressed me. Despite being ws2, they are great for holding the line and waiting for the cavalry to do its thing. Stubborn and shieldwall area hell of a drug
Men at arms are great from my experience. 4 points for light armour, shield and spear. I want to make my 20 man bricks larger just from how much they've overperformed. I really like Brets being an army with core choices that are worth taking, KotR and M@A are almost my best units every time in the games ive played. Empire unfortunately are just paying too much to make the infantry bricks. 5 points a model, for an extra weaponskill and leadership, sure... but you have to buy the shields/spears/halberds seperately. So usually you're paying 50% to 75% more on a state troop unit. They don't have horde, warband or shieldwall either, AND grail monk adds some extra value on top of it all.

Gotta agree HVGs are really good. As a Bretonnian player, fronting up to empire armies heavy on HVGs and outriders (and the dwarven volley gun equiv for them) is never a good day for me.

I'm missing a bit more "oumph" in the army. A single proper hammer unit or two smaller knight units to supplement the infantry. BS based shooting for Empire when units move along the line is imho a waste of points.
Are you coming to Triple Crown Wargaming’s Derby Deathmatch in May? They did a lot of work keeping the Fantasy community alive in the Dark Times and their events are always run well
@@janehrahan5116 yeah you are right. messed up the last part^^ But only with acually 40 shots. And they did not have 40 shots. Both units had 14 shots (considering the pictures). So it is only 3 wounds and on long range its only 1,5 wounds and he managed to kill 5 Spearmen and 3 Halberders.
Mann I just got into the hobby and now I'm not sure if I should buy Old World or W40k. Btw you won the first game because the enemy's army wasn't battle-ready.

Painting has nothing to do with expense but time. You don't know his life. 3d printing shaming is weird gw simping and on this channel is wildly hypocritical given mordians entire army is printed except the legacy stank
@@janehrahan5116 Warhammer is a game of playing citadel models. Simple as. Using printed/3rd party models should be an exception, not the rule. I'm totally OK with using such models here and there to add some flavor to your army, but printing entire army AND THEN not even bother to paint it is just above my tolerance level. Now, Mordian has his army printed, sure - but he chose good models to print (they actually look like Warhammer models), painted them nicely, modelled their bases and still using original models (steam tank, the wizard gal and cannons). If you are using 3rd party/3d printed models, at least have some decency and PAINT THEM. You don't want to support the company that makes the game by buying models (and ensure the company keeps supporting it) - fine, but at least give your opponent the pleasure of fighting against well painted and modelled army.
Steam tanks are a solid unit, but they can only fire 1 weapon a turn, so its either the steam gun, steam cannon or engineers weapon. I kind of feel like it is missing some extra rule to let it fire multiple weapons and maybe split fire but alternatively you can look at it like the steam gun is the steam cannons version of grapeshot.
Q: Some chariots are equipped with large scale missile weapons such as bolt throwers. Who shoots such weapons; the crew, the beasts that draw the chariot, or the chariot itself ? A: Missile weapons mounted on chariots (or howdahs) are shot by the crew, using their Ballistic Skill. The most recent FAQ suggests the crew is firing the weapon so that's a bit of a grey area, if the 1 crewmember is firing the cannon, can they fire another weapon?@@Redshaark

I don't think so. A level 4 is under 10% of a list for most armies (lore familiar is a trap most of the time imo). But at 1250 it's gonna be almost 20% of your army and yeah there it's extremely overrated
@@janehrahan5116 dont get me wrong. A lvl 4 is good (duh) but it is not like you must take one to be competetive. Even at 2k you can go well with just a lvl 2, depending on your army of course. If you play like Tomb Kings or Vampires or Elves you will benefit more from a lvl 4 then Bretonnia or Empire.

Dawi Cannons can at least shoot every round.
Dwarf cannon one the worst units in the entire game.

Well you won the first game as thete army is not painted so they are all dead before the game starts

Game 2 - Your opponent must have either been very new or out of his mind to leave his units so close to the edge of the board.

at 1250 the games will be quick. When you go to 2k it get's a bit slower.

As it's a chariot the engineer can fire and the Steamtank can choose a weapon to fire.
So at least you are able to use two weapons.
