Prime example of how much of an impact officials can have on a game by calling 50/50 fouls here and there. Both fouls (which really should’ve been “play on” in a State Semifinal) have directly lead to Walsh scoring.
@@LandoCalr it’s definitely subjective, but I perceive both of those as 50/50 and “play on” in a game of that importance. If the game is too physical, you start calling it a little tighter to settle things down, but that’s how I’d do it.
I didn't hear your comment the first time, but I agree...the keeper seems to have handled the ball twice. Should have been an indirect free kick awarded to Strongsville.
Absolutely! I noticed that as well…guess the ref either doesn’t know the double handling rule by the keeper or didn’t noticed she had possession of the ball while on the ground & dropped it to pick it up again.
Draymond Green would be in Impressed with those flops . If you give the foul to WJ # 8 you must also give the PK to # 25 . Embarrassing for the ref community.
Whelp, while that looked like a dubious call to award a free kick, Walsh missed like 3 goals before that banger. Strongsville’s defense down the side was just not good enough. It felt like a goal was inevitable for Walsh. Very few chances created for Strongsville in the second half by comparison.

@@briangaynor8226 the other one I think he got fooled from his angle. The camera has a better angle than him. From his he probably thought the extended arm shoved her down.
Not sure what the rules are for Ohio as I have heard they deviate from IFAB on a few things. But yeah, you have to be a little more than 3.5 feet away from the wall (if 3 or more defensive players). If they encroach, then the ball is immediately awarded to the defending team as an indirect free kick.

From playing/coaching at the HS level for 9 years, I have found this to be the biggest issue with officials. CONSISTENCY.
