I always wondered if the people he does his crazy/best "WTF" grapple kills watched his channel or know how awesome that kill was
This guy's movement is so good, that I sometimes forget he's on controller.
Ever since I moved to pc I slowly stopped doing short range grapple because i eventually just tapstrafed around corners, no longer needing the short range grapple to carry me on controller. But coming back to this video after 2 years is nice to remember there’s still a lot of places I can still use grapple like that

The analogy with the wavedash comparison really made things even more clear for me, because you essentially need to convert your momentum in a compressed matter. Thanks for that one! 💫

I love that you compared that short range grapple movement to wavedashing lol. Titanfall and melee are two of my favorite games because they both have super fun and interesting movement, so that analogy really hit.

I've been wondering why he does that. Saw it in a few vids & thought maybe it was to stick the pilot in place while you shot him. Don't use mastiff enough to consider the shot delay being cancelled.

For me personally I prefer grapple for just speed, hight and distance.
It's hard to use indoors and has a lot more possiblity for mistakes, I find it easier to jump off a wallrun and slidehop rather then grapple a lot of times.
I guess it has got lots of style, but unless it's a 90° turn then it I normally don't do indoor grapple.

In the last few weeks I’ve been using slingshots to get back to battle quick and short grapples to outsmart enemies and make very satisfying plays
I use the tactical thing in the gun so i always have grapple ernegy after each kill
And i love to do the spring thing with the grapple, its so satisfying
I feel so bad for Hypershock being the guy to get meleed constantly lol
Mokey's last video on his Mokeysnipee channel was literally just grapple grabbing people. Two grapple montages in one day. I'm happy.

So I have kinda created a sort of system for classifying the stages of mobility in titanfall and I would like your opinion.
Beginner stages.
Stage one: walking, running and jumping.
Stage two: wallrunning, double jumping and sliding.
Advanced:
Stage three: partial bunnyhop (what I call the slide jump motion without the slight turning that bunny hopping needs)
Stage four: full bunnyhopping and tap wallrunning (what I call the wallrun where you immediately jump off upon contact to gain speed)
Expert:
Stage five: air-strafing
Stage six: mastery of previous stages
tap wallruns are called wall kicks
How into smash are you? I played in tourneys for years until recently and one of the things I love about this game is that it feels like it has similar depth to smash.
I found that you can use the second jump to really put yourself in a direction you want to. Ant its indoor use just so much fun

Honestly the short range grapples really make you feel like Spider-Man rather than the slingshots
It's funny because despite almost half (if not more) of players on PS4 use grapple you almost never see them use it for anything, but climbing to a roof or something when all of that can be done without grapple. Yet all the things one can achieve with it that other classes can't are never performed by them.
People use grapple for what everyone can do...
People don't use grapple for what only grapple can do...
Rather than using it to enhance their movement, they use it as a crutch basically?

I can never play anything that is not grapple. Little stuff like using it on walls and similar to reset jumps and wallrun is so useful. It saves me indoors far too often, just by throwing me around a area if someone gets too close to me and keeps going offscreen.
Grapple is best tactical for sure
on pc, most of this is able to be done with tap strafing, yes, coming out of doors and doing loop d loops under and over bridges and stuff
You can cut those corners without grapple smoothly, but you can’t do it with analogue controls because it makes use of tap strafing, which doesn’t work on controller.
Offtopic, but I wish matches in rise were more based on aerial combat between the steam punk walls, most people just fight in the buildings, which is not as fun. Raining down bullets is fun, but not as good as 1v1 someone who’s doing the same thing as me(wall running on the top floor of the map)
I'm slowly getting better with grapple but 90% of the bad ass stuff I do is accidental 🤷
tekkaiken mega too true, I occasionally pull off crazy things but it’s just because I gave up on plans after failing and god decides adhd moves stick this way and huzzah I did something

Nope it’s not one movement and your not locked in because air staffing and you have a second jump while slingshotting to make massive adjustments

4:24 i fal like this is kinda outdated now do to stuf like tapstrafing and fizzy strafing. makeing 90 degre turns like this is not that har now. at least on pc.
If you're good, the grapple is like having stim perma activated
I try and stay off the ground and slide hop when I hit it to get back up a wall
I use a lot of short grapples, but i cant do indoor grapples (yet)
