the micro stack is no joke. I have the svt classic 8x10 cab. I was in a music store one day and heard someone jamming on my cab. I couldn't see the fridge anywhere, but after following the sound this micro stack is what I saw. VERY impressive amp!!
All about the bass at Andertons has been one of the best sources for, well, all types of things. Really there's not enough room in the comments to go through it. Thank you guys.
Back in the 80s and 90s I used to run an SVT 300 into a 4x10 cab... it sounded great but was so massively heavy that eventually I had to sell it. After that I ran a GK800RB into a 2x10 Ampeg cab, but that 2x10 weighed almost 80lbs and was such a pain to carry around. When I turned 50 I just couldnt take it an more and I finally sold that about 4 years ago. Now I'm playing an Aguilar Tonehammer 500 with a 1x12 cab that in TOTAL weighs around 30lbs and sounds so incredibly good. Wityh a second 1x12 cab this is a killer live rig with plenty of volume and the tone is awesome, especially considering its class D. I am drooling over one of those vintage looking Portaflex tube amps for the studio though.
I appreciate Dino's comments at 26 mins in. As a tone-loving bass player I struggle to find great bass tone in a modern context of modern music making (recording, live performance without a massive rig or volume). Hopefully, Ampeg will have some more products that will speak to this need.
I have the Micro-CL and it’s loud. When he says it’s 100w, that’s not 100w peak... it’s 100w RMS. Big difference between the two. Definitely loud enough for a small gig and to get over a drummer. Just add a DI and you’re good to go. I play a Fender Jazz Active Deluxe through it and I can get everything from vintage to modern tones. Everything set flat and use the bass for my EQ. Best amp for the money and it’s got good weight too
@@ardyjan035 lmao 😂 Dino and the dinosaur of bass amps! They fell so far behind that they had to sell out to Yamaha to make their gear from three plus decades ago. This is just a marketing ploy to try to boost sales now that Yamaha gobbled them up without even chewing 🤣
SVT 300 watts "all valve" was a pretty big deal back in '69. Wide-open, at that level, it 's a real "paint peeler". I trust reliability might be even better now.
I used a couple different Peavey amps (on a cab stack of a 1x15", 2x8", cabinet on top of a 1x18", 2x10", cabinet that scared some people). I used a nice GK. An Ampeg SVT III that I still have. But my SVT 4 Pro, running into a Sonic cab with 1x18" EV, and a Sonic cab with 4x10" celestions with a horn. When playing my 1983 Fender American Pro P-Bass, all original, through that rig, compression never above 30% (I was taught compression is in your hands and you ears, I agree, if you can pull it off), I've had musicians playing modern metal, classic metal, rock, jazz, blues, r&b, country, all tell me it was the best bass tone they'd ever heard live (wasn't just one tone for all genres, and occasionally I'd use a bass I built with EMG PJ-X pups and an EMG BQC system set). I don't know if it was just bullshitting me, but I heard that all the time, I'd never heard it said to other bass players, and it really did/does sound so good. I love my SVT 4 Pro.
Ampeg has the right mid scoop curve to fit any modern mix without disappearing. Love it. Their best product is the SVT7 PRO rack unit. Studio grade EQ with musical compression.
Finally! An Ampeg video on Andertons has been looooong overdue! Can’t wait to see the solid state portaflex line reviewed in particular... eyeing off a pf500 and 115lf so bad!!
Quilters bass block 800 or 802 is the next level, it is a fully original class d design made by Patrick quilter who was one of the founding members and key power amp designers of qsc amplification for 40 years which are world renowned in the pro audio world for their bullet proof pa amplifiers "I know because I own 3 qsc amplifiers", the bass block amplifiers put out a real 800w rms into 4 ohms, and doesn't use cookie cutter class d amplifier modules like everyone else, it is fully designed in house and uses nothing but top quality parts, no Ch#nese capacitors either, they usually use united chemicon caps, only thing that beats the bass block series is ampegs svt and cl tube gear. And even then, they usually use all Ch#nese parts... It is one thing if stuff is made in china, but uses imported parts, but most thing's today don't even do that...
I own an Eden rig and an Ampeg SVP tube preamp into an old QSC825 watt SS amp. Heavy but LOUD. I run 2x10 to 8 x 10 cabs. I love Ampeg. I can get clean and modern to gritty Ampeg sounds.
Hi John I've been thinking about getting the ba 210 would you say they are loud enough for medium gigs like around 150 people . I have been looking at the ashdown rootmaster c210 500watt combo and fender rumble any advice would be greatfull cheers
I am 68 years old now been playing many years, have used and still using an Ampeg 1528,410HLF V-4,400ps,W/1-18 folded horn cab and many others cant get much better for all types of music, also bassman r12r for guitar.
In the early 1970's I had a Portaflex B-18. That baby could go LOW! The best sounding bass amp I ever used was an Ampeg V-4B head with a custom made Electro-Voice-designed bass reflex cabinet (which I made myself) for an 18" JBL speaker. I've never heard a combo that sounded better than that.
I enjoyed this video. I have and have had several Ampeg products over the years. and have been watching Dino for years! Looking forward to seeing the new stuff! Lots of exclamation points!!!
Ampeg is simply the gold standard of bass tone. Glad to see Ampeg under Yamaha for stability's sake. Ampeg quality has been up and down depending on who owned them, maybe now their QA will be more consistent.
Speaking of looking for Solutions, the difference between a tube bass amp and solid state one in a recording is big. I'd love to see Ampeg develop a device that could be added to the signal chain if a solid state setup to bring back some tube character and behavior of a tube head.
If they want some ideas, how about a simple stomp bass multi effect pedal with eq, comp, overdrive, chorus/ flanger & tuner in one ,designed hearty like the fender downtown, not the tiny cheesy tech 21 fly rig,I’d buy that for sure
Love the 50th aniv.SVT. which i would get if i had the money but have been not working due to M.S. Right now using. Ampeg V 4 B. head with 2 cabs , 6 x 10 H L F. .which is moves pretty easy with the dolly set up .wheels and push bar . And then i have the micro aniv. 2 x 10 . both cabs sound great . Had been using the 6 x 10 at church at lower vol . and is awsome , don't have problems like a 15 would give you booming at the end of the building .
Nice video but nothing new. I was hoping the micro head might get upgraded with a more power class d power section to compete with things like the orange terror. Missed opportunity
Love to see Dino, but there is no new product from Ampeg for the last couple of years. Would love to buy Micro-CL with UL and UH buttons, but it does not exist.
Would love if anyone could help me out on the Micro CL Stack. Unfortunately none of the music shops around me are stocking it in Dublin but I’m really digging it! The one question I have is that will the CL Stack work well in band practices? Is the output loud enough for me to cut through 2 guitars and a loud drummer? I don’t have the luxury of having 1200+ for an SVT!
Depends on the budget. No limits. Get SVT CL head and 810 cab. If You are on budget check reverb for svt450, b4r, b2r, svt3, svt7 heads. 410hlf cabinet will do the job.
Why not look for an old V-series guitar amp? Those things crush and can double as a bass rig in a pinch as well! I've got a Vt-22 and a v4b, also recommend the vt-40!
Am I taking crazy pills? 3:08 This has been the lineup for years and years now. Hoping we see Yamaha make changes and improvements like they did with Line6 sooner than later.

Ampeg has a great history. Glad to see the brand re-energized.

We've been very excited to have them back!

Dino! So glad yamaha kept you around. I will never sell my Heritage 810e. If I can find a heritage b-15 or a real b15 I would be in bass heaven.
The Cappy try Andy Baxter. He always has some B15's for sale

Dino is the face of Ampeg, one glimpse of Dino on the screen and you know the video is about Ampeg and that it will be a good video!
That 210 with the 100w head sounded way better than I imagined it would. Not like a tin box.
"can't bring an 8x10 to the local pub gig"..of course you can bring three of them instead 😂😂

I have a PF500 it's great! But I don't have the cab anymore I need to get the 4x10!

My FAVOURITE brand for bass products!!! 👍
Also as a guitar amp:)
Once you tune below C and play some Riffs it shakes the house💪
Just purchased a BA115 V2 today... can't wait to get the new tones
Excuse me, but how are these amps new? They've been on market for so many years...
Made in China now

Looking at the micro stack thinking Marshall really needs to reissue the lead 12 micro stack
Revamped - pro series? Please please please!
Ampeg needs to make a tube preamp pedal to make the solid state SVT 450 sound better.
Why don't they make the SVT210HE anymore? Been looking hard with no luck.
It is a pity the svt vr Head was not for a proper demo!
What differs from a normal speaker with amp and a bass speaker with amp if they both have the same type of controls.
Can the riff at 20:51-20:52 release as a longer song!!
Ampeg foreverrrrrr
Cool great talk!

They're 5 yrs behind Mesa's industry leading Class D Bass Amps.
Does anybody know what the SVT-CL(300w) Transformer Balanced Output is an output of the whole amp(pre and power out) or is it just a preamp out?
Yes
Love Ampeg but they don't half do some bizarre stuff. Bring amps out no one wants. They sound amazing still.
My bedroom is too small. :(
I was looking at their smaller amp, the 108. It jumped from $99 to $119 overnight last month. That's when I quit looking.
👍👍😎
None of these products are new though.
Ampeg is Getting Smacked by Mesa Subway series and DarkGlass.
sadly too much of it is made in China or some other sweat shop... Ampeg should be a 100% American made brand!
None of these are new and this video could be 5 minutes long
Love Ampeg but none of this is new - at all....
Sooo... all these amps have been out for years... why does everyone seem so surprised?
Selling new stuff but they can't deliver the 50th anniversary yet is almost 2 years DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM AMPEG UNTIL THEY GET IT OUT DOR DELIVERY.
