Incredible!!! WOW!!! 😯. Hot Stuff ! An hour well spent. So nice to hear late Romanticism. Melody, harmonies that are not discordant not stop. A real GEM. Thanks for getting Langgaard to us.

I have a CD of the 2nd & 3rd symphonies; and really like them. I just now thought I would use RUclips to explore some other music of his. I have seen Antichrist once. I liked this First Symphony too, and will pursue the rest of his stuff that is available. I think he is a composer that speaks to me.

OMG, the build up to coda in the final movement, I cant imagine hearing this live. And Dausgaard has done a really good job conducting this gigantic piece, I feel there is more passion than other available recordings on youtube.

The Danish Bruckner!! The main theme at the end from an obscure work sounds so familiar! Has Hollywood pirated it for movie scores?

Langgaard apparently started composing this symphony nr.1 at age 14 and finished it at age 17.

The part starting circa 16:00 was just gorgeous, the orchestral texture is just out of the world. this is really an amazing piece, having read some of the history on this piece, I can only say it was a shame for the Danes to not know what they were missing. Even though it is late, I am glad there is more and more recognition on Langgaard's name.

At 16:00 it sounds like a Tchaikovsky waltz (well, maybe more like Richard Strauss). But later in the work (as as teenager the composer matured) there is more dissonance, especially in the development section of the Finale where he sounds like early Schoenberg. The very end is like the end of GurreLieder with orchestra alone and a big Wagnerian sunrise!

I also hear echoes of Scriabin's first three symphonies at 16:00.

@@DavidFick Maybe the Divine Poem (Syn 3) which has a tremendous climax at the very end.

Where's the information about what orchestra is playing this? Or is that Mr. Busshoff's secret?
