As a constituent and resident of (INSERT STATE), I am calling on you to support the Ukrainian government and people in the face of the unprovoked Russian invasion. The actions of the Kremlin present an unprecedented security risk to the United States and its strategic partners. As such, the United States must rise to the challenge and seek to protect democracy and support the millions of Ukrainian citizens who are fighting to preserve it.
The United States provided Ukraine with clear strategic commitments in 1994, as detailed in the Budapest Memorandum.
I ask that the following measures be taken in order to fulfill our strategic commitments to Ukraine and to further protect democracy from attack…
Provide large and immediate military assistance to Ukraine in the form of weapons, particular anti-tank and anti-air batteries
Increase humanitarian aid to support the hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian civilians that have been displaced from their homes
Support Ukraine’s full accession into NATO in order to protect it from further attacks
Increase sanctions against the Russian government
Insist NATO “close the skies” over Ukraine to prevent further destruction from Russian air attacks
We must honor our commitments to Ukraine and ensure our own security against the blatant aggression of Russia. I ask that you fight for democracy, and ensure that principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are shared by all who fight for freedom.
